Went to see musical The Wiz. Great show after the storm
Kinky Boots was awesome. Not a bad seat in the place.
This year I saw 42nd Street and Fiddler on the Roof, which i really enjoyed. The acting, singing and dancing talent ate first rate, and comparable to just-off Broadway performances I've seen in NYC when I lived there. The Muny is a St. Louis treasure, a true landmark in Forest Park, already known for its renovated golf course, world-class zoo, etc.
I have been to the Muny several times over years, and it has yet to disappoint me. The shows are spectacular, the sightlines are wonderful, and, of course, the snacks are amazing. I recommend the frozen, chocolate covered New York cheesecake on a stick. It is delicious! Now, a word to the wise, getting back to the hotel can be a challenge. You can take the metro and walk the rest of the way, but I don't recommend it. I have done so several times, but in the dark, around midnight, and across dark roads, the metro and the walk back can be unnerving. I simply recommend walking with the crowd to the nearest parking lot and calling a cab or Uber. Other than the return trip, the Muny is a wonderful experience that I highly recommend!
The Muny is just amazing with great shows I ABSOLUTELY recomend! Food has decent prices too. I do not know ticket prices
Last night of this season. Wet but still wonderful. Next year we get trees.
The temperature was hot but the production was great (Singing in the Rain).
I grew up going every summer with my mom and I'm so thankful to be able to take my daughter now!
Luckily, it was cool that night. Great musical. Parking is awful. Forest park ought to have a few decent parking garages with all that the park has to offer.
A beautiful outdoor venue for top quality entertainment.
Great local theater. Amazing stage. Outstanding productions. Needs better air conditioning.
Have gone for years, enjoy outside, one of a kind experience.
Good shows but they don't start till dark so my little girl (6) is tired about 3/4 of the way through. Never have seen a whole show. Looking forward to Matilda!
I came here as a kid and have a decent memories seeing shows with my grandmother. Flash forward 17 years later and I can confidentially say our daughter will NEVER attend this money scam. Even if your baby is only a few days old they need a ticket. Our daughter is 3 months old and after receiving tickets as a gift we left with a bitter taste in our mouths and all of us decided to never return. Our daughter may not get the memories here with her grandmother but she will elsewhere. So long muny. We will not miss the expensive prices or ridiculous policies.
We spoke with the manager and other staff members. This is "policy."
Great shows, terrific setting! I especially loved seeing "Meet Me in St. Louis" here. While there is not a ton of leg room in the free seats, you still get a good view of the show, and even entertainment beforehand, and the paying seats get more legroom, cupholders, and some great food and drink options.
Best open air theatre in America! 100 seasons & still going strong!
A fantastic and underrated gem of St. Louis. The shows are top-notch and it is in a great location. You can see the stage from any of the seats and the ticket prices range from very expensive to free. They have 4 very large fans that will keep the air moving throughout the amphitheater in an effort to beat the brutal St. Louis summer heat. Always a great time.
I love coming to the Muny in the summer for a show. My only complaint is that the concessions are beyond outrageously priced. We compensate for that by bringing our own picnic and make it an evening. Be prepared to wait to exit but even that isn't bad as people are the most kind and polite in general. Come try it out if you've never been!
One of the most outstsnding musical experiences in the United States. Find a show you like and give it a try. You will not be sorry. Usually a different show each week during the summer season. The 2019 season is about to start. Single tickects on sale now. I have had season tickets for years and would would not miss a show except in the worst conflicts.
Saw Footloose here and it was incredible! The fans helped us stay very cool and the audio was clear even back in C stand.
Take your family and visit the one and only Muny! This type of place only exists in St. Louis. Free seats - do I need to say more?
Awe man really enjoyed the play THE WIZ it was AWESOME
The Muny is the best. Love the productions and the talent on the huge outdoor stage. The newer fans really help cool things down on a hot Saint Louis evening and are so quiet you don't hear them running at all.
Been a season ticket holder for 10 years. Great way to bond with my mom every Thursday night.
The musical Footloose was great. The only problem I see you can't see over the people's heads in front of you I think the seating should have been raised each row raised higher
Great place with a great staff and wonderful performances.
We were rained out of the show we attended. The cast sang us a song on the way out which was sweet. All of the shows I have seen there are great; talented actors and actresses. The food and drinks are over priced. They should rent binoculars. Being in section C is a struggle to see much to say the least.
Surprising stage effects, good sound, good seating. Free ice water and fans when it's hot outside. Amazing actors/actresses. Overall a good experience.
Needs better parking for ppl that can't walk far. The stage and show was amazing
I loveed the performance of Singin in the Rain. That being said, I was disappointed in my Muny experience. Several people around me had brought in entire meals. Not just snacks, entire MEALS that required a knife and fork to eat. Why didn't they eat before they came? We weren't aware we could bring in water bottles or we would have. We paid $6 for a bottle of water. This was the same brand of water that can be bought at the store for $2.50 a case. I was also disappointed with the"new" cooling system. I realize it was incredibly hot in St. Louis at that time, but I was expecting more than just fans.
This was not the Muny experience I expected.
The Muny is a St. Louis gem! Get there early for the free seats (the back section) or wait until a later showing to make sure you'll have a seat. There are concessions with all types of drinks and snacks. Bring binoculars in the free seats to see better. There are a few fans but expect to be a little warmer with the amount of people there. No pictures allowed and don't get up during a musical bit!
Went to first show and Jersey Boys. Both we're fantastic nights!
Amazing performance! Great date night or fun time with friends!!
My family visited The Muny on a short family vacation. We attended the night show "Chicago". We were amazed at the acceptance of the innuendos and language that were said. The degrading of family values, morals, and marriage. We would have appreciated the for-warning of the rating of the show. Though we did not care for the production we enjoyed the setting and the friendliness of the hosts. We will probably come back and try another production.
They recently updated their theater for the new 101st season of The Muny. Went and saw Guys and Dolls. Not really my thing I guess but almost every show I've gone and seen has been phenomenal. Shows like, Tarzan, Les Miserables, Meet Me in St. Louis (my personal top favorite so far). A great place to spend the evening if you like watching plays, with a bit of music. A lot like Disney without the travel and high costs. Would recommend to everyone to see at least once in their lifetime.
I get the Muny isn't free. $6 for a pint of water is pretty steep.
It was fun and exciting. We were there for pictures for my sisters wedding coming up. Family and fun...the lighting was awesome especially at night...and the scenery, water, and the peaceful sounds are beautiful. Really never notice it as long as I have stayed here.
Saw Annie. Great show. Set in $30 seats. View was good but not excellent. Sound was plenty loud especially during singing. Food and drinks are overpriced as expected.
Best damn outdoor theater in the country!
Free seats are always a good option, but splurge a little and buy a ticket. They're not too expensive, you get a Playbill, and the satisfaction of knowing you're supporting a great St. Louis institution!
We had VIP parking which was great... Except that I drove around for half an hour trying to find it. Staff was helpful. Had to ask for directions/help several times trying to figure out where to go. Drink options are good but you have to get in a separate line and by the time we got through the line we missed the beginning of the second half of the show. The show was very good and the actors were fantastic! I'll seek out future shows to see these preformers again!
The Muny is my favorite entertainment. I love the singing and dancing on the outdoor theater stage. My family has always had season tickets and we all go a nimber of times each season. Try it. You will love it.
The muny is closed because of covid19. There a pond with benches that we like to sit and relax.
the muny is one of my favorite places and has been a family "tradition" for almost 20 years.
Impressive sound. Outstanding acting. Wonderful atmosphere. The only thing keeping this from five stars is the seating - You will have a hard time seeing over the person on front of you. Loved the overall experience nonetheless!
The Muny is the oldest and largest outdoor theater in the US. It has more than 11,000 seats including 1500 free seats in the back. If you want free seats you need to arrive very early to wait in line. I'd suggest bringing binoculars. From mid June to mid August, the Muny provides locally produced Broadway caliber musicals accompanied by a live symphony. Performances begin at 8:15pm. Concessions are available including foods like popcorn, ice cream, and beverages including alcohol. The best seats in the theater are the box seats down front, of course. Performances include local humor and talent. The Muny is a nonprofit and a cultural icon in St. Louis.
I have enjoyed the Muny since I was 6. And I'm.....well, not 6 anymore. It's fascinating to see the actors/singers/dancers/musicians/conductor and stage hands share selflessly their wealth of talents with 11,000 of their closest friends on a daily basis. And all so that we may be transported for a few hours into a world we would not otherwise have access to.
Do everything within your power to go see Jerome Robbin's Broadway. It is beyond description.
Went for the first time to see 1776. Broadway quality performance in a beautiful outdoor setting. Bring binoculars with if you are in the B sections or above to see the stage. Sound is incredible. Going back for one more show this season.
Great place to see a musical. Haven't been a quite a while. Need to get back there.
What a way to end the 100th season at the Muny. Meet Me in St. Louis was amazing! I sat in the free seats. I saw everything clearly, and enjoyed everything about the Muny.
My Husband and I will be getting season tickets next season.
The best, most wonderful outdoor theatre. Amazing talent and productions. We are the luckiest people in the world to be able enjoy such awesome talent.
I am visiting from out of town and as we were touring the Forest Park we passed by the Muni and decided to ask about tickets for their upcoming play (Paint your Wagon). The rice was not too expensive and decided to come and see it. What a lovely place! The stage, the orchestra the setting of the theater in the middle of the park, wow! One of my other favorite parts of the night besides the performance was listening to nature (frogs, crickets amongst a few others) along with the performance. What a magnificent experience. Bravo
Absolute joy!!! Saw The Wiz, an AMAZING performance!!!
Mark Ballas was great as Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys. Had a great time in spite of the heat.
14 year old Grandson said tonight was the best so far. I agree.
Amazing show 100 years and still here! Went on the opening night to the Muny and enjoyed myself with my mother! Keep up the good work and will continue to support our local actors/actress
A great outdoor experience! The fans give a nice breeze and are truly silent.
Great outdoor entertainment facility. Not a bad seat in the house.
I'm a professional pit orchestra musician. Saw a musical. Sat in the $15 seats, not the free ones but the rows right in front of that. Sound was to quiet, couldn't understand all the words. Seats were pretty small and really no leg room so I was very uncomfortable and squished the whole time. People around me were very loud, having conversations, singing along, making comments. Lots of people got up and left early to beat the traffic. The play, the dancing, the acting, the sets- all very good! The building and fountains are very nice, I like the art deco style. It is really wonderful that you can get free and reasonably priced tickets to see performances like this. I'd like to see additional speakers placed along the sides or hung over the middle of the audience. I also felt that the balance of instruments coming from the pit orchestra was off. From where I was I could only hear the brass and percussion, no strings and harldy any woodwind.
Beautiful facility and excellent production. This place runs like a well oiled machine. The staff is very friendly and helpful; all night I saw them assisting elderly and disabled . The theater portion is set on a rather steep incline but if you are disabled or simply can't get around well you have no need to worry. There are special porters who run wheelchairs around to assist those in need, pushing them to their seats, the restrooms, etc. Don't let anything keep you from coming to the Muny to see one of their fantastic productions! On my visit my group and I ate at their buffet before the show; the food and the service were remarkable. I have a food allergy and the chef and his staff came to speak to me personally, they even made me a special dish and brought it to me. I was really impressed with their eagerness to accommodate my dietary needs as well as their friendliness. Finally, I can't say enough good things about the production of Kinky Boots; the actors are so talented and I was truly blown away by their professionalism. If you haven't been to the Muny, make it a point to go soon!
I love all the shows here. The best part is you can get free seats. Lots of memories here and I can't wait to make more.
Amazing performance, 100 seasons and still going strong
Fantastic local production of "Jersey Boys". We could have sung and danced in the aisles! Bob Gaudio appeared for curtain call...a great surprise to us all!
Absolutely fantastic. It's a must visit for all to see for themselves. You wont be disappointed I guarentee.
Amazing as always. In the process of major renovation. Upgraded stage is great, really enhances the play.
Some of the best production quality I've ever seen.
