One of the nicest guitar shops I've ever set foot in. It came highly recommended to me and they didn't disappoint. Staff was very friendly and fun to talk to. There was a high school student there and they treated him wonderfully, letting him play a very expensive guitar into a very expensive amp with zero hassle. I got to play guitars from Collings and Koll. Tremendous. If I lived close, this would be my go to shop for sure.

I was looking for a Collings TKL Dreadnought Case and had sent emails and cold-calls to numerous music stores. TME responded quickly as they had one and was very helpful. Good price, nice people, shipped quickly and item was as-described. Would definitely recommend and bring my business here again!

I've bought guitars from the finest makers on the planet; I consider myself fortunate. I'm also blessed with a beautiful guitars from the fomer Mandolin Bros., Lark Street, Norms, Chicago, Wexer, Matt U, to name a few. They let let me play the ones I ask; be careful be polite, and they are too. And it's hit or miss, but it happens when sometimes I walk out with a beautiful guitar I've bought!!!

Consistsntly for years, The Music Emporium salesmen are snobs, pushy, and usually arrogant. They act clueless about the the $$$$$ they are asking me to put up. Ive worked very hard to be able to afford their price. To them your just some "dick" and if you if the $17K ( Thousand!) guitar is better than a $30K guitar, in your opinion, the music emporium salesmen look at you as if you must be "stupid." Interestingly I've never bought anything from them.. Even when I try, the snobs, I won't purchase from no matter what. Their salesmen have stool in them that somehow they must know more than you every time.

Try the other stores I've mentioned.

Just had a great experience buying a guitar at the Music Emporium. Very relaxed place with so such a great inventory of guitars. Friendly and knowledgeable staff that helped me when I wanted it but otherwise let me spend all the time I needed, for me about 2 hours, checking out many brands and styles. Finally decided on a Taylor 312 Grand Auditorium. The price was about $100. less than I saw anywhere else, including on the internet.I would definitely recommend this place

INCREDIBLE inventory and fair prices. I've bought an Eastman dreadnought from them and many accessories too. If you're serious about acoustic stringed instruments you need to visit these folks.

I just bought a Martin HD-28 there and had a great experience. Staff was patient and accommodating despite my need to try half of the guitars in their store. I highly recommend this store to anyone looking to purchase an American made solid wood instrument. The prices were surprisingly low as well.

The only thing that tops the world class selection of instruments at TME would be the amazing staff here. Super bright, wildly talented and always welcoming; the staff truly cares about your musical pursuits, whether it's your primary means of income or a special hobby to escape the daily grind. "Oh TME...there is no place I'd rather be..."

This is a guitar boutique! There is only beauty in this high end place. They make you feel very comfortable with their couches and stools on different sides of the store and just an amazing staff!

Cool music store filled with acoustic and electric guitars, some effects, amps, and other instruments such as mandolin. Friendly, knowledgable folks run the place. Great selection. Highly recommended.

I've been wanting to play guitar again (it's been 40+ years) so I did some research on stores and decided this might be a good one. I wasn't disappointed! I walked in and the store is a guitarist's heaven. I was assisted by "Tim" who was patient and answered every question I could throw at him.

After speaking with "Tim" for about 45 minutes I felt comfortable with his suggestion and bought my guitar and some accessories (high tech isn't just in computers anymore). Got it home and it sounds and fits me great.
Put this place on your list before you decide to buy. I can't see how you can miss here.

Take this review with a grain of salt - the place is probably great for buying a super expensive guitar. However if you're just an average joe looking to get some repairs you can save yourself the trip. I brought in a couple guitars - one with a lifted bridge and the other missing one of those plastic inserts from the bridge and needing new pins. Its got a crack in the soundboard but still sounds nice and I wasn't looking to fix the crack - just get the little plastic piece installed and string her up with new pins. Music Emporium wasn't interested in doing that let alone the bridge repair. Didn't even talk $$. If you're strapped for time and looking to have your guitar worked on look elsewhere.

I knocked on the door during the pandemic without an appointment, and a guy I had never met came to the door, asked what I was looking for, I said "a guitar" and he asked me who I wanted a guitar for. I said "for me". He gave me a surprised look and said, "a starter then?". Sexist dude needs to leave with the sexist Trump administration. He's lucky I can't remember his name. Chicks, only be a trophy chick or daughter of a "real" guitarist.

I purchased a walnut Ome North Star open back banjo with 11" rim and I LOVE it! I love the sound, the play-ability, the tone, and the size. I purchased it over the phone from The Music Emporium (Lexington, MA). They were very helpful, the banjo was extremely well packed, and they didn't charge my card until I had a chance to play it at home and then decide to keep it or return it. Tim at The Music Emporium really helped to make the experience very positive. Thank you!

This place is pretty amazing. Expect it to be full of people but the guitars in stock are high end and unique, not your typical music store. Staff is helpful and friendly and not at all stuffy.

I have been going to The Music Emporium for almost 10 years. I have purchased (and traded) multiple instruments, attended workshops taught by Laurence Juber, Mark Hanson, Pete Huttlinger, and Pierre Bensusan. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and patient with any and all customers. If you are interested in an acoustic guitar, mandolin, ukulele, or banjo, I cannot think of a better place to visit. It is a treasure of New England.

Incredible selection of beautiful instruments and a respectful informative staff! The Music Emporium has been the best guitar buying experience I have had thus far. The staff took the time to help me find the guitar that suited me and were not overbearing/did not use pressure sales tactics or frown at my mediocre playing!

What a delightful guitar-shopping experience! Many thanks to the staff for helping me find the perfect instrument -- quickly and painlessly. In fact, it was a pleasure from start to finish. I didn't feel pressured or intimidated. The gentlemen who assisted me were informative and seemed sincerely interested in helping me find the right guitar for me. What a treat. And now I have a great guitar to show for it. Thanks again, you guys. I really recommend this place!

Not only is it the best acoustic guitar store in New England, it is right up there as one of the best in the country. The focus here is on high end and vintage acoustic guitars, as well as a great selection of mandolins and banjos. They have some electrics, but they are really either trades or Collings. Nice little collection of jazz guitars too.

The staff is great and knowledgeable. They are willing to let you sit and play at leisure, and will pull down that vintage Martin for you if you just want to try it. I have purchased several guitars here, and have been with several friends making purchases. Prices are very fare. Every now and then there is a good discount on a used item. If you love acoustic music and play any of these instruments, go the the Emporium. You will not be disappointed.

I m so happy local guitar stores like this exist. I got to play a bunch of really well made boutique guitar brands that I see all over my IG feed. Handmade works of art. The guitar collection is very high brow, and this could easily be a snooty situation, but they also have a laid-back, pick-it-up-and-play, easy going atmosphere, which i greatly appreciate. Staff was cool and answered questions and told me about each instrument. Keep up the good work!

I first discovered the Music Emporium in the late 90's when I had to get a Vintage 60's Guild Acoustic Guitar fixed. From the outside it looks like a small store, but when you walk inside the store it is like Guitar Heaven or Purgatory depending on your skills. The smell of wood and the feel of humidity is just a wonderful feeling. This is the REAL DEAL. Since then I have purchased multiple Taylor Guitars, an Electric Guitar and a Ukulele. I have worked with Adam for the last 10+ years or so and he has been great. The whole staff is great, extremely knowledgeable and wonderful to work with. I will certainly be back and this is my GO-TO music store.

I bought a Deering Artisan Americana from these guys and they shipped it in the most secure package I've ever received. Adam answered all my questions and even marked my bridge and helped me out with a few other things. I couldn't be happier. I live in Oregon but I'd buy from these guys again just because I know they have good customer service and very secure shipping!

I've been going to the Music Emporium for many years for my acoustic guitars. Adam, Andy, Joe and the rest of the staff have always been super friendly, knowledgeable and very honorable folks who stand behind their products and support their customers. What a great shop! I've bought Collings, Tippin and Martin guitars from them, plus Calton cases, Henriksen amps and gotten pickups installed, etc. Recently, I've decided to attempt to resurrect my long-lost electric playing and had the opportunity to work with Eliot for the first time. Eliot was great and I purchased a fabulous Fender Custom Shop Telecaster that I'm enjoying more and more each day. Eliot also was a real brain truss when it came to pedals and their various attributes, pedal chain order etc. He helped me plan my pedalboard setup and hooked me up with some great boutique pedals. What an asset to have for me, as I haven't played electric guitar actively in a couple decades. This is why I drive 3 1/2 hours to buy my guitars at The Music Emporium!

I am from Nashville, have never been to the shop before, and was looking to purchase an early 50's Gibson acoustic. From day one of talking with Andy Cambria over the phone he was more than helpful giving me a full description of a guitar that was almost 70 years old. Not once did Andy hesitate or fail to answer any of my questions about the guitar, even the stupid ones There were no surprises when the guitar came in, and I couldn t be more pleased with my purchase experience with The Music Emporium.

Awesome place that needs to exist. All the best, most amazing stuff, but it's not cheap. It's a luxury music store, if that makes sense. I love the place. If I won or inherited a bunch of money, it would certainly be my first stop.

They were so nice and caring. When I bought my kamaka long neck soprano ukulele they would play it for me before I did so I would get the jist of the tone from an audiences perspective .Then when I played it I would give them a audiences perspective. Easily the best ukulele and guitar store in the world!

This store had a great vibe. I stopped there on the chance they could restring a viola bow and they had a guy who picks them up and returns then-perfect. Anyway, the shop is just lovely and the people were nice. And it was close.

There is not another store like this one in the North East. They have an world class selection of boutique, high-end instruments (acoustic and electric guitars, mandolins, banjos, and ukuleles), along with vintage offerings. The staff is incredibly specialized and knowledgeable in the nuances of thier inventory.

Quite possibly the best acoustic guitar boutique in New England. They have a fantastic inventory by reputable builders like Collings, Lowden, Santa Cruz, and Bourgeois. The staff is also highly knowledgeable and accommodating. The showroom is also gorgeous, with lots of stained hardwood, stylish furniture and natural light. Visiting the shop is an experience unto itself separate from the instruments.

If you want a true guitar connoisseur's experience, you owe it to yourself to go here!
