Oh my if you're looking to spoil your wife or girlfriend this is the place to go fabulous food and staff are second to none five stars is not enough for this place
Had a work event here. Staff were great, canapes were lovely and the venue was nice. Would definitely use again :)
The Merrion Hotel holds a very special place in my heart I've been going there since I have been a child and have been a member of the swimming facilities at the hotel. The swimming pool is warm the shower and toilets are always clean and the gym is fantastic after a days work in the office.
I have also done work experience at the hotel so I have seen both sides of the hotel, but I will only talk as a guest in this review. The staff are very helpful and kind the surroundings are beautiful and it is a very friendly and warm environment to be in.
The dining room is a lovely place overlooking the courtyard.
I definitely recommend a stay at the Merrion Hotel.
Hands down.
Best hotel in Dublin. Best hotel staff in Dublin. Best hotel food in Dublin.
No more to say! Visit , you will not be disappointed.
Lovely stay here. The room was beautiful and the staff were excellent. Lots of little touches make this a top class hotel.
Amazing Place! The service and staff went above and beyond any expectations. They deserve more stars than what is allowed. 6 or 7 stars at least.
Fabulous hotel. Brilliant dinner. Fantastic staff. Idyllic surroundings
We had stayed a few times and always thought it was the best hotel in Dublin by a mile. We decided to hold our wedding reception here and it surpassed all expectations. Laura McGinn the wedding co-ordinator was fantastic and made it a hassle free experience. Thank you
Fantastic and exceptional service. Staff are extremely professional, helpful and friendly .
Beautiful afternoon tea in great surroundings. Old style charm about the silver service. 3-tier cake rack with sandwiches, cake, scones - which came with jam, clotted cream and lemon curd. However, the piece de resistance came after we had eaten all of the above - or tried to! The hotel boasts one of the largest private art collections in Europe. The chef picks three picture from the collection and interprets them in small to-die-for creations. Small cards with pictures of the paintings are brought to the table along with the cakes/pastries. Copious amounts of tea were served throughout the whole afternoon. No sense of hurrying, or rushing was a very big plus!
Full Mark's Merrion Hotel. We'll be back!
Beautiful hotel with outstanding service. Lounge with an open fire is a great spot for coffee. Great Irish hospitality. Perfect location to explore area surrounding St Stephen's Green and Grafton Street
Elegant and upscale. Loved it. Will stay here again. The staff was professional and went out of their way to accommodate us. Have a two star Michelen rated restaurant and a interesting bar there too.
Top class all in every respect.
Spa facilities looked particularly amazing .
Can't wait to go back...
Just beautiful. The restaurant amazing. The food for the eyes the tongue and memory.
Beautiful hotel and rooms. Friendly and helpful stall...look forward to staying again one day
The Merrion does a wonderful art-themed afternoon tea, which is probably the best afternoon tea in the city. The sandwiches are excellent and a good size - the salmon sandwich is especially tasty. The desserts are nice, perhaps a bit too gourmet for the average Joe's palate (this is especially the case with the second course of art desserts) but the battenburg is lovely. The cream and lemon curd that come with the scones on the top tray are possibly the stats of the show however. The cream is impossibly thick and the curd is perfectly tart. And of course it all comes with a great menu of teas, from Irish breakfast to Japanese Gyokuro, there's definitely something for everyone. I'd suggest saving coffees for afterwards as they might spoil your palate and I'd steer clear of the espresso as it is impressively strong.
If you don't want afternoon tea you can definitely walk in and enjoy tea and coffee as an excuse to stroll around and see the amazing collection of art - the biggest private collection in Europe!
Art afternoon tea was amazing from start to finish. Staff were very welcoming and happy to help at any times. Would recommend anyone who is thinking of booking this brillant experience 10/10.
Wow! If you are looking for a special treat, book yourself and your loved ones in for the Afternoon Tea! Delicious cakes and pastries, finger sandwiches and all you can drink tea from a superb collection. They even offer a vegan high tea for those who order in advance.
My wife and I stayed here a few years ago and the service was stellar. Would definitely recommend and will stay here again.
Just one of those Luxury Hotels that hire amazing staff. Had a night cap there and it was really great and decided to enjoy breakfast there with friends. We have to thank Emanuelle the Manager on that morning... helping us find a cozy seating for breakfast and for being just a great and helpful person. We had amazing servers that morning and a delicious breakfast. Super happy with my experience. Highly recommend the drinks and food here.
Those who love tea and art, this is a wonderful place to be! Relaxing esp after a jet lag . The tea presentation was different , it is interactive. The ambience was genuine. We enjoyed our afternoon tea so much and to our delight, we snagged some good art memoir to take back to Canada! But we didn t stop on tea, we ventured more to find a nice lounges and bar downstairs and we stayed. That s it. They got us! :)
Great experience from arrival to departure. First class all the way.
An absolutely sublime hotel. We stayed 4 nights in two separate visits and felt so comfortable and cared for.
TL;DR version: Staff are top notch... from reception, concierge, housekeeping, dining, etc. Very friendly, and always offering to help with any detail or question. Facilities are immaculate and well curated. Very comfortable bed, beautiful bathroom, excellent food.
We booked the town and country package which includes a visit to Ashford Castle. Working with reservations was a breeze, they looked after every little detail. Our flight landed at 9am, and when we arrived at the hotel they thankfully had our room ready, which was a pleasant treat. We did the Art tour + afternoon tea, which was very informative and a enlightening experience. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable about all the art in The Merrion, they have an extensive collection. During our time in Dublin, we were able to easily explore the city from the Hotel, it is so well situated. Just a block from several excellent museums, and so much to see right in that area.
Food: the food is excellent in the Merrion. We breakfasted there every morning, and they were very willing to make requested adjustments to our orders. We also enjoyed the Cellar as well - had fabulous cocktails there. Room service was also excellent and prompt.
Room: the room we had our first visit was spacious and lovely. The bed was quite comfy, and the bathroom quite elegant with so many features. The only drawback to the room was temperature control. It was warm for the time of year (upper 50's to lower 60's F); and the room was quite warm. We made adjustments on the temperature system, but nothing ever changed. We did not report it and just opened windows to attempt to cool the room down.
Staff: truly excellent staff. Reception consistently cordial and friendly. Restaurant staff attentive and not intrusive. Concierge and front staff very accommodating. We had a few billing errors that once brought to their attention they immediately corrected and handled very professionally.
Overall, it's a beautiful hotel and a wonderful place to stay in Dublin.
Stylish city centre top class hotel. Friendly staff. Highly recommended Cellar Bar with good value bar food. Good spot for a late night drink. Serves a beautifully presented afternoon tea and has art works around hotel.
Outstanding hotel.. services, restaurant, room, and swimming pool
Most elegant hotel in Dublin, steeped in history yet with every modern amenity. Extraordinary art collection. Anyone lucky enough to own or rent one of the Merrion apartments has their own little slice of paradise.
Very pleasant gym, first rate indoor pool. Expensive restaurant - it's a shame they're pricing out all but the highest end customers - less interesting atmosphere these days.
Garden still pretty but no longer breathtakingly beautiful, since they shrank it to expand restaurant and residences.
Friendly and efficient staff. Couldn't ask for a better place to stay or live, for anyone in Central Dublin.
Had a fantastic Art Tea Afternoon Tea - Would highly recommend for a special occasion. All of the ingredients were fresh and extremely tasty and the service was exceptional. The setting for the tea itself is one of the nest in Dublin and the staff were attentive and friendly. A great experience all round.
The nicest hotel I've ever been in. Great service, comfortable beds and pillows. It's pricey but worth it.
Stunning hotel, rooms are beautiful. Also one of the nicest pints of Guinness is Dublin, also in a beautiful setting.
Had the Picnic Afternoon tea in the Garden Room today. Fantastic service and staff, especially delivering on special requests made..... thank you for a memorable afternoon experience
One of our favourite hotels! You feel like you're walking into your friend's house, very warm. The food, especially breakfast is perfect, especially when traveling with kids.
Merrion hotel is delightful. Situation in the heart of Dublin within walking distance of everything. Tasteful decor, magnificent selection of paintings adorn the walls, excellent food, friendly helpfull staff in a tranquil and relaxed atmosphere.beautiful garden, Its at the top end of hotel experience...worth a visit..not budget accommodation!...
Beautiful quaint hotel. Extremely good service.. Very attentive and accommodating staff
Fantastic hotel and the staff are amazing. Very friendly and helpful in every situation.
Beautiful rooms and gardens. Great food and dining experience.
Highly recommended!
Very nice hotel in a great location, with a fantastic art collection. We stayed in newer section and the finishes were a bit dated. Also had to walk quite a distance to get to our room - they could benefit from additional elevator or stairs.
Lovely place to have afternoon tea. Food is delicious and the surrounds are so elegant. Staff are friendly and attentive. Would absolutely recommend.
Very good location neice hotel with garden spacious rooms very clean and comfortable very friendly staff
Had afternoon tea with Christmas Carroll s here with my mam and sister before Christmas and we had the best afternoon. It was so relaxing in front of the fire listening to the music and the food was amazing. Best afternoon tea around.
Great place to stay in Dublin. Staff very warm and welcoming which is appreciated.
Great place to stay, very friendly staff, food is amazing,
Entire experience is superb. Room service and beds amazing. Service top notch. Love this hotel.
was here for afternoon tea. The Art Tea inspired by the arts in the hotel. amazing experience, great serving staffs
This hotel is fantastic and not as ostentatious as say the Shelbourne which is dripping with opulence from the outside. Instead the Merrion leaves everything for the inside behind its lovely Georgian house exterior.
The staff are absolutely lovely and the service is first rate. We use the hotel for work and have found dealing with them to always be a pleasure and nothing is too hard to try and accommodate.
The rooms are great, clean and everything you'd expect from a five star hotel.
You have lovely tea rooms out the front and then a great casual dining spot down in the cellars below. There is also the famous two hatted Michelin restaurant, the only one in Dublin I believe.
If you want a fantastic hotel with a great location, then the Merrion is for you.
Visited the Spa today, very nice indeed, my treatment was so nice. I got a luxury pedicure. They didn't have flip flops for me after my pedicure, so I had to walk down to the relaxation room in my bare feet, not very pleasant. Will give it another go.
I was only there for the Afternoon Tea, but the staff was unfailingly accommodating, attentive, and kind. It was what we Americans wistfully think of as refined, without being stuffy.
Could not have wished for a better week-end break. The luxury Suite was - well - luxurious. Every single member of staff were fantastic, the meals were first class. One of the waiters in the Garden Room, young Italian man called Loranzo, was extremely polite and made my wife and I feel like Royalty. This young man will go far. Only slight problem was the poor lighting in the two restaurants (Celler and Garden Room) making it very difficult to read the Menu. Thanks again for making the weekend very special.

Attended small family wedding. Magical day. The Best Venue.
Old-fashioned, quiet luxury. High ceilings, Georgian interior. Rooms are higher than they are wide! It s a bit of a rabbit warren - like two or three townhouses melded together. Staff are quietly courteous and there are a good number of them. Traditional ambience. For meetings it s rather old-fashioned: gurgling projectors on the tables, wire spaghetti, but functional.
Quaint but sophisticated. The staff are amazing and quick to assist.. Ask the doormen fora good place to eat locally. They will not stir you wrong.
The world's best hospitality in the heart of Dublin
Such a beautiful hotel in Dublin. Food and service were amazing
Love this hotel... feel I am at a wonderful home. .. lovely rooms great breakfast.. excellent staff... great to their returning customers.... really best 5star in Dublin
They really understand the fine art of making a body feel very special.
Service is outstanding.
A fab afternoon tea in wonderful surroundings shared with my daughter. Amazing service.
Absolutely stunning building from the outside it stands elegantly with a beautiful decor to match on the interior. The merrion proudly holds Irelands largest private art collection which they are happy to arrange tours for. We received outstanding service from the minute we arrived. We had booked in for an afternoon of Art Tea. Welcomed at the door by the porter and guided to our seats by by the Host. Our host was warm, welcoming and jolly. He made some wonderful recommendations and explained the Art tea is split in 2 courses each month the chef will chose multiple pieces of art and will decorate the Art Tea Inspired by those pieces. The cakes in themselves are works of art and it feels like such a pity to eat them. However eat them we did... and they tasted just as good as they looked. To accompany our treats we decided to try a couple of cocktails which were absolutely delicious. Great balance of flavors. An absolutely wonderful experience, especially if celebrating something special. Also prior to ordering the host kindly checked if we had any dietary requirements. My friend is a vegetarian and often feels embarrassed requesting changes to menus. She awkwardly admitted to being a vegetarian. The host immediately made some recommendations for vegetarian alternatives to the meat sandwiches. Which were equally as mouth watering as the meat version. They even had a vegan option of the afternoon tea available.
Fantastic facility and fantastic service. One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in.
Top grade hotel in Dublin. Staff very accommodating. Let us into the dining room as the kitchen was about to close. Very much appreciated
Class without stuffiness, comfort without concern, centrally located without hubbub, and so worth the few dollars more than the competition. Be assured you will love the staff. Stop your search and make your reservation now and ask for a room in the old wing you will not be disappointed.
Truly amazing! Wonderful Tea with my daughter and granddaughter. Treats were fantastic. Beautiful surroundings and a wonderful staff. A must to visit when in Dublin.
We had such a lovely day in the Merrion - the food and service were fantastic in the Terrace.
By right one of the Leading Hotels of the World. Great facilities and impecable service. The breakfast is marvelous. The interiours is decorated by magnificant paintings.
This is the best hotel we have stayed at in Dublin and quieter than those on St Stephens Green. We stayed in the main house and the room was superb. Every detail was considered and all the linens, robes and bar snacks and drinks were superior to other 5 stars we have used. Unfortunately we were only doing a quick overnight so no time to check out the spa or restaurants. The building is very well staffed and all were helpful, attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend a stay.
My husband and I stay here every year for my birthday. From arrival at the front door to check out all the staff are extremely pleasant. The rooms are beautiful especially the junior suites in the old part of the house. The food is nice and I love having a bottle of Bollinger in the lounge in the evenings infront of the open fire. The lounge is lovely and relaxing unlike some other big hotels nearby. Can t wait to go back in October for a weekend!
Lovely hotel with great staff with three restaurants on site. Highly recommend the Garden Room Restaurant.
...very nice location and property, incredible art collection and superb staff and service, make sure you get a room that is not beside a lift, but apart from that this was lovely...
Lovely coffee and tea selection in very cosy lounge room.
Amazing and luxurious hotel through and through. Absolutely the best. Everything is decorated magnificently with good taste. Rooms are comfortable and the bed is amazing. The bathroom is superb, with extremely high quality towels and robes. The staff is super friendly and efficient. We really were impressed by everything, with nothing bad to write about
Stunningly beautiful hotel steeped in history and Art. Wonderful Staff nothing is too much trouble. Close proximity to great shops museums and art galleries
Fabulous lunch in the Garden Room. First class service from Miranda... gorgeous space, very restful in the centre of bustling Dublin
Can't say enough good things about the Merrion Hotel. The staff always greets you with a smile. Big, fantastically appointed room/bathroom. Beautiful grounds/garden. And the most delicious food in their attached Michelin star restaurant. Would definitely stay here again.
We had a 3 course lunch with bottle of white wine (well chosen by waiting staff to accompany our choices) in the Garden Room. From being warmly greeted by friendly door staff to being seated at our table, we felt welcome and special. Meal was delicious, staff attentive and engaging. The room is delightful and bright. There were small groups and larger ones coming and going, family groups, friends, tourists and business people. The atmosphere is convivial as it is special. Our table was beside the calming gardens and we felt that we were not in a city center location. We arrived at 12.30 and left at 17.30! No concept of time passing. We will definitely be returning and recommend this as a lovely city center meeting spot. I can only imagine what it would be like to stay as a guest.
We had afternoon tea here and it was absolutely exquisite.
Wowser, just had afternoon tea. Fantastic. Although the pastries in the second course are a sight to behold I actually preferred the sandwiches... that good ! Won't wait 21 years again before next visit
An amazing afternoon such a lovely setting friendly staff amazing food
We will ho back
I tried to join the Merrion gym from now (August) until the end of the year. I was informed it was not possible, instead I would need to pay the full rate from June to October, at which point I would be able to join for a year due to billing system constraints. It is crazy to ask customers to foot the cost of two extra months because you don't want to update your billing system to suit reasonable needs. Really disappointed in a usually wonderful hotel.
