I became aware of this great boutique hotel through a travel site - it's ranked # 1 in the ranking there, and that's one hundred percent earned, we quickly discovered.
I usually prefer cheap larger hotels on city breaks, which I do not mind if they are impersonal. With the pin-off, I had in advance sympathetic email contact, which turned into the arrival directly into nice personal pleasures. In an unobtrusive way, operators managed to make us feel at home right from the start.
Housed in a historic 1879 customs house on the south bank of the Nieuwe Maas River, this quirky design hostel is less than a 10-minute walk from the Erasmus Bridge and Wilhelminaplein metro station. It has eleven rooms and six suites. Our cozy, if a bit dark room was right under the roof and had u. a. by various striking ceiling beams special charm.
Paired with perfect equipment - these included a high-quality espresso machine, a DVD player (DVDs are available at the reception, see photos), a free bottle of water per day, a kettle and a pleasingly spacious bathroom. The Wi-Fi was of course included in the price. Especially helpful: The room had about ten outlets! That should be sufficient even for a high-tech couple for the bare essentials.
Directly in front of the hotel is a water taxi dock, which we did not use. If you are touristy close to the water, ask at the reception!
Since a picture says more than a thousand words, I refer to my photos for further details on the post.
My short summary: at the price (usually just over 100 Euro for the cheapest room) the perfect hotel. And another tip: Before making a reservation, it is advisable to compare the prices of several hotel portals and the official homepage. There are sometimes quite a few differences.
