We stayed at the residence in belle Mare for 2 weeks at the beginning of January, apart from the cyclone that haunted us, the weather was good to very good! The hotel is getting a little old, there are corners everywhere and everything seems a bit thrown together. The food is of good quality and fresh, but of course it repeats itself after such a long time as there is a buffet every evening. The majority of the employees are friendly and courteous, but not really attentive, so for example we always had to beg for our "regular" table even after 1.5 weeks. Guests who come back every year and are in the residence for a long time are preferred to such an extent that you can no longer sit down at "their" table and 3 employees run when the gentlemen come dancing, even if others were there before that doesn't matter.
The cleanliness in the rooms left a lot to be desired, at least for a 5 star hotel, as we have already seen other things. The fact that a family with a child is quartered above the bar (where it is accordingly noisy) is beyond my understanding, even if it is a "nice" upgrade.
The beach is beautiful and if you are too bored to lie around you can do water skiing, snorkelling, SUP, pedalos and much more. employ. But be careful, as soon as a small wish arises, all parasols are kept closed and woe to you if you dare to touch one. A maximum of two of the beach staff are hard-working and guest-oriented, the others (including the senior staff) prefer to rest in the shade and guard the box with the bath towels. :) Nevertheless, Mauritius is and will remain a beautiful country and the sea is wonderfully clean and warm.
