Excellent service with great food. Highly recommend

An excellent family run fish and chips restaurant and takeaway. Fish and chips of the highest quality and very reasonable prices.

Fish always perfectly cooked at a price better than most . Bonus is that it's great to sit in the car at the bottom of the road and eat your meal looking out to sea while still crispy. Only Downside is parking by the shop sometimes difficult to get a space. But nearby parking is not far. Always spaces along the left side of the beach at bottom of the road to stop and enjoy your meal. So good that we travel from Brixham (the Mecca of the fish and chip shops in the bay. ) especially for our treat. RT.

Simply put - THE BEST CHIP SHOP in the UK imo. I have travelled a lot round the country and I love off chips. These are the best chips in the whole of Torbay, not to mention the restaurant itself has seating is open all day and whenever there is a valentines or Xmas season they decorate the whole shop it s amazing. The staff are so nice and friendly and the prices aren t too high PLUS they have a wide range on offer. If your reading this trust me try them out you will NOT be disappointed.

The food is great, always my preferred Chippy in Paignton/Preston area by a long shot.
One particular member of staff can be quite rude although I'm not sure she means to be, possibly just her way. Aside from her I've always received good service.
There is usually places to park on the opposite side of the road if you're going by car, not normally a problem.

Used to be best fish and chips in Preston sadly gone down a bit in last 12 months.

Whilst on holiday, chose this chippy based on the reviews. We were NOT disappointed!
For me, the sign saying that all fish (apart from cod) must be ordered as you enter is a great sign - it means that the fish you buy will be freshly cooked and not sitting under a hot light for some time, getting progressively soggier batter. No - the batter here is lovely and light - almost tempura-like.
The large cod is basically two portions of cod isntead of one large fillet, but it does mean that you do not have the common problem of undercooked fish.
The skate is very good quality and is a good price - especially compared to London prices.
I can't comment on the rest of the menu, because I only went there twice in the week, and couldn't resist the cod the second time!
The queue was large both times (always a good sign!), so for all newbies, the right-hand queue is for placing the order, the left-hand is waiting for order to be cooked.
Next time I go back to Paignton, I will check this chippy out again:). In the evening, it is takes less time to drive back to Torquay than it does to get to the front of the queue, so don't dismiss this just because the address is "Paignton".

The chips from here are LOVLEY !We go to Devon twice a year and always return here.The queues are quite long for obvious reasons .The only gripe is I'd say a few more chips needed on a large portion they seems like a small bit paid for large

One of the best fish and chip outlets in the bay, in particular the batter is nice and crispy and not oily.

Placed an online order for collection. Food was ready at the advised time. Such a life saver at the end of a hard day. The food was amazing. And even catered for my vegan wife. Staff were really friendly and handled the whole social distancing very well. Thank you.

Have recently been diagnosed with a wheat allergy .. I like Fish & chips & usually get them from here. Called in there & asked if they could do wheat free .. Yes no problem & it was the lightest, crispiest batter I've ever had FAB .. Thank you so much.

Took ages even though they weren't busy. Fish (haddock) was nice but a bit dry/overcooked -would've been much better if cooked for a minute, maybe two minutes, less. Will try again though.

Usually quite fast service when not busy, when the shop is busy, queue is usually outside. One time I ordered a frozen mango swirl and the machine didn t work and the employee got annoyed it didn t work so they just filled the tub half way up for us when it was meant to be all the way full ( I know this as I order this a lot) and then she got annoyed as it was busy and just handed us that. We went back in and complained and the lady gave us a frozen mango pot instead. The fish and chips is normally lovely but this disappointed me a little.

Disappointed. I usually come here quite a lot for my fish and chips usually good service and amazing food, but today when I went in I ordered large chips, frozen yogurt swirl and battered mars bar. When the food came it was fine they said we are just making your swirl now so me and my brother watched them make it and one of the staff members who was doing it go fustrated kind of because the machine wouldn t work. We got about two swirls which didn t even fill halfway to the pot. So the worker just gave us a not even half filled up cup of yogurt that We paid 2 pounds for! She didn t even tell us the machine wasn t working and just handed it to us like it was fine! So after we went back in and told them, they didn t say anything and then they just gave us a free mango swirl that you put in the machine . Quite disappointing. Usually really good service and nice food. But the rest of the food was as good as usual.

What can I say, best in the bay, cannot be beaten.

Best local chip shop. Can get very busy and the portions have got a little smaller. Fantastic menu and they cater well for Vegetarians.

Good fish and chips but not liking new cardboard boxes and also noticed portions have got smaller!!! :-//
