The things they do here are so great. The staff is very knowledgable, friendly, and helpful. Trish helped us and taught us so much in the hour we were there. Very educational and a fun time.

Fabulous free place to learn about wildlife and support their rescues. Beautifully kept facility.
They do great work with stranded and injured animals. It's a great place to learn about animals, too, especially from the docents. Go in spring to see more animals and take a tour. In July, they might have a handful of sea lions or seals, but they're kept farther away from viewing.
Plenty of parking up or down the hill; give-what-you-like donation entry fee inside.
Make sure to visit and support this place. Hidden gem. See how the real rescuers work and nurse sealife back to health and be able to go back home. Very clean. Educational. Beautiful views.
This place is amazing!!! Don't forget to visit the blue whale skeleton when you leave.
We love this place. It is great to see the good work being done to heal the wounded seals and sea lions. The staff were friendly and were able to answer every questions the kids had about the sea lions and their habitat.
One of the most interesting places for animal lovers at Marin county
What a great place! Rode or bicycles out here. Great for children.
Lots of volunteers helping ypy learn about marine mammals.
Contacted them re a stray seal in the marsh and they're very responsive via phone and text.
I came for a field trip once a long time ago, but it was definitely a trip to remember. So many different kinds of sea animals and they take such great care of all of them.
love what they do, it s great to see people care so much about the rehabilitation of local animals!
They are doing amazing work here! Love seeing all of the rehab animals and facilities that the Marine mammal center has available.
Wonderful place to visit and learn about how they rehab marine mammals after they are injured or become ill.
Plan on walking a bit, the main parking lot is down the steep hill. Also, plan on bringing your checkbook. The gift shop had so many cute niknaks and clothing items that it was hard to leave without spending a ton of money.
The two separate viewing areas give visitors the opportunity to see up close, the marine mammal patients in their pens. Also, you can watch the staff prepare & feed the animals. The sounds of sea lions & seals are the dominant sounds you will hear the roar of the ocean.
If you are so inclined, there are opportunities to adopt a seal, sea lion, sea otter, etc. The donation will go to help fund further care for sick or injured marine mammals.
Great for field trips. Very educational.
They are doing wonderful work, and will share their stories.
Awesome but need to be more educational for kids and adults
We did the tour of the Marine Mammal Center. The workers seem like they care a lot about the animals. The tour itself is short and went through a lot of information quickly.
Learn about seals and sea lions and how the Marine Mammal Center rehabilitates them. Lots to learn. And there's a viewing area of some of the rehab pools. Take the tour ($9)!
Great exhibits. Great cause. Plus it is free. If you go in thinking you are going to get a face to face experience like a zoo or an aquarium, prepare to be disappointed.
The people is always nice there, and tell you everything about it.
Marine Mammal rescue and educational center. View the staff and learn how they take care of locally rescued sea mammals.
This place is definitely off the beaten path but so much better than pier 39 if you're interested in the local wildlife and conservation.
You get to see all sorts of cool animals and if you go on the right day, you get to see them release an animal back into the wild.
Great place. Very well organized. Heart warming work done by many volunteers.
This organization of great, caring professionals is doing amazing work helping the seals and other marine life survive the over aggressive human handling of the ocean. Visiting this facility is an eye opening experience about how, us humans, are damaging our bubble and how most of us do not understand what we are doing.
Camps for the children are wonderful and the drive there is so enjoyable to start your day!
I must admit this is by all my favorite stop evey month. I get to see all the animals from behind the scenes or the lines. To the Dr who wore the green sweats on 8/19/18 I believe on thursday, next time I roll through, can I get a tour of the place? After I get your name? Im the new guy (FNG) who brings your barrels....Not Ricky!
Love this place.. We're members and we visit everyone we're in Sausalito
It's free, it helps rehabilitate ocean buddies, and it has lots of cool info about the ocean and science and the center itself. If you like the ocean, animals, or learning how stuff works, you should check it out.
Doing a remarkable job with seal management and conservation education
Interesting place! It will good for kids especially.
A great insight into local marine mammals and the amazing work the centre does to care for them. Staff were very helpful and enthusiastic - the centre is well set up for visitors with guided & audio tours, as well as being an active working hospital. Highly recommended.
Lovely new facility full of Wonderful, kind people helping distressed animals.
These guys are dedicated to the sea life around here. Great work guys!
Please visit this wonderful, dedicated team of people! We loved learning about the seals and seeing the results of their great work. Don't forget to leave a little donation so they can keep it up!
Very informative about a centre that rescues and rehabilitates injured marine mammals; patients are mostly sea lion, elephant, harbour, northern fur seals, and the southern sea otter. One patient was being treated for a gunshot wound to the eye and another was recovering from being entangled in plastic. Admission is only $10, and anything you spend at the gift shop supports their rehabilitation and education efforts.
The largest Marine mammal hospital in the world is just a few minutes outside of San Francisco. This is an incredible facility that's worth visiting to learn more about the famous Bay Area Sea Lions, but also Sea Otters, Elephants Seals, and more. Also an amazing place to volunteer. I work a Tuesday shift feeding the animals and it is an incredible chance to interact and really help these animals before they're released back into the wild. Thanks TMMC for the great work you do!
This place is a hidden gem. Take your kids and learn about local Marine life, and find out how amazing this organization is.
My daughter stayed and protected very sick who was beached. The sea lion was in danger of being run over because he was so sick he wouldn t go back in the water. They were kind and helpful I knew just what to do.This is a top notch rescue group and deserves your donations
I had no idea this place existed. What they're doing is great. Highly recommend visiting here before hiking around. Check out the wildlife they're helping and donate. You can get a more personal tour for $10 if you are interested.
They have clean bathrooms and a cute gift shop with a good amount of parking near by. They do have 2 EV change stations too.
A medical center, not an amusement park. Tours and informational events are awesome. Just keep your voice down
The Marine Mammal Center the largest marine mammel hospital in the world. It is a fantastic place for children and adults to be educated about marine mammals.
This was a great place to learn about the many different deals and what this center does. Learning about the different textures and what each seal's native geographic region is was great. The tour is $9 per person and I would skip it because you really don't get any extra behind the scenes viewings but you can pay and consider it a donation.
Love it! Everybody is doing an amazing job rehabilitating all the sick and malnourished animals.Thumbs Up!
Good place for researchers who wants to know more about sea lions, seals and whales. Those who are studying about mammals and ocean technology should visit, for them this place has laboratory which provides good knowledge.
This place is good to visit with beach near by.
A must-see I must go to if you have children or even adults and you want to learn about the mammals in the San Francisco Bay Area it's awesome and it's free
Fantastic experience at the Marine Mammal Center! Visited here for a field trip and got to learn a lot about the various functions of the center. We took a very informative tour which laid out their processes and their mission. Got to see the observation deck where you can observe actual animals that have been rescued and are waiting to heal. Even got to see an autopsy which wasn't the easiest to look at, but it is great that they show all aspects of what they do here and the research that is used to help the animals in the future. Great place to visit and learn!
Small but what a wonderful opportunity to see the care for ocean animals
Free and open to the public! Cute baby seals and sea lions- best time to come is late spring, they usually have a full house after pupping season. If you're lucky you can catch a live feeding, or for the morbidly curious, a necropsy! Definitely a unique stop for visitors or locals...and its build on the site of a former nuclear missile silo!
It has amazing resources. We are going on a field trip there!
They do great work here. If you are in the area go and visit and support the wildlife conservation they carry out. Good tour and a well stocked gift shop that supports them financially. Located in a nice area.
My sister volunteers there. We were staying at at Ft Barry Hostel and discovered them there. They do amazing work to save lives and return to wild. Support their work and adopt one of their patients!! Donate to their outstanding work!
They do great work protecting animals in the area and the tour was very informative. It's in an area that's fun to look around and go to the beach, children may be underwhelmed with what they see here.
They provide a wonderful service to the area. Helping marine animals in need. Also host a wonderful kids summer camp and volunteer/intern opportunities.
Great educational site to visit with the family and see some of the impacts that humans have on nature.
They help and save so many animals, coordinating rescue efforts with other organizations.
I always enjoy bringing out of town friends here. It is a great space, that has a little something for everyone. There is a beautiful view of the ocean to enjoy before you even go in. They have hosted tours or you can wander on your own. This is one of the largest veterinary hospitals in the world and they do very important work. They have a very nice gift shop with things in all price ranges. If you have a little time to spare, it's worth the side trip.
Such a cool place to take kids and adults. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and super welcoming. Lots of sea lions and seals to be seen eating meals and learning to swim.
Great to see the seals and the good work they do. Also awesome to see the new facility.
Very nice facility. I wish we had gone for a visit years earlier. Definitely try to schedule your trip for one of the docent tour times. It's free entrance and free parking but the docent tour has a small charge. Please consider donating or at least make a purchase in the gift shop to support the organization. They also have a rescue hospital on the big island of Hawaii now to support the Hawaiian monk seal. We'll hopefully visit the Hawaii location this June.
The staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. Great rescue and rehab center. Plus you'll be surrounded by all the hikes and scenery of the Marin Headlands. Great little spot.
Beautiful location. Fascinating and educational exhibits. Friendly and informative staff. Great volunteer opportunities. Nice gift shop. Above all, see live Marine mammals that have been resuced and are being rehabilitated.
Great preserve! My girlfriend does great work there and she is pretty cool!
I first learned about The Marine Mammal Center from watching the TV shows 'Sea Rescue' and 'Ocean Mysteries with Jeff Corwin' on my local ABC station. When I started researching my trip to the San Francisco Bay Area, I came across this place, put two and two together realizing this was the place I had see on TV multiple times and knew that I had to visit here! Even though I was aware of what The Marine Mammal Center does and I'm very knowledgeable with pinnipeds (pinnipeds are a clade of seals, sea lions, and walruses) I still learned a lot, especially on the docent-led tour. Even though you definitely could just walk around yourself and read the signage, I highly recommend you do the docent-led tour because it is very interesting. Driving to The Marine Mammal Center from either the North over the Golden Gate Bridge you get scenic views of the Marin Headlands (The Marine Mammal Center is located within the Marin Headlands). If you do not have a car to drive directly to The Marine Mammal Center, it's a hassle to get there by taking public transportation, so I took a cab there. Luckily, my San Francisco cab driver had been to The Marine Mammal Center before so he was familiar with how to get there. To get back, to San Francisco, I also took a cab but because there was very minimal phone service near there in the Marin Headlands (I have Sprint) I had to use The Marine Mammal Center's landline phone, which was very nice of them to let me use. If you plan to do the docent-led tour I recommend scheduling time still to walk around yourself so you look at the animals more and read more of the signs, plus they have a great gift shop (you can also purchase gift shop items from their website). Unlike some other not-for-profit animal rescue centers around the world, this place has fantastic, well-maintained facilities. All the employees and volunteers help to save so many animals every year, including harbor seals, fur seals, elephant seals, and sea lions. The Marine Mammal Center is even helping to increase the Hawaiian Monk Seal's population which is critically endangered. I highly recommend visiting The Marine Mammal Center and supporting the great work that they do.
Wonderful teaching hospital for the sick and injured Sea monsters
Very worthy organization on a mission we all need to know more about. Worth the stop. Very kid friendly
Great place for animal lovers and education. It gave us more flavor to our trip than just coastal views. Loved it!
Small site but fun place to visit with grandkids. Very educational.
This place is amazing. There's tons of info on all sorts of marine mammals and the staff are very knowledgable. The highlight is seeing all the seal pups barking, yowling, and flopping around in their temporary homes. It's both amazing and hilarious at the same time. Definitely stop by and visit!
This is a rehab center hospital for the mammals and its a step by step self guided tour great for all ages who wanna see a look into the process of saving mammals! Theres a gift shop also! Perfect for all ages. My kids and i enjoyed our time there. We spent a good hr and 15 mins there. Admission is free! Its a great place to explore. They also have a few benches to eat lunch /picnic
Mammals center location is well in the lap of the nature. Well maintained center doing great service for mammals
Great job helping the sea lions. Love the job they are doing.
I volunteer here. It's a great place to work especially if marine science is your major.
Great place. They take care for the animals. They help them live but some don t survive. Please contact this place if you see a marine mammal and they will help it (stay as far enough so you don t scare the animal)
