The River House at Goodspeed Station Review

My husband and I were married at the Riverhouse in September last year. There is nothing bad I can say at all. Our experience was amazing here!!! We loved everything about our wedding. When I think back to the day, there is nothing I can think of at all that could have been any better and that is because of the staff here. The venue is absolutely stunning when you walk in. The food was incrediable, where some of our guests are still talking about how great the meals and appetizers were. I would recommend going to their tasting as well if possible. That was such a fun day and helped us pick which apps to get since we were able to taste everyone of them. The views are incrediable as well off of the decks. We were married on site which was so beautiful under the gazebo. We ordered the extra food to be served during/after dancing which was a fun little touch as well. (Not that it was needed though because the meals were so big) The mini hamburgers, hot dogs and fries were amazing though!! We felt like royalty and that we were the most important people there. The guys loved having a room for themselves as well to get ready which was a great touch. Not many places think about the grooms too. We got ready in the bridal area which was fun as well!! I can t say enough great things about this venue and have recommended it to many couples. They do weddings and they do them perfectly!! Thanks again Riverhouse for such a perfect day!!

Very elegant. Beautiful inside and out. A little far from the hotel that they contract with. That would be like 30 miles in 27 minutes. long ride to and from but other than that it's a great place to service is great food is wonderful and lots of room for dancing!

Hattie especially handled the bulk of my questions. She went above and beyond to help me, she even calmed my nerves the week of the wedding. Thank you to Mary, Linda and Michelle for helping us on our special day, they helped make the wedding go smoothly. They made sure all my small details matched my vision of the wedding. Thank you to the rest of the staff for working so hard and treating our guests so well! Our guests were in awe of the friendliness of the staff, the gorgeous room and perfect location. The food was delicious by the way! Everyone raved about how the food was the best they have had at a wedding!

When my husband and I first toured the Riverhouse, the second we walked into the parking lot we both looked at each other and said "I want to get married here". Hattie was so friendly, and the idea that we would be the only wedding that evening made the experience much more personable.

When the wedding planning began, Hattie and Kelley were so accommodating. They answered all of my questions, replied to all of my emails quickly, and made the planning very organized. There was a timeline for everything, so I always knew what the next steps were.

Prior to our wedding, we had heard that the food here was amazing, but when we had the food tasting we got to try it all out ourselves. All of the appetizers and dinner entrees were full of flavor and delicious! On our wedding day we had the mashed potato bar, which was a crowd favorite. We received so many comments at the wedding about how great the food was.

When the day of the wedding arrived, the Riverhouse staff went above and beyond what I had anticipated. They assisted not only the bride and groom, but our parents as well. From the delicious appetizers in the bridal suite, to the cake cutting, I could not of asked for a better wedding reception. I am so thankful we chose the Riverhouse, because they gave me the wedding of my dreams!

I go there for a Ducks Unlimited dinner every Good Friday and they give me a quality time very time with no complaints and they walk around with appetizers that are awesome

Great wedding venue! Puts on an organized beautiful wedding!!

The staff seemed very nice at first. Then they became very pushy and very rude. They don't seem to care too much about the bride and grooms wishes. Beautiful place but They don't seem to have any interest in anything but their money. They don't check in with you to see how things are going. Nothing. The general manger was so bitter and so mean We found another venue that's fits our needs and are very professional and filled with empathy.

These people were nothing short of astonishing. Absolute perfection in the handling of every detail. The venue was spectacular, the food was sensational and there was never - not for a moment - a single slip or misstep. I've been to 20+ weddings and honestly this one was far and away the best managed one ever. Bravo!

We attended Easter and mother s day brunch and were very surprised at the differences in experience. Easter brunch was well organized,food hot and all selections on all tables fresh and replenished to keep up with the demand. However we were surprised to experience the exact opposite on mother s day. The tables were not replenished to meet the seatings demands, the intended hot food was luke warm and the dessert table was empty. When the lack of selections on the dessert table were brought to the managers attention, the response was sorry but we ran out of food due prior seatings. All customer seatings should be planned for and food accommodated to meet the demands otherwise the price should be adjusted to adjust to the facilities inability to provide the advertised food for the customers. Very poor service and planning at mother s day brunch as wait staff never came back to offer more drinks and coffee. Another server had to help find our server and assisted in providing coffee to my tables guests.

Great venue, awesome staff. I DJ d a party ther past 2 years. Awesomeness.

Probably the best wedding I ever attended was The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station. The venue is beautiful and the surroundings are gorgeous. The reception was fantastic, the food and staff were amazing. I highly recommend it!

We absolutely loved our experience at the Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station!! From the start the staff did a great job at making everything organized for the various milestones that you encounter when planning a wedding. They were also fun and professional at the same time! The food was absolutely amazing!! There was also a ton of choices to choose from, which was great. Everyone at our wedding commented on how much they loved the food and how it was the best food that they've had at any wedding! They also recommended great vendors that I'm sure we wouldn't have been able to find on our own. Hands down we are 100% satisfied with our choice of the Riverhouse!! Cannot thank them enough for such a perfect reception!!

Food is good, view is tremendous, parking lot is a little frustrating. The real drawback to the place is that the accoustics are terrible! In a room full of people, it is nearly impossible to hear normal conversation. They really need to install some sound dampening.

My husband and I got married here this last October and we had an incredible night! The staff was attentive and helpful and the food and drinks were so delicious! The grounds speak for themselves nestled back into the
quiet woods of Haddam allowing for ultimate privacy for you and your guests, with a magnificent view off the wrap around deck which overlooks the CT River. Very tranquil and serene (espically in the fall with the changing leaves). We are so happy with our decision to get married here and would highly reccomend it to any couple. The Riverhouse was the perfect place to host our wedding. The food was delicious and service was exceptional. Our guests were very impressed with how attentive the staff was. We highly recommend booking the Riverhouse for your wedding!

While searching for venues The Riverhouse was the last location we visited. Upon walking through the doors we instantly knew this was where we wanted to hold our wedding. The location was stunning and every employee we interacted with was just a pleasure. Our planning process couldn t have gone any smoother with the help of Kelley. She was so organized and answered every question we had quickly! We also owe a lot of the success of our wedding night to Sarah (our event coordinator) and Michele (our bridal attendant). They were both so attentive and made sure we and our families had everything we needed as well as helped keep the night running smoothly and on track. You can t get anyone better than these two!

In addition to the great service, the food and beverages were outstanding! We continue to receive compliments on the food and it was truly our guests favorite part of the evening.

We can t thank The Riverhouse enough for their time and commitment to our wedding! Thank you so much for making the night so special!

I was very disappointed when I went there a couple of weeks ago for a wedding. The waitress served us all the wrong dinners & when we told her she basically said there was nothing she could do!! What!!?? There were 3 choices on the invitation suddenly there was 4 when we're were being served. People were given dinners they didn't like. Even the dinners that were wrong weren't good like the braised ribs. They never sent the cappuccino bar that was ordered. The wedding was fun & the place is nice but I wouldn't go back or recommend it to anyone.

Nice place for an event. Only one event at a time is handled. Bathrooms were clean, food was acceptable and drinks were as well. Large parking lot with a covered entrance. Has an exterior deck adjacent to the dining area. You can get a glimpse of the river from the deck. Only issue i had was they started clearing/cleaning up the event 0:45 minutes before the scheduled end. Seemed like we were being rushed out.

Our wedding reception at the Riverhouse was absolutely spectacular. The venue itself is gorgeous with an impressive lobby for cocktail hour. The ballroom is huge and has beautiful glass doors around the back wall that lead out to the deck. I cannot sat enough wonderful things about the staff here! Everyone is beyond helpful and accomodating from the first tour and informational meeting to the day of the wedding. We truly had an amazing experience, and our day was perfect! Food is excellent as well, with great options for cocktail hour and entres. You will not be disappointed in this venue!

Love love love this venue!! My husband and I were married there in March 2016!! Best staff ever any questions we had or menu requests were completely accommodated!! If you want your wedding day to be special they only host one wedding at a time and make sure that all of your guests are taken care of.
Not only do they ensure that your Day is spot on, they pack you a treat baggie of your desserts and a small bottle of champagne that you may have missed out on. Personal touches are the best! Highly recommend the team at river house!

The riverhouse was amazing !! Our wedding day was so special because of everyone involved. I dealt with Hattie and Kelley who were incredible. So attentive and met all of our needs.
