Lovely shop - really knowledgable staff and passionate about Charleston. Great selection of relevant books and gifts. Shout out to the great staff who looked after our phone when we left it in the shop and helped get it back to us too!

We are big fans of this quaint and sophisticated gift shop! Located on historic King street the Preservation Society offers products with distinctive character such as Brackish Bow Ties & Pins, as well as our Charleston coastal product. It has been lovely doing business with Andy and his team.

A really neat spot. Has jewelry, candles. Nic nacs and books. Nice kid book section as well. They have 'Rosebud Roams Charleston' which is a great book for kids and adults alike. It's has top spots to visit in Charleston in the back. Its a great book for visitors. Great shop to stop in while you're downtown.

I went into the Preservation Society today and the local products they carry are absolutely incredible!!! For this, I would give them 5 stars hands down!! Unfortunately, the two women working there barely looked up from their phones/the computer the entire time I was there even after a crowd of people walked in. Although they did answer my husband s questions about their products, they made no attempt to encourage sales or explain anymore about the products than was asked. I hope that these ladies will step up their game and be better stewards of the amazing shop in which they work.

I really liked this neat gift shop of items made in Charleston. Prices aren't higher than other shops on King St. I liked the cute baby items and oyster dishes. Only wish the store was bigger!

I could have spent hours here. I love Charleston and they have hundreds of books to prove they do, too. When I first entered the building, I asked if they had ever heard of Susan Pringle, and they told me I was standing right next to her writing desk. I almost fell over. They then proceeded to show me a corner of their shop that caters to my specific field of study. I walked out of there with 8 books under my arm, completely satisfied. Gotta check out this place and talk to the employees, so knowledgeable!

Great shop with local products, including the full product line from Smithey Ironworks, which makes the best cast iron pan I've ever used.

Shop was taking social distancing and mask protocols seriously, as well - limiting the number of people in the shop and requiring everyone to wear a mask.

About The Preservation Society of Charleston

The Preservation Society of Charleston is a non-profit organization that has been serving as an advocacy leader for citizens concerned about preserving Charleston's distinctive character, quality of life, and diverse neighborhoods.
