Our son-in-laws body was held by these people for 12 hrs after our daughter told the nursing staff at Meritus she did NOT want to donate, the funeral home was unable to pick up his remains. Our family was inconvenienced because Living Legacy put a "hold" on his removal. HORRIBLE during a time of intense stress & sadness. How this was promulgated into law is disgusting!

I found out my daughter was in the hospital in ICU and when I arrived Living Legacy already knew of her situation and came into her room to speak with me. My daughter had not been pronounced dead and they were like vultures sitting outside patients rooms, waiting on them to die. When I arrived on my next visit they were again waiting outside her room and spoke with me before the results of my daughters final brain function testing. I'm puzzled as to how HIPPA laws can be broken, her organs were donated 3 days later. I have written the recipients and asked to her from them. Emails go days without answers and then they are very vague. I am very sorry I made the decision to let her organs be donated using this organization, had I any idea how they operated, I would have never allowed it to happen. Very disappointing and heartbreaking.

About The Living Legacy Foundation of Maryland

The Living Legacy Foundation of Maryland (The LLF) is a non-profit organization that has been serving the state of Maryland since 1993. The foundation is dedicated to saving and enhancing lives through organ and tissue donation. The LLF works tirelessly to promote awareness about the importance of organ donation, provide education on the subject, and facilitate the process for those who wish to donate.

One of the primary goals of The LLF is to increase the number of registered donors in Maryland. Currently, there are over 3 million people in Maryland who are eligible to donate organs and tissues after their death, but only a small percentage have actually registered as donors. This means that many people who could benefit from life-saving transplants are left waiting for an organ that may never come.

To combat this issue, The LLF has launched several initiatives aimed at increasing donor registration rates in Maryland. These initiatives include public education campaigns, community outreach programs, and partnerships with hospitals and healthcare providers throughout the state.

In addition to promoting donor registration, The LLF also provides support services for families who have lost loved ones and are considering organ donation. These services include grief counseling, information about the donation process, and assistance with making arrangements for donation.

Another important aspect of The LLF's work is its commitment to research and innovation in transplantation medicine. Through partnerships with leading medical institutions across the country, The LLF supports cutting-edge research into new techniques for transplant surgery as well as ways to improve patient outcomes after transplantation.

Overall, The Living Legacy Foundation of Maryland plays a vital role in improving healthcare outcomes for residents throughout the state by promoting organ donation awareness and facilitating life-saving transplants. With its focus on education, community outreach programs, support services for families considering donation or grieving loss due to it ,and commitment towards research & innovation; it continues its mission towards saving lives through organ & tissue donations while leaving behind a living legacy!
