After Stuart confirming he will do a refund when shown the receipt due to not being able to do the dig.. We have emailed and called and now won't respond to give us the money back... Been over a year... Don't waste your time or money.. Can't even leave a voicemail and refuses to call back! Not a small amount of money to lose either! We call all the time and no one ever answers... Emails are not responded too...

Quiet privately excavated site by the roadside... stone buildings and wells from medieval period. Owner was there, very pleasant, no charge.... tho' calling it a City is a LITTLE exaggerated!

A relatively small, but very interesting archaeological dig, which has been 'Work in Progress' for several years now and continuing, thanks to the enthusiasm and perseverance of Stuart Wilson and his team. They are all most knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to share their expertise. At its height, in around 1200, Trellech was indeed a city, the biggest by far in Wales, and a quarter of the size of London at that time. Well worth a visit!

It's basic. But I enjoyed it Stuart is a mine of information and happy to answer questions or enlarge on points brought up. After trowling for a few hours, I have a greater respect for those who do it and never get as much as a mention.

Went looking for this so called city, and found an exaggerated tourist trap. Don't be sucked in, there is good archaeology here, but this is a honey pot with very little to engage with, unless you are willing to open the wallet.

Amazing place and experience - if you want to try something different for the day then you get a real insight into exploring a medieval city, a chance to do your own digging and 'finds' and the huge experience and interests of Stuart who runs the place. Good for families with older teenagers who like history (and don't mind being distracted from their phones for a few hours). Social distancing and hand sanitisers in place etc.
