a truly amazing experience in Ubud, Bali. Stayed at the Payogan with my wife for a week and it was a thoroughly pleasant experience. The service was outstanding and I would definitely highly recommend. Everything was available on request and the staff at the Payogan were extremely friendly and welcoming. I look forward to going back.

Overall a nice experience. The room was clean, the staff is friendly and the private pools are definitely a plus. Still, the hotel is showing some signs of the passing time. It could benefit a renovation. The electricity system is a mess. Like you need to get from the entrance to the nightstand to switch the light on the hallway. Not very convenient. The shower mixer would give you eather burning or cold water. They could also work on the moisture. Still a pleasant experience, but judging by what the competition is offering for the same price, it's time to get some work done!
Paradise. Staff very friendly and attentive. If you want to see the real bali this is the place to stay. Shuttle to Ubud and eBikes not too far away. Stayed in 104 and very private with great bath and shower.
Overall, we had a great time at Payogan. Particularly noteworthy is the location in the middle of nature and the concept of private villas. We got a free upgrade on arrival and loved our villa with private pool. The area is actually (as several guests report) getting old, you can see that especially in the bathrooms.
Villas: all in all a nice concept of private villas (some with a pool) with an amazing view of the rainforest. However, these can be very different in terms of the location in the resort, the structure (thatched roof or solid stone), the interior (modern or old-fashioned, cold and careless or with great attention to detail) and the privacy. Be careful with unsealed neighboring villas, it is like being in the same room with the neighbor, which can be very disturbing. The mattresses were very comfortable, but we couldn't cope with the high pillows and unfortunately there was no replacement.
Cleanliness: it is difficult to assess the cleanliness if the shower, etc. are calcified and should be replaced. Nevertheless, we had the impression that it was cleaned properly. A couple of the new towels were not entirely clean, however.
Service: was impeccable. The staff was always very friendly and accommodating.
Food: we really enjoyed breakfast here. There is plenty of choice and it tastes good. The coffee alone could be better. Dinner was ok.
While there were a few inconveniences with the room, restaurant food and spa, these were all resolved quickly and in our favor. Overall we had a nice stay here.
Peaceful and warm place... There's only a common pool so not for those who want a private pool experience.

The staff is very friendly, and read your wishes from the head! And this shuttle always picks you up for breakfast, really hot ;-) they also offer a shuttle bus, where you can move from the property to the city center for free !!

The place has been very carefully maintained. Brilliant location and very good landscape. Rooms were clean and neat. Facilities provided were good and sufficient.
The view is brilliant from the vila (we had a private pool Vila). But the services are very low and un-professional (I got a German information sheet even if I requested an English version, no working phone, very low lunch menu, some of personal are rude, we felt unsafe in the beginning etc).
Due to that unpleasures the vila was great - but keep in mind that you are near jungle and maybe you will see a lot of strange reptiles. We enjoyed the view and the beauty of the Payogan village.

Hotel has a very nice location in the middle of the "jungle". As many have already written, unfortunately not much is done to maintain the villas or the material does not withstand the weather. The hotel itself was built in 2002, but the outside of our villa was more reminiscent of a sleepy 100 year old temple. Also has its charm but is not what you would expect in this price range.
There is nothing wrong with the service, the staff and the facility in general. We especially liked the private pool of our villa.
We really enjoyed our stay at Payogan Villa Resort! First the resort is stunning. The massive rooms feature their own private pools, located on the side of a jungle. The staff were very helpful planning things to do and arranging for a driver (thank you). Can't wait to come back!

My wife and I have been in this hotel in 2 different rooms for 3 days. The first a villa with a pool and the second a villa. The rooms are large and spacious but the hotel is OLD and poorly maintained (ants and remnants of excrement in the room). Breakfast a mess and super expensive food and nothing good. It has been a real disappointment since we were coming from a real 5 * hotel, the Kamandalu hotel in Ubud. I have read many comments and hallucinate with them (they must have put us in the worst rooms) .... We are so pissed off that both my wife and I have written a comment. Really, don't go to this hotel ...
Romantic tropical dream

We had booked a garden view bungalow. After checking in, we are escorted to a room which could not be found in any advertisement and which of course did not correspond to our booked category at all. After our protest in this regard, we were immediately offered a free upgrade;) to a pool villa which we accepted with pleasure. The pool villa was to die for, albeit with a minor catch. We could of course only see the construction site below the villa at daybreak and hear it during the day. However, since we were out and about a lot and work was stopped in the afternoon around 5:00 p.m., we were still able to enjoy our private pool. The hotel complex is a paradisiacal garden and the villas and bogalows are arranged in such a way that you can enjoy your privacy undisturbed and almost unseen. The staff is friendly and very helpful and made a really relaxed impression on us. Certainly because the hotel was at most a third full and thus more staff than guests livened up the hotel. The breakfast was, as expected, monotonous American and the service of the kitchen with a la carte was not really good.
An excursion with the free hotel shuttle to Ubud-Centrum should of course be used. We explored the area around the hotel on foot and found a great hiking trail down to the Ayum River (also thanks to the friendly directions from the villagers).
All in all, one can say that this hotel is an ideal place for those looking for peace and quiet.
What makes this place special is the staff. They very friendly and always do their best to please you!
Our experience was very good and I hope the management board will try to fix some of the other issues mentioned by other guests in their reviews as they are according with the reality.
The hotel is located in the jungle in a superb setting. The villas have all the comforts, they have their own swimming pools, very clean. The food is delicious, the staff friendly. I recommend.

The system makes a very nice impression at first glance. The location on the hillside with a direct view of the jungle is really great. However, on closer inspection shows that especially in the rooms (we had already one of the more modern villas) room for improvement especially in the areas of care and room layout / usability are available.
In addition, organisationally even more is in it. Whether this has been due to the rather young staff or other circumstances, we may not judge. Our requests in English were either not fully understood or not handled. The room service also showed a strange behavior, as he during our about 1.5 hour absence (massage, the hotel was known) only the pillows from the bed on the couch and then disappeared.
The location of the above mentioned beautiful view only answer that you are very far away from points of interest. In addition, you hardly want to be outside the hotel, as the immediate area is not really inviting. The shuttle bus is thus a convenient but also a necessary way to see something of the area.
Conclusion: Not a bad hotel, which with a little more effort in the areas of care and organization would get a recommendation from us.
P.S .: The guitar-playing singer for dinner unfortunately lowers the relaxation factor of the food clearly. The jungle is loud and interesting enough. There is no need for more "music".

Spectacular grand oasis in a private valley of tropical views. Staff were awesome. At night the resort was beautifully lit up, perfect for delicious mix of local and western cuisine in the stunning outdoor restaurant. Local traditional dancers and BBQ were amazing. Loved the buggies up and down to our private pool villa!. Will miss cocktails overlooking the infinity pool. Spa was wonderful only wish we headed there at the start of our visit! Magical place to spend our wedding anniversary. :)
Private Villa experience or prison cell?
Overall the view was absolutely amazing! Although there's so much jungle you can really look at. Very comfortable pool, size could have been a little bigger. Room it's self needs some serious maintenance. It smelt quite damp, dusty and old. Try not to flush the toilet as the sewerage system is disgusting and the smell comes up through the toilet, giving the villa a smell you cannot undo. Room service, sounds convenient, well it's not. We ordered a pizza and lamb chops and chips. Let's just say it was not even eatable. We had to catch a shuttle bus into the main centre of ubud which took at least 20-25 mins to get a decent feed and when you were going to get picked up at a specific time you would be waiting at least 20-45 mins for the driver as no one tells you how overpopulated the Balinese island actually is. You have to go into a golf cart to Your villa and call reception when you want to be picked up to go somewhere. Throughout the night you can hear the revving of the golf cart picking and dropping off other guests.
Love nature? Yeah well so did I, until I was living with everything that should be outside. Geckos, mosquitos, ants, spiders & fungus were all present in the bathroom. Seriously reconsider as you might get some kind of skin Infection in the shower.
Water pressure was horrible in the shower!
And location was poor. Put some hard thought into this place before booking it.
The staff weren't very helpful either. Checked out a day earlier as it wasn't worth spending another night there.

The place is great, you feel like you live in the middle of a forest, but I did not like the food. The hotel is final and I do not recommend eating. The hotel and upon departure we paid the required amount but we did not have any money to return the rest to them. They paid an extra amount, arguing that the price of the currency had changed today. We missed the date of the trip ..

Enjoyed our time at the Payogan Villa Resort and Spa. As with other occasions when we have stayed at this hotel we have found the location and service excellent.
It's a hidden gem in Ubud. Very quite and serene. The amenities were great. Staff was even greater. Will be returning very soon!

Amazing views of the jungle, excellent service. The first time you arrive impresses a little because it is hidden in a quite poor area.
Wonderful service by great hospitality staff and manager - absolutely loved our stay. Initially a bit concerned with the older buildings but it grew on us quickly and appreciated the character and charm of the place and the people who all work there .

I would not recommend it at all. The whole pigeon is dormant in all sizes. Insects enter from everywhere an ant mosquito, meaning even if we are in the midst of its supposed forest, they put a system for insects, especially mosquitoes.
Be careful when you send your clothes to the washing machine, it may return dirtier

To the environment:
Ubut center could be reached quickly with the hotel shuttle or taxi. There is a lot to see and do there. Negotiating in any kind of business (clothes, souvenirs, taxi rides) is a MUST here! Otherwise you pay a tourist price that is far too high.
The hotel complex:
Unfortunately, her best days are already behind her. But it is still very beautiful and heavenly!
The green areas are very well maintained.
The sanitary facilities are unfortunately not worth 5 stars!
A European standard cannot be expected here. For comparison:
An IBIS BUDGET had nicer, newer and cleaner toilets and showers than was the case here.
Therefore here 2 star deduction, as my sense of cleanliness could not be satisfied here.
But with a little disinfectant spray it worked.

Great service. Feel like you are in Bali. Just beautiful. Needs a bit more of a food menu and cocktail menu and serve other drinks by the pool. Mayb need a little line outside to hang clothes on to dry.

Beautiful grounds, hidden paradise in the rainforest. Great villas there are more modern and rustic the most beautiful is by far 216th The old management has unfortunately the area as well as the villas a bit degenerate. The new management is renovating at every turn (no noise pollution). As soon as the work is completed this will probably be the most beautiful resort I have ever seen. The food at the resort is delicious and value for money is good. You can get all food including breakfast in the villa. The staff is warm and very helpful-great! Actually it is a shame to leave the resort, but there is still a free daily shuttle to Ubud and return.
Dreamlike resort with pool villas, authentic food and extremely attentive service. The terrain is typically Balinese and reminiscent of temples. A river flows through the middle of the grounds and the view into the Jungle is fantastic.

Overall great hotel and I'd recommend it to everyone, very close to most of touristic attractions.

After the wild kuta, Ubud was a pleasant change.
The area is super idyllic and due to the partially natural spots, the area also adapted perfectly to the surroundings.
The rooms were super clean, equipment was fine.
With a cool Bintang, on the separate and covered terrace of the private pool, you could really absorb the beauty of Bali.

I was in a private pool villa.The room was big, clean and had a baldachin bed.The terrace was very spacey, located somewhat above the private infinity pool which resulted in a breathtaking view: the infinity pool with the lush jungle in the background.The bathroom was dreamy, just like your own private spa area. Simply unforgettable!

A hotel in the lap of nature. A property that can be much more than what it is. To begin with the approach to the hotel is fairly bad with broken roads. It is also 6-7 kms away from the main Ubud centre which is quite colorful and lively.
The Villas are big and spacious with biig bed and huge bathroom. The private pool of the Villa is good however it can be much much better. The upkeep of the Villa, there's huge scope of improvement. The walls and overall look is average. More than the Villa it's the approach that is not up to the mark. It's not lit well and looks dated. The property looks beautiful in the day time but dawns an eerie look and feel. The staff is quite friendly and prompt. The commute to the rooms or villas are made swifter by the buggies or the cart. The Villas on the lower deck, jungle facing Villa have a problem of drainage as almost all the water outlets take a lot of time to drain out the water.
Now coming to the breakfast as that's the only meal that we had twice. The options are quite limited and the layout is quite traditional and old school to say the least. A basic cappuccino that you'd get at any other hotel especially at 5 star properties isn't a part of the breakfast. If you want one you pay for it. The view is simply superb from the breakfast area and the pool looks fabulous too. A property that could be much much more but let's you down on a lot of counts. I was tempted to give it 3.5 or even 3.75 stars but holding myself back as it has a long way to improve customers experience. I wish them all the best and hope they come good and live up to the expectations.
