We did a tour of the Roasterie and it was so fun! The tour guide was very informative and the coffee was awesome. The tour is free and includes coffee samples! You also get 10% anything in the store for doing the tour. We did a flight of a coffee prepared three different ways. Wonderful weekend fun!

Great coffee shop!

Great coffee shop!

Loved the airplane ambiance!

Laurie and I tried our first ever coffee flight with Sumatra Mandheling brewed 3 different ways. Incredible! Erin did a great job educating us about the 3 different techniques as well as the coffee. She is a TRUE barista! Well done! Good show!

Based on recommendations by super knowledgeable and friendly staff, Megan and Erin, we selected a couple coffees to try at home. Really really really wanted to try the Ethiopian Natural but they were out.

Our only disappointment was arriving too late for a tour but we'll for sure visit again next time we're in KC!

I ve never cared for Roasterie coffee. I d drink it if it was all a restaurant had, but it s not coffee that I would make a special trip to drink. There is much, much better coffee in Kansas City.

And now that the owner of the Roasterie (Danny O neill) publicity degraded law enforcement due to his own asinine failure to tag his luxury car, I wouldn t drink his sludge if it was the only coffee left on earth.

What a jerk.

We took the tour of The Roasterie in KC on a Saturday morning. Learning about coffee was a great way to start the day. How the whole process works was very interesting and the tour guide was very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this free tour and then getting some coffee in the cafe after.

A great place for BBQ. Nice environment. A little bit upscale from most BBQ restaurants. The food is in my opinion excellent. BBQ lovers have different tastes, but this was perfect in my opinion. Not too spicy or too sweet. Meat tender and just enough fat for excellent flavor. Beans and coleslaw are perfection. I highly recommend.

Okay, my wife, who hates coffee, was drinking black coffee at the Roasterie. That is how amazing their coffee is! The tour was really fun and interesting, the tasting really opened our eyes to the number of different ways coffee can be prepared, and how that effects the taste. We will definitely come back whenever we are in KC.

I frequently visit the factory location to see familiar faces, write, and browse their coffee or coffee accessories. This location is one of the things which drew me to Kansas City in the first place!

When I asked for a description/comparison of the two pour overs offered (because there weren t any written) neither barista could describe them, only giving a vague answer that they were both light roasts.

Took mother in law for tour as she is a huge coffee nut. Overall good experience. They were not producing that day so the factory wasn't active. Provided a lesson in brew techniques. Not a bad way to spend an hour downtown. Right by Boulevard Brewery for those that would do a 2 in 1 afternoon.

I bought the $30 tour for my mom, sister and I as a gift for my mom. Something we could do together blah, blah, blah. It's a beautiful place and the girl who was our "guide" was knowledgeable but that's all I can say that is nice. There was no factory tour. There was an hour of coffee history and at no point during this lesson was there any coffee. The last 30 minutes was spent learning how to make a pour over coffee. It was at this point we each got a shot glass size of coffee. If you want to take a Roastarie tour, do not take any more than the basic one. Easily the worst $100 I've spent.

Very fun tour and tasting session. I went on a Saturday morning tour, and it wasn't too busy. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The coffee taste demonstration at the end was very interesting.

The coffee was good and the atmosphere ok. Seating not really suitable for such a place. It could be a lot more comfortable. If you want coffee to go, it is great. If you want to have a chat with a friend you may want to consider else where.

Local Appreciation

Local Appreciation

It always amazes me how many local businesses Kansas City has that offers wonderful products. The Roasterie features Air-Roasted Coffee made right here in the Show Me State. A tour at the 27th street location, offers insight into the history of this long time Kansas City favorite.
It amazes me how those who go after their dreams, do so with gusto and determination. That s what happened with Danny O Neill in November 22,1978 when he picked his first coffee beans in Costa Rica as a foreign exchange student. You ll learn the history that went into developing his coffee brand in his Brookside home years later.
With his ongoing mission statement to choose the best beans, sourcing them from the local farmers who own and operate their own farms in thirty plus countries, you will see the process that goes into choosing and processing those green beans into air-roasted beans. The tour includes learning about the cupping process and later, sampling cold brew, nitro cold brew as well as how to make French press and drip method coffee.
Overall: Although I m not a coffee drinker, I enjoyed the history behind this Kansas City favorite, with the cool DC-3 aircraft that s named after Danny s mom, Betty. The Roasterie serves tea, my favorite, Wild Berry.

Very facinating and educational. I learned more about coffee in 45 minutes than I've known my whole life. I really enjoyed the demo at the end with two brewing methods; it was neat to discover how the different methods impacted the taste of the coffee.

The tour was fantastic. It was really informative and the guide was great. The best part was the sampling at the end - same coffee, two different preparation methods, and two remarkably different tastes. I had no idea the preparation method would make that big of a difference!
