Great anniversary dinner. Very accommodating and friendly staff. Some of the best seafood we've had in a long time. Drinks were great. Very happy we picked this place. It books up quick so don't hesitate to make reservations ASAP.
Service was excellent, from the time we walked in the door and as we were leaving the staff was very pleasant and welcoming. My sister had a lobster roll served with french fries. Very generous with the lobster and not overwhelmed with mayonnaise. Fries were crisp and very tasty. I had a gatden salad with lobster salad over it. The salad was fresh and very good. The lobster salad was excellent and the lobster was not overcooked as it has been when I have had it at other restaurants in the past.
DELICIOUS!!!!! I recommend fish and chips, calamaris and lobster!! The view is AMAZING, especially when it is sunset! I loved the staff! They are super nice and professional! I loved the design and the serving! Cool for families!! Also, the name is cool! Tables get disinfected after every guest!!
Spicy linguine was probably the best. Everything seems a bit overpriced, but the ambiance makes up for it. Service was adequate, not necessarily to my expectations. Location is great and enough paid parking around. Don't come here for high class dining. Should be 3 stars, but the drink from the bar made it a 4.
Absolutely lovely to be here! The host greeted us and had us seated with a sunset view as requested it was our anniversary. Just the donuts were a bit underwhelming with lot of fried bread with minimal to no lobster & shrimp.
Other than that crab cake & the cod - special of the day were both great. Our drinks were good too. Great recommendations by Ryan who served us and also helped us order. Must visit!
Love this place! Inside the restaurant is cozy and it has a view of the water. The food is great! Everything tasted amazing. My boyfriend and I ordered raw Oysters, Native Scallop Chowder, Fish & Chips, and Pork Ramen. I never tried Scallop Chowder before and it is officially the best chowder I ever had. They put the whole scallops in there, so delicious. If you do not like the seafood they have some other options for you, I ordered Pork Ramen and it was great. The portion was a decent size. From the bar, I ordered Aperol Spritz and it was great too. There is parking outside, you always can find a place to park your car. Customer service is great, we have been seated really fast. Our waiter was friendly and always checked on us. Definitely recommend this place.

Seafood linguine insanely good- buttery and sauce was perfect- not too tangy or overpowering, fresh, with basil and ricotta as perfect complements to the perfectly cooked shrimp and scallops.

Fish and chips best I ever had - coating was amazing crunchy and then fluffy/flaky, perfectly seasoned.
Clam chowder super delicious.
Crab cake so good- good amount of crab very flaky and tasty especially with the zesty sauce.

We just stopped for a small snack in the mid afternoon because we had late dinner reservations. My husband had a bowl of clam chowder and I had a bowl of scallop chowder, both were incredible!! The staff was very kind, polite and helpful and the restaurant was spotless. I would certainly recommend the Mooring, although we only had soup this time, we generally make it our point to stop by on a longer trip for dinner, we only stayed overnight this trip.
We have been huge The Mooring fans for years. Although the menu and staff have gone through natural changes over the years, right now--March 2021--they are clearly back on the upswing. The chowder is among the best, and do not skip a Bag of Donuts (clam-cakes-plus) or two for the table. The seafood was fresh and plentiful. Pricey, but you are getting what you pay for. The interior and rear deck are gorgeous. The staff was knowledgeable and attentive. A sure-fire hit in the center of beautiful Newport RI.
