Ive been here many, many times, the food and drink is always delicious, and is served by friendly staff. High quality food and a wide variety of options to choose from. The location is great and the interior and exterior design of the venue is beautiful. The atmosphere is always relaxed, allowing you to feel that you have time to sit back and enjoy your meal in good company. I would say the Sailsbury Arms is moderately priced, very fair pricing for the standard of meal and experience of dining there. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for high quality and delicious food in a relaxing and beautiful setting. I always think that dining here feels like a chilled sunday afternoon! :)

Worst experience in a restaurant ever! Looking forward to a nice Sunday roast with the family!
Trio of roasts come out and looks amazing. The beef was rancid no exaggeration it was horrendous the taste can not be put into words it was vile not because it was cooked wrong but because the meat was actually rotten!
Chef confirmed it was rotten he doesn't know what happened and blamed the meat supplier.
However knocking the meal off the bill does not quite cut it in this instance absolutely shocking. Let's hope I dont have food poisoning and thanks for ruining my Sunday!

I hope the owner reads this and investigates how this could even happen....

We've been going here for a few years and have yet to be dissatisfied. Nice atmosphere, nice staff and good food. I could be wrong but it feels as though the menu hasn't changed in a while. Not a problem though as what's on it is good.

Used to be my local when it was still The Crags. Since the refurbishment the decor has improved massively, the food is excellent and the service is as great as ever. Just across the road from the Commonwealth pool, and 5 minutes from Holyrood Park.

We drove around looking for somewhere to park & eat just south of Edinburgh and were most lucky to find this hospitable establishment. I can see why it is popular as the staff were smiley and the food excellent unlike the chain restaurant we ate in the night before.

This is a beautiful and luminous place, located opposite to the Royal Commonwealth Pool. Spacious, with a cool vibe deco and ambience, the Salisbury Arms has a very interesting gastro-pub menu.
We booked a table for 4 on Sunday, 1 pm. Front of house and our two waitresses were friendly and efficient.
As starters, we had the Lebanese-style Beef Kabobs and the Crispy Karaaga Chicken to share, very tasty indeed.
As mains, I got the Sunday Roast Lamb Rump with an empty Yorkshire pudding with buttered kale goose fat roasted potatoes and stuffing wrapped in bacon.
Even though my main course was flavoursome and properly cooked, neither of the stuffing was wrapped in bacon and the kale was stone cold.
Problem was that I realised the missing bacon after eating the whole lot and re-reading the menu my bad
My friends got the Buttermilk Southern Fried Chicken with nice and crispy sweet potato fries and spicy nduja sausage, Lobster & Devon Crab fishcakes with salad & a child burger with chips giving almost full marks final verdict.
When pudding time came, we got the Melting golden chocolate bomb and the Chocolate Brownie (child portion) a 10/10 treat.
All in all, it had been a pleasant experience.
On the plus side:
Friendly and cool ambience.
Nice decoration, spacious and luminous interiors.
Food was definitely above average.
Good and friendly service.
Good for groups and families.
On the minus side:
I was short-changed with the missing wrapping bacon and the empty Yorkshire pudding in my Sunday Roast.
There was a big time window between starters and main courses.
They served the 3 main courses in two batches forcing me and my mate to wait for the third one to arrive whilst ours were getting cold
Very pricey menu.
It was a positive experience although there were some gaps that could be easily addressed.

Came here to meet some friends, had the trio of roasts. The pork was disappointing, the chicken was good but the beef was AMAZING!

If I come back I m having the beef roast.

Also only found out as we were leaving that the place was dog friendly, definitely coming back!

Couldn't resist the smell of the roast dinner from outside!

We stopped by here after walking up Arthur's seat since it was a perfect little pub situated just a couple minutes from Holyrood park to have a nice Sunday lunch! There were several different versions of the roast available all at very reasonable prices especially given the healthy sized portion that we got. The service was very friendly and the pub itself was bright and open.

Visited for a meal on the eve of my god daughter's graduation. There was a large party in an already busy restaurant, but that didn't adversely affect the service or standard of food, both were excellent

I ordered the southern fried chicken and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the meal. The tastes were all commentary with each other and a great range of textures from each part of the meal this lead to a excellent meal overall. The service was good and friendlyovely visit and would come again

We ate here on 2.8.19
Appalling experience from start to finish.
I booked through Open Table and the restaurant directly as there was no option to state there was a wheelchair user in our group on the Open Table form. Our booking was accepted in both places, so I thought I had covered all bases. This was a birthday treat for my husband and I didn t want anything to go wrong.
We stood at the door for ages waiting to be seated but no-one came forward to greet us. I managed to stop a member of staff as she was flying past. She said that wheelchair users can t access the restaurant so go sit in the bar. She nodded to a table.
After waiting 10 minutes it dawned on me that no-one was coming to take our order. I didn t realise that we had to order at the bar as no-one told us.
I spent the whole night going up and down to the bar for drinks, food, cutlery, napkins, clearing bits and pieces away from the table to make room for our next course etc.
No-one apologised for the error they made in taking a booking for the dining room when it was inaccessible. No-one offered to treat us as though we were in the dining room by taking our order at the table.
The food was nothing special, mostly dried out. The staff were downright rude and uninterested. I complained to the manager on leaving. He said he would give me a call but never did. I contacted Open table and they told me to take it up with the restaurant. No-one seems to care much these days.

Your manager, Robin, did try to call but I was unable to answer at that time. He emailed me later on to explain that the reason he couldn't contact me about the no access to the restaurant for wheelchair users is that I gave him a wrong number!

Very cosy interior and a dog friendly venue. The size of the starters were paltry. For mains, we opted for the "honey truffle chicken" dish. However, the food tasted like it had prepared the day or two prior and reheated. Chicken was rather dry and bland...and no one could perceive and truffle flavour whatsoever. The accompanying gravy was salty and lacked any depth. Just don't expect excellent food here. However I'm sure this place would suffice for a quick lunch or a few drinks.

I'm not sure if it's the location or the decor, maybe it's both, but the place just feels a bit lost and formulaic.

I don't visit often, so maybe the atmosphere is better at certain times on certain days, but I've been during the week and at the weekend and I find it to be easily forgettable.

Came in for lunch. Interior is quite nice, warm and has a nice bar area.
Ordered as part of the set lunch menu.
A little wait for the food.
Can't really go wrong with a burger and chips but the chicken was a little dry and some of the pots holding sauces had a couple of chips and cracks.
Apple and blackberry crumble was quite disappointing, most of the filling was reduced to a very sweet liquid with only seeds remaining.
With drinks, there was a nice selection available but most of them were made up of large ice cubes.

Overall, it was okay. Prices are quite reasonable with the set lunch and quality of the food was mediocre. Table service is with reservations and not sitting in the bar area, where you make orders at the bar.

Lovely place to eat and the only reason I didn't rate this place a 5 is because of the parking situation.

I called this morning and thankfully the restaurant have cancelled this fine but please beware. I was advised that there are signs everywhere but on the night in question visibility was reduced due to heavy rain and fog and to be honest you don't expect to pay for car parking when eating in their restaurant.

Morale of the story - if you want to park and eat here without receiving a nasty surprise pass on your car details to the restaurant.

Brilliant experience at the Salisbury Arms for a large group reunion that included 8 babies The staff were incredibly helpful, from the initial booking, pre-ordering, helping with dietary requirements, to making space for baby equipment and the waiting staff being so patient when we were being distracted by the babies! Food was very good, as we're the house wines and draught beers. Would highly recommend for a large group meal.

Pretty bad experience. We were a party of 4. Didn't have 2 starters or the fish and chips. Brought wrong order to one then had run out for a replacement. Brought a replacement (We asked for anything that was quick as the rest were nearly finished) - they brought fish and chips. One of us had pasta that wasn't cooked. Place was busy and everyone else seemed happy so might just have been a series of unfortunate events. They didn't charge us for the food which was pretty decent. Doubt we would return though

Had the linguine but felt it had been left under a lamp for about ten minutes
Camenbert doesn't come with enough bread and then we charged for more
Lovely staff and nice atmosphere
No mulled wine just FYI
