Wonderful options for the meat eaters and the vegetarians like my family. Great flavors and really nice staff. Don't forget to try the AMAZING strawberry jam!

Such good breakfast! Took so long for me to decide because the menu is big. Sat at the community table to get seated faster. I can't wait to go back.
Big menu but somehow nothing much looked appealing. Fairly overpried for USA. French toast big serving but extremely average! Tasted like egg, and supermarket crappy bread, how can you charge extra for maple syrup when it is a must for french toast! Omelette was fine- toast hard. Servers were friendly. One toilet for whole restaurant- really? Got extremely sick straight after eating here. Was either from here or earlier meal at Birch Bay Cafe.
Great, fresh, many options, good service
Charming
Walked in; atmosphere was cozy, light and warm. Nice soft live music. No wi-fi. Walked out.
Nice Vegan Options. Service is a tad on the slow side.
Even though their menu says they TRY to accommodate dietary restrictions I didn't experience this today. Just a warning for those who's life is controlled by allergies and sensitivities; unless their menu lists the items you can handle they won't help you out by changing anything so you can actually eat there.
Live musician playing smooth jams at 930am! Staff was friendly. Hipster get you're own water. Everything local. Good Tea, child friendly. Food is good.
Very good food! Gets busy at times, but has good service.
Soooo many yummy vegetarian options for breakfast!!
Wonderful food like home cooking. Good atmosphere and decent prices.
Enjoyed an amazing breakfast this morning. Good coffee too.
I've been coming here since I was 10. Twenty years later and this place is still nothing short of amazing. Food is delicious, staff is kind and welcoming, and the place is always clean, warm, and inviting.
Place gets busy and there's normally a wait, but well worth it! If you go at opening it's usually quieter and can avoid the crowds.
The only complaints I have about this place are that they're so popular that it's often crowded, and that I think that their black beans taste bad.
That said, they have a great variety of food (including GOOD vegetarian options, good prices, and it's nice see that they care about more than the bottom line.
Great atmosphere, live music, fresh jam and local food. Can't be beat!
Terribly slow service for mediocre food at high prices. The coffee is great though.
Have been going to old town for 20 years. Love the food! I don't mind the wait. Always worth it.
Popular spot with friendly wait staff. Special French Toast was really good. Biscuits and gravy with poached eggs not so good.
One of my top picks for Bellingham breakfast. We've been going here for years, and still can't get enough of the delicious taste and warm environment. Will continue to visit again and again.
A Bellingham standard, this place is awesome. All kinds of yummy breakfast options in a chill downtown environment. They've got a few organic options including eggs and OJ, just be sure to ask when you order. Eating alone? There's a couple of community tables to meet other hamsters.
Be ready for a wait on the weekend. Eat before about 8:30 and you're good, after that you should get a donut at Rocket to tide you over.
Always a good choice for the healthier type of breakfast and lunch. Yum yum yum
Can be busy on weekends and during tourist season. Awesome eats, and excellent service!
Delicious food that you feel good about eating. Very kid friendly, there is even a play corner with toys and books. Experienced wait staff. Our waiter memorized the entire order of the table of ten next to us. Highly recommended.
Had a great meal this morning. Good coffee to. Will be back
The service was super awesome, even for such a busy place. Biscuits and gravy were tasty, so was the French toast.
Our first visit to Old Town Cafe. The drip coffee was aromatic and delicious without the sour aftertaste. Food was served piping hot, great looking, and enjoyable to the last bite. Though they were very busy, the servers took the time to welcome us and chat a little.
Note to all who are new: when you get in and there's a line, make your way to the front counter to self register for a table.
Old Town Cafe, it's worth a visit or two.
The food is very tasteful and there are lots of choices for vegetarians and vegans. Sometimes it is quite busy and busy/noisy as a result.
Delicious place for breakfast and hearty real food. Good coffee. Great service! Be prepared to line up but it was worth the wait.
Great breakfast! Loved the chicken sausage links, eggs, and black beans.
Fresh, local food. Great vegetarian and vegan options, but delicious meat dishes as well. A friend recommended it to us on our trip to Bellingham, and it was well worth it!
I'm always prepared to wait 30 mins or so; it's well worth the wait! From their specials, to the regular menu items, to the live music, this is definitely among the top places in Bellingham. I love this place. Their wait staff are kind, efficient, the meals excellent, the atmosphere is bright, fun but not overwhelming or too loud. When we're up early, it's always great to be with the first group in the door on the weekends. I can't afford to go out for brunch often, but when I do, I support Old Town!
Fresh and Friendly!! Try the chipotle chicken sandwhich!
Delicious food and fantastically friendly staff (lovely with our little daughter). Yummy coffee cake to top everything off!
Great little hole in the wall. Good organic based regular old breakfasts. Good service (even "ruined" my companion's bacon by her request). Nice, cozy little place - it's popular, so you may have to wait for a table. Very good value - I would definitely go again!
Old Town Cafe Thanksgiving dinner was a real treat! Due to some last-minute planning changes I decided to stop in right at the end of the scheduled meal. The turkey stuffing and gravy were wonderful and the attentive staff were friendly and quick to offer coffee and bus tables.
Lovely place, lovely staff, excellent vittles, amazing mimosas, stunningly good prices. A gem.
Breakfast done right. They even have vegan options though nowhere near as tasty as real eggs, the tofu got the job done. Also, staff was coolest and best of anywhere I've been. The place is cute to boot and there was someone playing the guitar. Sunday brunch never been so good.
My husband and I were visiting several family members in Washington for Christmas (2013) and had a wonderful experience in Rainer, Seattle and Bellingham over the period of a week. One of the very worst experiences was when we went to Old Town Cafe for breakfast. We were told that HomeSkillet was the best, however, it was a Monday and was closed. We ended up going to Old Town and were extremely disappointed and angry by the time we wasted, calories we wasted and money we wasted. It was very busy and we put our name on the list and waited. We had a dog in the car and were trying to hurry as fast as we could. We kept seeing people getting called before us yet we tried to remain patient. After what we were told would be a 20 min. wait- we waited for an hour. When I finally got up to ask what the deal was, I was told my name had been removed from the list. My husband and I had not missed our names being called, as we had been sitting right by the front near the hostess the entire time. Upon getting seated we had the rudest waitress I've ever encountered in my entire life. We are not hard people to please but we felt so uncomfortable by this waitresses dirty looks, demeanor and strange comments that we felt like we didn't even want to bother her for another cup of coffee. Our waitress (very long brown hair, snobby/serious expression, medium build, I think red lipstick) gave me dirty looks the entire breakfast... no idea why, I'm still questioning to this day why she hated me (a complete stranger) so much. She gave my husband snarky comments about his hat (it was the brand Fox, a motorcycle company)- and replied something snarky as well when he inquired about a ham-free dish (on my behalf)- and made fun of his question while wearing a "Fox" hat... this was weird, didn't make any sense and made him feel extremely uncomfortable. We felt as if this waitress thinks she is extremely cool and we obviously weren't "cool" enough for her or Bellingham or their cafe. My husband and I didn't understand why we were treated so poorly. We started over-analyzing it, thinking perhaps we weren't "hippie" enough or "vegan" enough or "hipster" enough. Our waitress never replied to us when we said thank you, not even a smile. We also heard someone else complain about the "moody waitress". My husband works in the restaurant industry and we are kind, relaxed and very easy to please people. I've never written a poor review before. However, this was such a horrible experience we felt one of us needed to say something. We understand if you're having a bad day, it happens, but o make your customers feel unwelcome, out of place and hesitant to even ask for coffee in fear of a dirty look or snide comment- is just wrong. Lastly, the food was sub-par. It was cold, it was food we could've made ourselves and it was bland. Terrible experience. Again, the worst part was that waitress. How dare she make us feel so unwelcome. She ended up being replaced by another server 3/4 into our meal- by a nicer waitress but still a little snide. We were seated in the big room, near the front windows, against the wall on 12/23/13. So to whomever was our server, I hope either karma or her boss brings this to her attention. I hope this is not a Bellingham thing. I've visited there 3 times and never had a bad experience until this. I was embarrassed and sad my husband was treated so terribly his first trip there. Now he thinks Bellingham is filled with rude, snarky, snobby people who think they're way too cool for everybody else.
Old timey and great food - the best breakfast in Bellingham
Strong coffee served with the tiny canister of cream. Tortilla and blackbeans as a breakfast side option. Jar of dummy thick jam as a table condiment.
Pleasant atmosphere, food OK - staff could be nicer, potatoes were too dark
One of the best places to get breakfast or lunch in town. Specials are always amazing. Last time I split a roasted cauliflower salad (bright and herby); a big grilled sandwich with chicken, arugala, tomato jam, and cheese; a super creamy parsnip apple soup; and two London Fogs with my sister for under $30. Portion size is generous, we were totally full. Love the letterpress-printed menus too.
Love this place. Gf options. Not your typical diner food. Delicious.
Has plenty of options for meateaters, vegetarian and vegan. Nearly all foods organic and local. I had a multi grain pancake with real maple syrup. Pancake light and fluffy. Also tried some of the freezer jam. Very good. Our wait staff was very cordial. On small detail, though, Sign of the cafe is hard to see from the street because of trees that have grown up around it. Google Map also wanted to seend me up a side street when there was plenty of parking in front of the cafe.
I got take out breakfast here passing through Bellingham. Their breakfast burrito is seriously amazing, one of the best burritos I ve eaten. 10/10 would recommend!
We went on new year's day for a late breakfast. When we arrived, to our dismay, there was a bunch of people waiting outside and a few inside. However the staff explained how deceiving the wait time looked as a few groups were almost done and the wait time wouldn't take too long. We were seated sooner then we were told and the service was excellent, they were courteous, and not over bearing. The food was delicious and flavorful, we didn't feel rushed to leave even though there were more people waiting. It's in a nice location, and parking is free on the weekends on the street. We will definitely go back.
One of the best vegetarian friendly restaurant. They had such wonderful options and everything was so tasty. Friendly staff and good customer service. Local music created good vibe in the cafe.
Waited 20 minutes for someone to take my order, they never came back. Didn't bring a water as well. So I left.
I love love love this place. It's always busy during the weekend, so plan ahead to wait, but the food is delicious and worth it! Vegan options are plentiful and tasty, though I would love a vegan pancake option!
Food was delicious and service was friendly and great!
Great brkfst.
Friendly place to come back to.
The best food (breakfast) in Bellingham. The coffee is to die for.
Came in with our family on a Sunday morning, waited for 45 minutes for a table, but it was 100% worth the wait!!! Fresh, delicious organic ingredients made our food so amazingly good, we all left feeling full and happy and so healthy! Grateful for this wonderful place and the warm, friendly service as well. Highly, highly recommended!!
Fantastic breakfast food. It has a very local and homey feel.
Food was very good and portions were generous. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Espresso coffee was available which is always a bonus! Highly recommend.
Very good vegan options for breakfast.
Very friendly staff, the place has a good wibe.
Old Town feels like home. Great service and delicious food; gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options. It is always worth the wait and go for the community table if you are alone or looking to get in or out quickly.
Wonderful food and service in a comfortable atmosphere and often great live music. Try the home made gainola, baked in butter.
Friendly placd, good food, nice atmosphere.
For me and my wife, the food
was good but nit exciting, probably because I am Vegan
.
They have a good variety of foods but the Vegan ones, at least for our first visit
Weren't exciting.
However, we aren't typical and I wouldn't
Hesitate to recommend them to anyone who
loves fresh tasting food made eith libe.
Was so thrilled to find this place on a work trip to Bellingham! The menu was great and my breakfast was delicious. There was a lovely musician strumming on a guitar as well. I will return
Bellingham has a few good breakfest places, this is certainly one of them
Yum!!
This is usually one of my favorite breakfast places. It s extremely busy on the weekends, so either expect to wait a decent amount of time if you aren t going to sit at the community table, or get there early if you can. It has a kid corner with toys and books which is incredibly helpful for rowdy children like my toddler. The only thing that makes me give 4 stars instead of five is sometimes the order portions are slightly inconsistent, but it doesn t always happen. That being said, I do still love this place and bring my family pretty frequently.
