This is a very low quality, nasty ski resort. Parking and walkways are not paved, equipment is old, the lodge and deck needs lots of repairs. The food servers did not wear cloves while preparing food and one server put his hand in a bowl on the buffet fishing for pickles. I paid for bibbs online and was told they did not have anymore when I got there. Why reserve online?

Not a bad place to ski, would have given 5 stars had the entire resort been open. One of the lifts was shut down and a few of the slopes were closed (probably due to lack of snow), and admittedly this is towards the end of their operating season, so going in Dec or Jan would yield a more accurate result. Overall for what I experienced, it's pretty decent, defy worth a visit.

I desperately need to thank the gentleman who helped me ski down the mountain at wolf ridge ski resort February 13th. He has red hair, was wearing a U.S. Navy hat, and is from SC. His friend George was skiing with him for the first time and that's literally all I know. Soooo... not much information but I'll provide $50 to whoever can help me find him

We came from Florida to our winter break. I did some online hunting and found this place was just over an hour from Lake Lure where our cabin was! Drive from Lake Lure to Wolf was STUNNING - mountain views and very charming location. My entire family had never skied and we had an absolute BLAST at Wolf Ridge Ski Resort and Tubing!!! My kids took their first ski lesson with Hawkin and Erin and they were so great with our kids. The boys really took to them and learned a lot! We also did the 1hour tubing at the bottom of the mountain and what a great time it was! The guys at the top helped lock our tubes together so we could slide fast in groups of four. The ramp was perfect and really picked up speed. We went likely a dozen times each of us! Friendly staff and great day for all was had. Thank you so very much for spending time with us every step of the way. Sharon was amazing by email as I had questions about my 4 year old skiing. Ticket sales member was friendly and helpful, the girls in the snack shake sweet and friendly, the folks helping with gear knowledgable and very kind. Can't wait to visit again.

This review is about the tubing attraction which should not be listed as part of the Wolf Ridge Ski Resort at all because it is not at all located on or even near enough to be considered especially for out of towners that are coming for the Ski resort experience. That said, the tubing location is located a few miles down the road outside of the resort gate community and near other better tubing places. Wolf RIdge being what it is should not have this trash yard place associated with its name and should be sued for the pictures that are on the website because it was nothing like what I or many others expected. As the planner of this trip for my family; I was so embarrased and felt like I had been ripped off. Take it off your site. It is not at all good for business and families coming from a distance are wasting their money for this attraction which in it's self is way over priced for what you get compared to other ski resports that have actually snow tubing on mountains (not ramps).

If we hadn t accidentally gone to the zip n slip first, maybe it would be a 4. But it was pretty lame. The equivalent of having a snow blower on your backyard hill. Maybe if you have littler kids it might work better, but with 4, ranging 4-12 they weren t thrilled. We prebought passes online, and after 30 min left and went back to zip n slip which was AWESOME! I will say the people here were very nice and friendly. They just need more snow and more slope.

Very nice ski resort, everyone was extremely helpful and nice. Staying with the guard shack all the way to the lift operators. They also provide snow tubing for children and it was very fun for the entire family.

Our Youth Group was there today, and I was the Keeper of the Stuff. Dodge is a gentleman that works there. He made sure I was comfortable as I sat in front of the fireplace and watched TV for the hours we were there. Met a lot of nice people too. The Youth had fun skiing, snowboarding, tubing. A suggestion though, put the tubing near the skiing/ snowboarding, so a vehicle is not required to go from one place to the other.

Do NOT GO HERE! I know many people who have been injured on their slopes including myself (one is now paralyzed). They allow skiing when the temperature is low enough to freeze their fake snow and makes it SO dangerous. It is not worth it at all.

This is place was a good value. The group snowboard lesson we did was good. Our instructor was helpful and had a buff around his neck to pull up and cover his face anytime he got closer which I appreciated. Only two staff members indoors had masks/neck buffs which was extremely disappointing. The snowboard rental was not great. We needed a women's size 9.5 in boots, but there were only sizes 9 or available. The first pair we were given were ripped and torn, the next were soaking wet, and finally the third pair were fine. The woman helping us with the boots was one of the two staff members wearing a mask and was very helpful and nice. I would go back, but not during COVID times.

I took my nieces here for a day and the snow tubing was very fun. The track is shorter than some of the surrounding establishments but for my five year old, this was excellent as she could ride the hill by herself without any problems. There is a conveyor belt that takes you back up the hill so it isn't terrible to climb and even with as many people as we're we're there, the kids could go down as many times as they wanted till they were worn out. I would rate the experience as a full 5 stars for my 5 year old but the teenager really wanted a longer, faster hill but overall still had a blast.

Now for the negative, the GPS directions do not take you to the right place so watching the addresses on the mailboxes is a better method for finding the tubing hill. If you end up at the ski resort, you are in the wrong place and will have to backtrack to the tubing hill. Parking at the tubing hill is limited and was quite muddy so be prepared for that.

Other than the small negatives, the staff was friendly and helpful once we arrived, the prices are reasonable for the area and the experience was great! I would recommend this establishment to others with the caveat of the GPS directions and the parking.

Awful place to ski and and go tubing. No enforcement of any covid precautions. Nobody wore masks not even in the line to the lift. Corona hotbox. Only one single path was open for the entire day and tons of ice patches all through the hill even right after the groomed. Had to swap rentals 5 times and still didnt get quality equipment. Had absolutely no snowboards for rental.

I accidentally left my headlights on and my battery was dead when we got to the car. An employee named jeff had jumper cables and got my car going. I tried to give him 15 or 20 bucks but he would not take any money. We had a great time and we also enjoyed talking to the 69 yo ski instructor. I like this place.

I ve been to most ski resorts in western North Carolina and Wolf ridge is probably my least favorite.
It s not super spread out, not a lot of lighting on the slopes. It s an okay place for someone who is intermediate-advanced, but it is not a good place to go if you are a beginner. I recently took two people who had never been before, and this place did not have slopes for them. Catalooche has the best beginner slopes around.
Like I said, not too bad if your advanced. This place just isn t my favorite

Very experienced skier. I am pleasantly surprised. Of course it's one of the smaller resorts in the country and is half covered in ice, but it's convenient and economical. It's certainly not a waste of (insert discount ticket price), and there are a number of economical hotel options in Ashville.

Good place for scratching the skiing itch that is close to Asheville. As an advanced skiier, I enjoyed an afternoon there- more time wasn't necessary. However, it was the second day of their season when I went.

Wonderful place for a first time skier. We went on the Monday afternoon of President s Day. John in the gift shop was so kind and helpful and really made us feel welcome. The prices are very fair, staff was extremely friendly and happy to answer any of my questions, lines were short both in the rental shop and on the slopes so plenty of opportunities were to be had to get out there and do it. My boyfriend brought me and encouraged me to keep getting up and trying as much as I fell on my butt lol..we had a great time, even with less favorable weather conditions (a bit drizzly and icy). All of the other guests were friendly and having just as much fun. We will definitely return here next time we are in the area during ski season!

Very Dangerous. Heavy equipment, snow equipment telephone poles unguarded all on the sides of the slope. If someone were to hit any of these they would either be dead or seriously wounded. The kiddy course has a unguarded conveyor where literally watched people have drop to the ground so they would not go under it and get seriously hurt. Net gaurds that is supposed to protect kids at the training area with the poles are literally about to fall over. If someone were to hit it they would plunge 20foot down to the parking lot. If OSHA were to surprise inspect this place they would shut down operations.

We came all the way from Atlanta to come to this Ski resort. We did not feel welcomed at all! After I paid $300 for me and my son we were sent downstairs from the ticket booth to get ski gear. When we got downstairs the lady told me we were in the wrong area. As the lady from the ticket booth told us to go down their. We went back upstairs and was getting the run around as to where to get the ski gear. It was a total mess! On top of that my son ski things kept falling off from his shoe. Ski instructor wasn t as informative as we got a private instructor for an hour. I just feel like if I m paying $300 for me and my son to ski for one their should be great customer service, for two you shouldnt have sent us downstairs and back upstairs looking for where to get the ski rental and employees acting as if they can t help, the instructor was not great (he was the only nice person though), and also they are not wearing mask to protect people from the virus. Also, I paid for all rental equipment and when it got to my son to get his bib the guy told me he doesn t have my son size and walked away without finish helping me. How were they out of his size on a slow day why they were empty early morning on a weekday?! If you are African American don t waste your money with these people. They look at us crazy and don t give us great service. Take your money to another ski resort! Thank me later!

Well worth the experience I had here, except the part when i slammed my face on ice towards the end of the season when it got warm out. For the price on a Tuesday you can't beat it. Slopes were good, grooming wasn't so great but it was solid ice. I just wish they would open back up the other side of the mountain.

We had an awesome time tubing here this weekend. We went early on a Saturday morning and it was so much fun. There was a lot of people, but there was a nice flow going, so it didn't effect how many times we were able to go down the hill. The hill was the perfect size and the staff was extremely nice. We will def be back next year.

Overall not so great. Parking is awful. You have to hike up really steep and dangerous stairs to get up to the "lodge". Not easy when you have kids with you and are carrying a bunch of stuff. Lines were SUPER long for tickets and food- which by the way you can't bring in any outside food. Lines were SUPER long for chair lifts too. Very few runs and it was incredibly icy. Expensive for what you get.

Conveniently located close to I 26 with a 20 minutes drive from the interstate on the Tennessee and North Carolina boarder. They were recycling snow and adding man made snow for a nice snow pack. The Grill offers hot drinks as well as hot dogs burgers and French fries.

Took like two hours to get on the slopes because of the horrible organization. Staffed by a bunch of teenagers that are very busy with their phones. Be careful not to interrupt the tik tok browsing with an actual need. I had what seemed to be a 12 year old boy working there throw a helmet at me then laugh about it with his friend. Oh, and looking for a place to contract COVID? You found it. 1 out of 10 staff members had a mask and everyone was crammed in there together. I could seriously write an essay on all the stuff that was wrong here, but this place already wasted enough of my time.

Our family had an amazing time learning how to snowboard on the Wolf. The staff was very helpful. From the cooks to the ski patrol everyone here went above and beyond to make our experience the best it could be. Special thanks to Russel for his words of encouragement and picture taking skills! Can t wait to return next year!

Well...I tried snowboarding. Bought tickets weeks in advance only to be told that they ran out? What's the point of making me reserve them and wait in line that long?

Okay, so they give me skiis... The whole ordeal took around 45min-1hr. Then comes the skii lesson part... I'm not exaggerating when i say this was the RUDEST. INSTRUCTOR. EVER. He was SCREAMING at everyone when they messed up!! YELLING!!! So much pressure!!

Dont get me started on this place's covid protocols..because there are none.

Horrible first experience and I will never be coming back. Gosh...

They are a great group of people they worked hard to make sure that my kids would have a good time skiing. They took the time to go down the mountain with the ones that were scared. They had snow ball fights with them it was great.

You ve got to be kidding me. I ve never left a review anywhere before; good, bad, or indifferent. And, I m a proponent of supporting local businesses. That said, the misrepresentation of the snow tubing facility is an atrocity and wrong. We drove over an hour with 4 kids to go tubing on the mountain as part of our vacation. We arrived to see a molehill roughly 100 yards in length with exposed plywood for that extra winter wonderland vibe. Of course, there was also the magic carpet which I suppose if a single file line walking up the molehill is magical , then David Copperfield would have been proud. The courtesy of honest representation and advertising would be appreciated so people can make informed decisions on how to spend their hard earned money and time.

A one star review would have been to the point of ...

A one star review would have been to the point of paying for a ticket, and leaving early because it was so bad. Um, yeah I was that close, but didn't. Where do I start? Well when you first arrive, you are gonna be waiting in a long, painfully slow line. Why? Because there is only one ticket booth that is open on a Friday. When you wait in the line, be sure to read every single word on every single sign, because no where does it tell you that backpacks are not allowed on the mountain. We make are way, after buying the tickets, to the only ski lift open (when the website states 12 out of 15 trails are open, be sure to know only 3 are open) when a rude employee strictly demands all four of us to get rid of our backpacks. We were a little confused, because we never saw any signage or anyone telling us that we couldn't where them while at the ticket booth. She quickly tells us that we need to learn to read, and sarcastically points to three signs next to the ski lift stating you cant where backpacks on the lift, or the mountain. Maybe, take one of those signs and move it to the front? Before people get all the way to the ski lift? Anyway, after we come back from putting our backpacks in the car, we see, ah yes, an individual coming off the mountain wearing a backpack. Since this is a review, and not an autobiography, best to know these are the people you may...WILL deal with once you arrive. To describe the mountain itself? Not once has it been maintained that's for sure...actually, if you fancy getting your snowboard or skis scratched, or even broken, by uncovered jagged rocks on the trial (keeping in mind this is a green trail, not black), then you would have a great time! Closes the lift 10 minutes before closing, blah blah blah. Enough for me to never come back, that is for sure! And while I know this is one of my longer reviews, it's one of the more honest and descriptive reviews than most on this website... a 1.5 in stars, if I had the option.

Great staff, super helpful and kind. We enjoyed our visit and were able to introduce our kids to skiing. Only one slope is open but the bunny slopes is enough for our young kids. We will definitely come back. The lodge is cozy and warm with decent food. We are happy this is open and so beautiful with the snowy, wintry setting.

They should start a side business and sell ice cubes because thats basically what the entire mountain is. Also there are random holes in the runs at the bottom of some fairly steep runs that you can't see until the last second. This place changed hands years back to improve but it seems exactly the same. Its only a matter of time before something bad happens here. Go to Catalooche Ski instead.
Friends don't let other friends ski at Wolf Ridge.

You will get COVID-19 in this place.

You will get COVID-19 in this place.

We were here for a weekend ski trip, and OMG...zero adherence to protocols by both, guests and staff. No masks, no social distancing...zero enforcement.

The bathrooms were gross, like, I m sure people get STDs by just going in there.

Be ready to wait in long lines, even if you buy your tickets online.

Website said 6 slopes and 3 chairs open. Ha! Yeah, one slope that changes names as you go down, and 1 chair and 2 mini conveyor belts for beginners. So be ready to repeat the same one slope over, and over...and over again. Snow making: MIA.

Restaurant: closed windows, PACKED and kitchen staff not only maskless, but also no gloves or any sanitary measures. Pre.tty sure the oil in which everything is fried in there hasn t been changed for a while.

So yeah, if you are looking to catch covid, go and hang out in this place, you won t be disappointed.

Have been going here for almost two decades and it has only improved. Johnny the owner, is onsite most all the time making aure all is well ran. The staff is all professional and pleasant. The slopes are the best around. There is a great grill for food and drinks. They also provide lessons for begginers and continuing skills. We thoroughly enjoy this resort for snowboarding and will continue to visit indefinately! We highly recomend for families or singles. This is a top notch establishment. Thanks Johnny and staff! We had a blast last night and looking forwards to many more to come this year!
