The Olive Tree Mediterranean Cafe Review

Had the gyro platter, gyro salad, tzatziki and spanikopita. All were very tasty. Service was great. Prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended!

I love this place! Every time I go there, I get wonderful customer service. I love how you can clearly see everything that is vegetarian or vegan, it's a place where literally everyone has something to eat. I've been going for years, and will continue to. The only thing I would consider to be an even greater food service place is that I'd love to see them use something besides foam carry out cases (because they are very hard to recycle). Other than that, this place is great, I highly recommend to anyone wanting a great Mediterranean food restaurant to eat at!

The Olive Tree has some of the best food I have ever eaten. They have amazing appetizers in the Hummus Ful and Mushroom Hummus. The lentil soup is has huge chunks of vegetables and lentils and the Seafood soup has huge potatoes and good sized amounts of seafood and tastes amazing. The "Fast Foods" of Lamb + Beef Pita's and French Fries are relatively cheap compared to the full meals and will run 10 bucks. The best mean is by far the Pastitsio(spelling) which is Eggplant, potato, zucchini, and some other vegetables with Ground beef with a tomato pasta sauce and bechamel cream. Next up would be the Chicken Mujadara which has rice, lentil, onions and other veggies cooked up together with some amazing spices. My concern lately is that the original owner who was very attentive to the purchasing of vegetables and halal meats supposedly sold to a company. From what I have been told not much has changed at least in preparation, but I don't know about Quality control anymore.

The food was wonderful. The waitresses was attentive and friendly. I will definitely be going back!

My husband and I have dinner here on a fairly regular basis. The atmosphere is friendly and the food is delicious. Our server tonight was Rachel, and she was great. I would definitely recommend asking for her if you visit. She was very attentive and kept our meal moving without rushing us. :) Overall, it's a great spot to eat in Hilliard!

Great food and have always had pleasant service. Had to wait for a table one time (pre-covid) and was offered free fire fries (absolutely amazing appetizer) to enjoy while waiting 15 mins max to be seated. Always enjoy local and authentic food.

Ordered through Grub Hub at 5:55; received notice order, would be ready between 6:20 - 6:30, Restaurant called and said they needed another 10 mins. Got there waited another 20 mins, then get home, order was wrong! Tried to call them was told there phones weren't working at all! So my gyro was a small instead of large, no sauce at all, also no spice on it (Paid extra for nothing) Barely any sauce on my wife's Chicken gyro! Will be a while before giving this place another try or recommendation.

Waitress was great and very attentive. Enjoyed our visit and the food.

My wife and I stopped in (tonight) for only our second visit to this place ever. First experience (last week) was great so we wanted to come back. The place was about half full at 6pm. It took 30 mins for my wife to get her soup and after an hour we split. Left money on the table for her wine and soup. My wife told our waitress what was up. She said she would package our food up to go for us....we passed. Figured if it was ready to packaged up it should have been on our table. Server didn't seem to car that $40 was walking out the door and future business. They seemed to care more about the GrubHub orders than dine-in customers as they were too busy prepping take out orders to worry about us. I guess we'll stick with Crazy Greek II just down the street.

Nice selection, food came quickly. Good food for the price. Will stop again.

We usually buy at Eat Greek, but were closed on a Sunday. This place was just as good and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful!

Stopped in for a bite to eat and we tried a few different things from the menu. The food was really good and we even had some leftovers. One thing I liked about the waitress was she was very enthusiastic about the menu and the quality of the food. I would recommend this place for locals and those from out of town.

the food is great but the service and wait time over the last couple months have been disappointing. the work up front seems confused or disorganized as to what is going on with orders etc.

Everything was delicious and our server, Rachel was more than knowledgeable of the menu items! The chicken shawarma was incredible!

We mostly do order and pickup. Since we are vegetarians, lots of things to choose from at this location and everything is consistently great. Hummus, vegetarian flatbread and falafel salad are always our classic go to meals.

One of my favorite Greek restaurants.....try the Greek Burger, spanakopita, and Israeli salad!

*Our family always loved this place when it came to Mediterranean/ Greek food.....don't know what's going on lately other than new owner either can't keep up or doesn't want to hire enough help?? If you call for a takeout order, they pick up but don't answer?? You can hear people in the background but no greeting, no "Hello".....nothing!! Also.... they changed their phone number and don't even get me started on the erratic operation hours that change like the Ohio weather!! All I know....is we miss "The Olive Tree" of old!! Fantastic dishes no matter what you would order and a conscientious family style service that couldn't be beat!!! I can almost taste the Spanakopita, now.....but no one answers the phone and even though the website says open for takeout...the doors are locked!! My loss, your loss, Hilliard's loss!!!
P.S. Only docking it two stars because of Covid-19's effects on the restaurant businesses...but many businesses in the dining industry have done a great job with the new business model of delivery and takeout!

My favorite Mediterranean place! I looovvee the hummus ful and the hummus mushrooms. You honestly can't go wrong with anything that you get there (although I did learn that I personally have a disdain for grape leaves). The staff is incredibly friendly, the bathroom is clean, the overall restaurant is clean, and you can always see what music they are playing! The parking is a little bumpy but it's not unbearable.

It's very casual but very delicious! Great selection of both vegetarian as well as vegan entrees! Highly recommend to the vegetarian and of course there are plenty meat items which I didn't try but if they are half as good as the vegan plates, there'll be no complaints :-) Friendly and very efficient staff. I'll be back! :-)!

Me and my girlfriend had an excellent experience at this restaurant. The restaurant was accommodating to her restricted diet and we had excellent service from the staff. We were able to call ahead and reserve a table and all of the food was delicious. I look forward to coming here with her again!

Big portions, good food. The salads are a little unimaginative and bland, but hey.

Great vegan food. Cory made a slight miss order turn delightful experience. Loved the atmosphere for a sunday. Peacefully quiet.

Food is nothing to write home about and is very inconsistent. Sometimes service is fast and other times service is super slow. They have good mushroom hummus, though.

My friends and I have met there several times and it is always great!

After moving back in town, me and my husband decided to finally try this place. It did not disappoint! We got the baba ghanouj, hummus, vegetarian grape leaves, couscous entree, and chicken schawarma on a bed of more hummus (we eat alot). My couscous entree was amazing, and the portion was so large that I took it home and I've gotten 4 more meals out of it! Our waitress Olivia was knowledgeable about the menu, able to immediately point out vegan dessert options, and made our first time visit easy and fun. We will be back!

You get a lot of food here for a good price. The spicy fries had a ton of flavor. The gyro omlet was very good. The feta cheese garnish added a lot of taste.

Tried it twice. First time gyro with overdone dry meat and no sauce. Second time the chicken was super overdone. Neither meal was finished. Will not try a third time.

STOMACH FLU After eating here! Food isn't authentic & I was shooing away flies most of the time instead of eating. There are definitely much better Mediterranean restaurants in the area.

The food is great but we've had a few visits were the service was really slow. It seems to be hit or miss on how fast you can eat.

Had I written this review a few months ago I would have told you this was among one of my favorite restaurants in all of the Columbus area. The first time my pick up order was incorrect, I thought it was a fluke. The second time I thought maybe the owner had gone on an extended vacation to the Mediterranean. I was hoping. Unfortunately the number of mistakes and the poor quality food has risen to the level that I will probably not eat here by choice again. Come to find out, the restaurant is indeed under new ownership. It just isn't the same.

I was very impressed with both the food and service at The Olive Tree. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable and the manager checked in with us and helped bring out our dinners.

All the food was good, but definitely make sure to get the fire fries, the feta and cilantro are the perfect pairing to the spicy sauce. The only wasn't a big fan of was the hummus, it wasn't bad, just a bit bland.

If you've never been here you are missing out, I definitely recommend stopping in!

The fire fries are the best french fries I have ever had in my life.

The food is really delicious here. You can't go wrong with the gyro sandwich here. My wife likes to come here because they have gluten free food options. The service is always friendly. The atmosphere is clean and cozy. My daughter colored a picture of an Easter Bunny and they hung it above their cash register for her which she was so excited about.

The baklava was amazing as always. And our server Rachel is the best!

Food was amazing, and the plates were piled high in food. Loved the lamb shank, and humus was spot on.

The quality and flavor of the food has greatly suffered. They microwave the food and over cook it and the flavors are bland and not appealing. Time to move on to a new Mediterranean option.

This is not a Mediterranean food

Food is excellent but the management is horrible. In the middle of my dinner, whilst talking to my date, a woman claiming to be an owner harshly interrupted us without any effort at politeness, pointed to my empty beer bottle and demanded to see my ID immediately. I'm 36 years old and certainly look of age to drink, but she pressed the issue with an exceptionally nasty tone of voice and then proceeded to berate our server. Why this woman thought it appropriate to insult me and make a spectacle of checking my ID for a beer I had already consumed is beyond me but I will not return to this establishment.

This a great little neighborhood restaurant. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed! The owner makes a point to visit each table and remembers you when you come back. My wife and kids are more adventurous in choosing restaurants than me, a "meat and potatoes " guy. But even I have several favorites here...Love the Gyro!

The is "The Place" to eat. Great food and lots of it. A great value. We WILL be back!!!

Delicious! We had the falafel wrap and the hummus. Everything was very fresh and flavorful. We will definitely go back again in the future.

Why can t I post a picture?? I paid $10.25 for a large gyro with 4 pieces of meat in it. I d be curious to hear from the owner...I have pictures. Otherwise disputing with my CC company. Come on man!!

Very good Mediterranean/Greek food reasonably priced.

This is one of the best places in all of Columbus. The Gyros are delicious, the spanikopita is the best I've ever had, and the grape leaves are delicious. Our server Rachel tonight provided great service.
