Rented a house in Cobham station they only fixed the house temporarily then the electric went out in about half the house rodents literally were coming chewing holes in the walls and when it rained the floor started to give way in certain rooms...they expected me to pay 1200$ for that. The new house company is not a good choice for people who want trust worthy landlords.
If your looking to waste time and be told the incorrect information, look no further.. The New House Company and it's employees lack the professionalism and urgency when helping clients find a home that suits them. If it was at all possible to give zero stars, I would. My husband and I have been looking to move back to the Cville area since he returned from his tour overseas and Adrienne was "helping" us to look at homes in the area that would suit our needs. One of the main issues is that she had absolutely no clue what was all included in the lease for the home. Upon receiving the lease, and yes, we had to PAY in order to even view the lease, the information discussed was not the same. Also, the landlord had some of the most nitty-gritty things HANDWRITTEN on this lease. Upon calling the Broker, Amy, we were given yet again a whole different answer, "Well, this is our company policy." Not only did this woman lack compassion and understanding in the situation, but she also failed to explain why a company policy was not disclosed by one of her own employees. I had called and left a message with this woman and it took 5 days, FIVE WHOLE DAYS to get an answer. And the best part, it wasn't her that returned the call. It was the Realtor. Do yourself a favor, look elsewhere for a company that won't lead you astray and tell you incorrect information and cash your check as soon as possible.
The New House Company does not promise you heaven but delivers reality and what the market generates. They respond quickly and very punctual and responsive. I would highly recommend The New House Company for your property management needs.

The representative for this company really gave it up for us to get us into the property we were hoping to get into for the rent we were needing. Glad we have good representation, I hope it continues through the duration of the lease.
TERRIBLE TO ALL! Will take advantage of any and everyone. They are self serving and do not listen to complaints from on-time paying tenants. They are constantly unprofessional in emails as well as phone conversations. Cannot believe they are still in business. DO NOT USE THEM.
I knew moving from out of state was going to be a difficult process, especially in Cville. I was at a disadvantage and needed some one to advocate for me. Adrienne stepped in and filled that role. The process from beginning to end was such a blessing. I never got the feeling that I was being mislead or any dishonesty. Adrienne and the rest of the folks at New House Company went above and beyond to help me find the perfect place. I couldn't be more grateful for their guidance, commitment, and honesty during the process. I've been moved in for the last month and am extremely happy to come home to a place that I love!

YIKES! This place is horrible they don t respond to inquiries about spaces and then after trying and trying to get ahold of them when they finally get back to you they act as if you're bothering them to rent a space they are trying to lease!!!!

I planned to rent with this company but due to the attitude I received from the staff I decided not to. They were rude. Website was very unclear. Asked for a tour date and I chose one and then Adrienne reports they only do tours on weekdays. Receptionist had no clue what was going on. Overall unprofessional.
If I could give 0 stars trust me I would. BEWARE OF THIS BUSINESS! This is the most unprofessional, unethical business I have ever come across. I leased an office space for my business and the 1.5 years were an absolute nightmare. From cleaning that was promised in my room not being done to shady business practices I cannot shout loud enough to stay far far away from this company. When I initially signed my lease I was told blinds were going to be put up as the ones in the space currently were warped and broken, needless to say after months of checking in and being told they "were working on it" the blinds were never put up and I ended up purchasing and installing the blinds myself. Also, don't expect any of these people to respond to your emails or return your calls- they will ignore and take days to respond (if they even do respond) as I assume they just don't want to be bothered to do their jobs. They take the term unprofessional to new levels because if you expect them to resolve any issues you have questions about, well, they wont. I had a tenant in the building come into my room, opened my door and everything, and screamed at me. They said that they couldn't tell a tenant to change the way they are. So it was okay to be harassed in my workplace. The same tenant came back and the same situation happened again and nothing was done (this was all over the scents of my candles upsetting the tenant). I had multiple clients of mine tell me another tenant was rude to them and off-putting when they would enter the building. After a few complaints about the same tenant and one situation that was beyond unacceptable I reached out hoping they could help. Well, I was told that they were not going to do anything because they were friends with the tenant. The way they handled both of these situations confirmed to me that the reason the people in this building act the way they do and behave so unprofessionally is because this company allows them to. I have never seen or heard of issues like these in ANY of the office spaces had worked in previously, and I have never witnessed situations between tenants brushed off so carelessly before. I left the building before my lease was up as me and my partner were relocating out of state. This move was the biggest headache I have ever had to deal with. They told me conflicting information, I had to keep correcting them on information they'd given previously, it was just horrific. The worst part of it was that they made me pay a fee to break the lease but said I still had to pay rent monthly? these are just a few of the things I experienced within my time renting from them, and after talking with professionals in other fields I've learned they have a horrific reputation in Charlottesville and have done the same to others. I write this to warn the public of them and to hopefully save somebody the headache, stress and money they've taken from me. There are much more reputable options in Charlottesville, DON'T settle for these fools.

Everyone on staff was helpful, understanding, quick to respond, and professional. We are so grateful for all of your support and help, for it made a stressful situation not stressful at all.
Worst place to rent from they are an absolute nightmare and would never wish the experience I had on anybody! Having rented from other companies I would highly recommend going elsewhere. These people just want your money and don t care about you. I ve never felt less valued as a tenant than renting from New House Company. Just go somewhere else!
In all my experience with property managers, it does not get better than The New House Company. They were always extremely professional, took full responsibility for overseeing all matters with the property, and all had the best team attitude. I look forward to working with them again. I would recommend them to anyone seeking property management.
New House Company is a crook and slumlord. They rent slums and do not return security deposits. They claim damage above the security deposit for pre-existing damage. If I could I would give a negative rating.
I rented from them for 2 years and always paid my rent on time.
They were always quick to repair leaky toilets or sinks. You will probably have to pay a carpet cleaning company as part of the deal ($150) when you leave. Also they can begin showing your place 3 months before you leave so be ready for that!
When I received my deposit back they had subtracted $200 for lightbulbs and a sewn shade!

$200!

Horrid. Absolutely horrid experience. I have been renting for the past five years and never have had such an awful experience than I did working with The New House Company. Misinformation between the realtor and the broker, given different stories and costs associated throughout the entire process and the lack of communication is appalling. I would contact the realtor (I'll save the name) and potentially not hear back from her for multiple days as she doesn't answer her phone, only text. When we finally got the information we needed we had to pay the security deposit just to see the lease document. That was weird, but I continued. On the document was hand-written clauses by I assume the landlord which contradicted all of the information I was told by the realtor. At the end of the day it was too nitpicky (understandably the landlord probably got screwed previously) however, it seemed like we would repair everything in the home while the landlord owned the title, profited off us while doing nothing in return. Might as well have bought my own house. When confronting the broker we received untimely responses and unprofessionalism. When asked to coordinate with the landlord on requests it took over five business days and us reaching out to even get a proper response. We called it off, it was sketchy and I couldn't work with this company. My alarm warnings were going CRAZY!
We asked the realtor for immediate return of the security deposit which she agreed to with distain. It took two weeks and we still didn't hear anything back. I reached out AGAIN. And got a response from the broker. Seems like the realtor (not surprisingly) didn't pass off the information to the appropriate individuals to return the deposit. After I demanded the deposit back it was done in approx. four days. The fastest effort I've seen by this group. This company took over three weeks to do what competitors can do in two days. It put my family in a bind as we moved halfway across the country and if I could do more than a review I would. Cannot recommend enough to stay away when renting. They might be better when purchasing a home, but I wouldn't recommend putting your eggs in this basket.

Is it possible to give 0 stars? Honestly a complete lack of professionalism from all within this company. They don t care if you are a paying tenant, they never listen to your needs. Their leases are for the company benefit ONLY AND WILL SCREW YOU IN THE LONG RUN.

Will take your money for an application for a space and deny you for any reason if you don t fit the cookie cutter look of the tenant they want. They ll make you think you ll be approved take your money and won t bother getting back to you after that money is taken. When you finally get ahold of them well it s this or that reason you got denied. Never had trouble applying before! Don t bother with these fools!
Tried to inquire about rental at 968 Green Murray Hill. Woman on phone said it was new to her and she didn't know anything about it and hadn't even been in it yet. I wanted to know what the listing meant by oil stove because I have a 3 yr old. All she did was say it was an oil stove. Still don't know what that means. I told her I was not sure what that was. She did not explain further or offer for me to speak to someone else. Acted like she didn't care whether the property gets rented. Don't think I want to rent fro m someone who is so evasive.
The New House Company has completely redesigned themselves in the past couple years. The office is remodeled and inviting, the new leasing agents are attentive and diligent. I have not had a bad experience with them yet, as I will continue to give them my service. They have only improved.
