Professional, thorough and incredibly knowledgable when it comes to sports injuries. Edward was particularly helpful with my specific injury and was able to answer all questions and provide detailed instructions on follow up exercises to carry out. Would highly recommend.

I was set to have surgery on my back when a friend of mine suggested that I go to see Joel at the Oval Physiotherapy. How lucky was that! A most caring practice with true professionals. My back is now much, much better and I have been able to go back to my hiking - which I thought was lost to me forever. I cannot say a big enough thank you to Joel and his team. I would recommend this Clinic without hesitation.

Joel is an absolute professional and is the key re...

Joel is an absolute professional and is the key reason I did not undertake surgery for my shoulder rotator cuff.

I saw Joel in August 2017 in tears and feeling very worried. An MRI had shown a bad tear in my shoulder and I had seen a specialist who had said surgery was required. The tear was a result of overuse and surgery meant no driving for 6 weeks and obviously none of my sport for the next 6 months plus intensive rehab.

Joel was calm, direct, emphatic and his review was the injury was on the cusp, meaning I could go either way. Physio was certainly an option but I had to be prepared to do repetitive in his words boring exercises. A subsequent second opinion from another specialist surgeon confirmed Joel s review.

So began my journey. I was determined to do my best and I dedicated myself to the rehabilitation. Was it boring and repetitive? Yes but the results were amazing. I have always been passionate about sport and knew if I was to avoid surgery I had to commit to the program. It was hard in the few couple of months but slowly I would see the hard work pay off. Joel said we should see changes in about first 6 weeks. I admit I doubted him especially in the first tough weeks of rehab. At six weeks Joel was right I got really positive feedback.

I was finally able to sleep without pain and at each review my shoulder got stronger. After about 6 months I remember seeing Joel earlier this year with the biggest smile as I was back to more normal activities without pain.

However every 3 days I commit to doing a very short time period to the arm exercises as maintenance. No need to see Joel again unless pain comes back.

As anyone who has done a tear like mine, you will know it will never heal but you just want to ensure the tear does not get worse. Sure maybe down the track I may require surgery but I will make sure that time is well down the track.

I had also down a tear in my hamstring a couple of years ago and another tear in my glut min which was causing pain in my hip. I am currently seeing Joel for strengthening exercises. Again I threw myself into his program and the results after 3 weeks have been amazing.

A word of advice for anyone wanting results, dedicate yourself to Joel s customised programme. Remind yourself when it feels challenging and or boring that the results will come. Also if Joel says not to do a certain activity listen because over time you will be able to do it again.

Joel Thankyou for everything you are such an inspiration to me and to be pain free and participating back in my dance classes again is all thanks to you.

I
