We actually stayed in The Lodgings, lovely setting...

We actually stayed in The Lodgings, lovely setting. We were greeted with bread & milk. would have liked a clothes rail or wardrobe to hang clothes as we were attending a wedding & one hook wasn't enough, otherwise perfectly satisfied.

This is only open to the public by appointment, yo...

This is only open to the public by appointment, you can't just walk in! Apparently the owners have been asking for the brown tourist signs to be removed in order to stop people just dropping by (it is a private residence) but the signs have not been taken down.
3 stars given as I was unable to go inside due to the above.

The House isn't usually open to the public but was open as part of the Heritage Open Days. It was an excellent opportunity to have a look around the house as the owner herself led us round on a tour. A house full of history over the ages and grounds to match it. A pleasant afternoon outing.

Very interesting place to visit. Amazing to think King Canute also visited. The house has undergone many changes over it's life time but the present owners have a passion for history and have worked hard learn more about it's story. We also enjoyed some excellent cakes in the barn.
