Had endoscopy performed and spent a bit of time in the PCU before and after procedure. Staff were all outstanding. Nurses I interacted with were busy but upbeat and friendly. Environment was calming despite my anxiety.

BODY BAG , Go to intensive care one week, sent home, then same problem arose aweek later, went back, they found the problem, operated, operation was successful, got 8 different diagnoses, did not give her her meds she needed, I stepped in they started with meds, a week later they pulled the plug. They took everything off, then shut oxyyen off and finally killed my wife, with me watching. Doctor said he is GOD. AND ITS PROTOCOL TO KILL MY WIFE, STOPPING ALL MEDS, TAKING OXYGEN AWAY, AND GIVING HER 60 MG MORPHINE THEN ADAVAN THEN MORE MORPHINE.

IF YOU GO TO MIRIAM WITH A SERIOUS PROBLEM, U PROBABLY WILL END UP IN A BODY BAG.
SPECIALLY WITH INTENSIVE CARE. THERE IS ONLY ONE DOCTOR THERE THAT IS ANY GOOD BUT HIS BOSS WAS IN CHARGE. AND WHATEVER HE SAYS IS LAW. I TRIED TO TRANSFER HER TO ANOTHER HOSPITAL BUT HE WOULD NOT LET ME, AFTER WE HAD SOME WORDS.
WHAT A NICE DOCTOR.
I HAVE A VET THAT HAS MORE COMPASSION THAN MOST OF THE PEOPLE THERE.

Absolutely disgusted. Brought my friend here in extreme pain. They made us wait in some room with a recliner for about an hour before moving him to a bed out in the hall for over an hour and a half. We were told they were cleaning the room and he would be in it soon. They hadn t touched the room as we watched cleaning ladies take care of the rooms around the one we were supposed to go to. This hospital is absolutely terrible. A woman who was crying for help for over 45 minutes just needed her bag replaced and a blanket-she said several times that she was FREEZING. My friend and I watched from the hallway as 6-8 doctors and nurses leisurely walked by. Everyone talking about time to go home as they are ignoring people potentially dying (this IS an ER). As I am typing this it is now hour 3 and we have yet to see a doctor. Nurses have even tried ignoring me. I WILL NOT have it. Not while I am able. I just feel bad for all the old and disabled people being ignored and neglected here. DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE IGNORED. People who need immediate medical attention should really find another hospital.

This hospital doesn't listen to patient complaints.
My husband went in today complaining of heart pain, head pain bloating in stomach, shortness of breath. They did check the heart and said he did not have a heart attack. However all the other complains where not addressed. Then they sent him home and told hem could take ibuprofen for pain which he can't have do to his pre existing conditions.

Was Here for 2 days and 1 night for total knee replacement...,The check in process was polite, easy and stress free...Then the Miriam overnight staff was excellent..led by RN Rachael, these employees were very polite, very helpful, very positive and very intelligent in caring for me post op...... Orthopedic surgeon Dr llado and his team From Ortho RI made me feel at ease by keeping me informed and helping me relax when they sensed I was getting nervous as anesthesia time was approaching ... The 5 star rating was well earned...

Many Thanks to all involved

I called because I received back to back calls at 6am and called the operator to find out if any one I knew was there she had an attitude and kept repeating that I couldn't find out who called even though there's a patient registry department and I just wanted to make sure that someone in my family wasn't hurt. I wouldn't send a mangy mut here

ER is extremely slow and they use different stages to deter people from getting angry or realizing theybhave been here forever. The food is amazing tho. And the staff besides the ER were fantastic. The ER doctor is over worked and only manages patients at the beginning. He is quite young which usually doesn't mean much but in his case he could have used more years experience before being put in charge

Took my grandmother to the ER for inflammation of her knee. Got in and doctors decided to take an xray and then perform a knee effusions. Waited for 3 hours for the lab result to return. In the mean time we asked for a nurse to help my grandmother use a bed pan. None ever came. The lab result came in negative for infection. They then gave my grandmother a dose of tylenol even though i asked for ibuprophen which has an antiinflammatory effect and not tylenol. They then decided to take a blood and sent us on our way. No advise no recommendation for care and no prescription.

To whom it may concern

Frustration among healthcare staff: The lack of ability to share information in real time can lead to delays in communication that cause friction among medical staff. These incidences can create workplace conflicts and impact the quality of patient care as well as the success of a medical practice.

The nurses in the ER are true angels. Its obvious they love their jobs and care immensely about the patients. The administrative staff on the other hand could use a pep talk. The billing department is just like most others in healthcare. Insurance issues and a ton of red tape.

My first time receiving medical treatment at this ...

My first time receiving medical treatment at this facility was 8/8/19 for back surgery. This would be my 5th surgery over my 64 years and have never been so frustrated and disappointed with the personal treatment. I was on my pre-op stretcher for over 3 hrs waiting to be operated on because my doctor had a complicated case before me which I completely understand. It was the lack of communication and concern from the staff for the entire 3+ hours. Not one person asked me how I was doing or was courteous enough to volunteer an update as what was taking so long. It wasn't until my wife asked what the hold up was did someone come over to inform me the doctor was running longer due to complexity of the 1st surgery. Then the post-op nurse was arrogant and disrespectful and reprimanded me for picking up the drain monitor and asking what was connected to my spine. It wasn't until I reached my room that I was treated with respect and courtesy by two caring people Tom and Lohmisa (sp) until my discharge. I will never seek medical attention at Miriam again.

My 88 year old Dad was at emergency room last night due to a fall. The waiting room was packed but you would have never know that based on how quickly they cared for my dad. Every staff member that helped my dad was OUTSTANDING. They treated him kindly and respectfully. A special shutout to Dr. Goldberg. She was amazing!!! She took every precaution but luckily he had just a broken rib. I feel so blessed to have such an amazing hospital close by. Thank you all for your gentle and loving care.

The worst service I have ever received. My husband took me with a back and lower belly pain and they left me in a chair for 3 hours at no time they treated me ... And after a while when my husband asked if they would treat me they only claimed that my vital signs were fine that I had nothing record, they made fun of me while talking and looking at me. I had to leave with the same pain .. They are people without humanism, they should close it, since they do not give importance to the lives of others, terrible attention .. The worst humiliation that I experienced should not be called an emergency, but a ward slow death

If I could give no stars I absolutely would. Why i...

If I could give no stars I absolutely would. Why if someone tells medical staff about taking the wrong medication and also taking too much of the medication thinking it was something else not be seen right away knowing that the medication taken causes seizures in high doses. Took over 3 hours to be put in a room and have my girlfriend put on a heart rate monitor. Meanwhile the whole time waiting, she was constantly having chest pains and hallucinating as well. While in the waiting room me and my girlfriend along with another patient witnessed a nurse wheel out a patient that had clearly just suffered from a stroke/heart attack. Drooling at the mouth still shaking, long story short, the nurse dropped the patient off in the waiting room and instructed him to walk himself out the door once his cab had arrived, who couldn't even stand up nevermind walk by himself. I am just completely disgusted with the service here and having witnessed that incident with the nurse and patient I will definitely make sure that more than just a simple review be made about this ordeal. Its very saddening to see that this is what our trusted help has come to. All I pictured was me being in that mans shoes that had suffered from a seizure or stroke and then falling on the property and being a liability.. Very poor management and I wish I had said something to the woman that had brought the patient to the main lobby to begin with.. Very disgusted never coming to Miriam hospital ever again.

Never since I live in the United States have I presented racism for being Latino, but this hospital is useless, they should be embarrassed, the people who work in front of them would throw them away, it feels ugly that they laugh in your face and not want to treat you, and one asking if they are going to attend us and what they dare to say, that my wife is fine, because the vital signs came out well, and my wife with a lot of pain in the lower navel and the lower spine

Careful of the ER group at this hospital. You may get a big bill from the ER Doctors - Brown Emergency Medicine. They do not disclose but they are separate from the hospital. So if you check that the Miriam Hospital accepts your insurance you might get a big bill from the ER Doctor group as they do not accept the same insurances as the hospital. A 600 dollar bill for 5 minutes. Brown Emergency Medicine group does not mediate in good faith when you try and work out a reasonable settlement. Stay away from here.

This was the WORST experience I've ever had with any hospital. My wife was told by her doctor to go to Miriam ER for her kidney stones. After asking several times how much longer we were at least triaged, I was told "Were busy" and to sit back down. Unfortunately that wasn't an option as the waiting room is the size of a broom closet, and of course there wasn't anymore available chairs. I couldn't even bring my wife to the one working restroom in the wheelchair without rolling over peoples feet due to the lack of space. After waiting over two hours, we left and went to Roger Williams Medical Center. (Where we had a MUCH BETTER experience!)

My fiance had been brought by the ambulance, and since I did not drive a car, I had to go in the ambulance with my two little children, the ambulance gentlemen were very kind even to my children and everything. When we arrived at the hospital one of the ladies came out, at all times with an attitude, telling me that we could not stay in the hospital, and the same ambulance gentlemen asked if there's any room that she could wait till someone pick her up ( since it was terribly hot today) and she said no, we can't get them in, so she comes out and says I'll leave them in the hospital chapel until you get someone. I do not know how they can not have compassion or anything since I had no one to pick me up, he left us there as if we were garbage, nor she dont even help me with the carseats or anything. Treating us as were something from another world. HORRIBLE

All of the staff of 3 north were exceptional. I couldn t have asked for a nicer and more more educated and compassionate group of professionals. This goes from house keeping that greet.you every morning with a big smile and HELLO. And have a good evening at the end of her day. To the nutrition Department always making sure you get food that you like and will eat.
Then there are all the Nursing staff, CNA s have to get their Kudos also , encouraging you to do your best and even if I was having a down day an thinking not doing very well. They gave me the shot in the arm I needed to keep me going.
I also have to mention the staff on 3 North Pod 3, I was 3 NORTH POD 1. I was always given my daily walks around the WHOLE unit circle, I did them every day and I had checks to check off. POD 3 was always encouraging me also. That made me feel good also. The Surgical Residents helped in that exercise too.
THANK YOU AND BLESSINGS TO ALL

This hospital saved my life almost a year ago as o...

This hospital saved my life almost a year ago as of may 20th of 2018 it will me one year and I will never forget it. I made a very dumb decision while not in the right headspace and swallowed two Disposable razor blades in an attempt to kill myself by bleeding out internally but my friends where I was at found out what I did told an adult who called an ambulance but by then it was a little too late. The first razor I had swallowed had cut my esophagus and stomach on the way down and I hadn t felt it because I was so upset and when I swallowed the second one I was already bleeding internally and it cut me on the way down as well and again I never felt it. When the paramedics came they rushed me to Miriam Hospital where a CNA was Immediately told to sit with me because I was a suicidal person and I had just tried to kill myself so I was considered a suicide risk. The paramedics told them what I had done and instead of wasting time with the usual questions they got on the phone with a specialist in who could help extract the razors safely and carefully. They asked me if I had any stomach pain and I told them yes I did but no nausea. The specialist came and they prepped me for an endoscopy to safely remove the razors I started panicking because I couldn t swallow the camera so they sedated me enough so they could wake me if they needed to. But then things turned for the worst after he got the razor out I started vomiting blood uncontrollably. So they made sure my airway was clear and went back in found the source of the bleeding and clipped it off with an esophageal clip, It was then I started having a hard time breathing so they gave me a med through my IV line to temporarily paralyze me so they could intubate me so I could breath and also so if I started bleeding again my airway was clear. I was woken up and started panicking and a nurse was at my side holding my hand and calming me down and talking me through it to let me know What had happened. I was transferred to ICU where I spent almost 1 week and then I was transferred down to a general surgical floor where I was for another 3-4 weeks. Afterwards I was transferred to Rhode Island Hospital Behavior Health Unit. And since that day I have not had another suicide attempt. Like I said Miriam Hospital saved my life in more ways than one. Thank you to all the nurses and doctors at Miriam Hospital in the ICU And ER and 3rd floor you guys changed my life. I am also happy to say I am now very close to my second month in college as a medical student going for my medical assistant and I couldn t have done it without Miriam and my support system.

To the ER operator who took my call a few minutes ago: you know who you are. It deeply saddens and further sickens me to see the way this hospital neglects its patients. Acute Epiglottitis is a LIFE THREATENING condition that killed George Washington /overnight/ yet here I am, being advised /not to come/ into to the ER because "it doesn't sound serious enough." I literally cannot BREATHE! Your system needs to be drastically revised or bulldozed altogether if your receptionists are so incompetent they advise patients to see a PCP with a 6-month waiting list over an EMERGENCY ROOM for a BLOCKED AIRWAY.

The care I received at Miriam was exceptional during my surgery. From the moment I walked in until I was wheeled out I was treated like the most important patient they had. I have to admit I welled-up a little when I left

I hesitate to name names for fear of missing anyone but in particular my nurse Daria saw me through two difficult evenings! Nurse Jenny was so thoughtful and. The CNAs were also outstanding. Also all of the providers in pre and post op (whose names I cannot remember you know. Because of the drugs) were kind and caring

I would not wish my disease. or treatment on my worst enemy but if anyone needs to have surgery Miriam is the place to go in my mind

Thank you for making me feel like an important patient

Dr. James F. Robertson at Lifespan and Miriam hospital in Rhode Island; Cardiovascular Institute made a medical determination of health without evidence. It appears that Doctor James F. Robertson did not take the time to review my electrocardiogram chart to have made his conclusion to have found nothing wrong with my heart. I had to request a exam called Echocardiogram with TMH CVI EPROV STREES ECHO. And that order was entered wrong in the database. I had to have the patient check out clerk verify the stats of the order with the Doctor and correct the error. At no point in time did the Cardiovascular Institute ask me to sign a medical release of records, from the prior medical facilities were I had my echocardiogram done. How was Dr. Robertson making an impulsive decision without knowledge of my history and facts to my health? I question his credibility and professional ethics.

Doctors here are always late. I Live near Miriam, literally ten minutes away. Whenever I come here I am always asked to wait because the doctors are doing their rounds on another hospital. They are always On the way. If the schedule for the doctor is 9am, expect that the doctor will come one hour to four hours after. That is less than the amount of time they actually diagnose patients and stay in the room. The last doctor I asked for would not go upstairs in his room because he wanted to wait for the airconditioner to be cleaned first before going. So he just hanged around on the ground floor while his patients have been waiting for him for two hours! If you are not in the ER, you won't get urgency in this place.
