Just had my third stay here and it gets better each time. Excellent location within easy walking distance to subway and Times Square. Susan and the staff are so welcoming and helpful. It is like coming home. The continental breakfast is nice as well as the nightly happy hour. A neat way to connect with other guests from around the USA and the World. Will definitely stay here on all future trips to New York.Give the 414 Hotel a try, you won't be disappointed.

Very good location, walking distance to Central Station and the New York Public Library. The deluxe king room on the 10th floor is beautifully decorated, very clean, comfortable and spacious (according to New York standards). The reception suite for all guests on the 2nd floor is great. The bar on the 14th floor is a great place to relax at night. All the staff at the hotel are very polite and do their best to help us solve every need. Value for money, check out the hotel website for special offers before you book.

Place is awesome. Like a museum in some ways more than a library. Even if you don't live here, you should come and visit this place. It's really just awesome and in the middle of Manhattan.

I can't say enough nice things about The Library Hotel! The staff was friendly, thorough and accommodating. The rooms are small (NYC) but well designed, modern and clean with the most comfortable beds! There are books everywhere and they offer a generous continental breakfast with high end pastries, gorgeous fruit, espresso/cappuccinos, juices, etc. The location is perfect, close to Grand Central, the NYC Library, Bryant Park and only a 15-20 min walk to Broadway district/Times Square. They offer validated parking at a garage near by, which helps with the cost if you drive in. Thanks Library Hotel - you helped make our celebration weekend super special!!!

Stopped here for a quick drink. A nice and clean bar with a good barkeep mixing decent cocktails. Nothing really to set it apart, it's good for a quick stop or a quiet place to get away from the GCT crowd.

All we can say is from the moment we step through the door on our many visits John and the staff treat us like family favorites. Great hotel, great location. Walking distance to the the theater district and excellent restaurants.

Rooms have a cute theme, and the hotel is very much a 4 star hotel. The front desk are in suits, etc. But it's a hotel for a specific clientelle, their suggestions are all a bit upscale as well. As for the rooms the book selection was a bit random per theme, and seems to be an after thought, only about 3 small bookshelves and about 4 pieces of art, but still beautiful. Overall if you're looking for a quiet place to sip coffee and read a newspaper before your business meeting it's perfect. If you're a young book lover, who is looking to experience casual New York, and are looking for things such as soda vending machines, Harry Potter, or usb ports you might feel out of place.

Love this themed boutique hotel. All rooms are numbered and named using Dewey Decimals. The wonderful lounge and rooftop bar is named Bookmarks and features literary inspired cocktails.

The hotel executes beautifully on the library theme. It's elegant, fun and comfortable all at the same time. Rooms are nicely furnished, and there are a couple of common areas that work well. Breakfast was a typical hotel-quality continental breakfast - a quick and easy start to the morning but nothing I'd go out of my way for. The staff were all kind and helpful. And the best part is that you can check out with any books you want!

This place was amazing. Truly. The room was well appointed, well cared for and spacious. Something not often found in NYC hotels! The staff was very attentive and very helpful. A very charming smaller hotel in a great location on Madison and really helpful staff. Breakfast modest but sufficient. Wine and cheese afternoon is a nice touch as is the 24 hour refreshments room with drinks and nice nibbles. Cosy bar area on top floor.

Rare to find a hotel in the center of NYC that feels more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel. Housing only 60 total rooms, the hotel's greatest attribute is the second floor reading room which offers an included continental breakfast every morning, snacks/coffee/tea throughout the day, and wine and cheese every night. You simply cannot find a better value in NYC!

Lively, yet not-douchey rooftop where the drinks come stiff with prices to match. Well worth it though. Small plates are tasty too. Most importantly, service is actually good which is tough to find at a bar in Manhattan these days.

Nice space on the second floor open all the time with snacks, water, coffee, and espresso. Turn down service did the small things that were very nice to come back to (closed windows, turned on quiet music, treats). Finishings are very nice and the small rooms use the space very well. Location is great if you're looking for east midtown. I don't have a sigle thing to complain about.

Great hotel with great service. The hotel is centrally located, only a block from Grand Central Terminal. The room was very clean and not too small at all. Better than expected continental breakfast, and with an automatic espresso/latte machine that was accessible at all hours, we saved a fortune on coffee alone. The 3-hour manager's happy hour was also a great benefit, and we were able to take advantage of it on our own time rather than feeling rushed not to miss out on the amenity! The staff was very friendly and eager to serve. We will definitely stay at the Library Hotel the next time we're in NYC.

Location 1 block off 5th Ave at 42nd street, across from the NYC Public Library. The Library Hotel is very cute; the theme is fun but not overdone. The service is excellent. Concierge was humorous and helpful, as was the wait staff siding breakfast and the wine & cheese service. We did not personally meet the cleaning staff (also turndown service). The rooftop terrace was beautiful. I was disappointed to learn that the bar on top is both open to the public (which would've been fine), and operated by a 3rd party. So when we ordered food in to the hotel, we didn't feel we could (though it would've been more informative here if we had pressed our luck) bring "outside food" into a separate food and drink establishment, whereas we felt totally comfortable eating on the 2nd floor in the guests-only common room) where there's always snacks, water, coffee, espresso machine, etc). Would've been nice to eat on the rooftop, but it may have been a blessing in disguise, because the bar allows people to smoke up there, as we'd discovered previously with some cigarette smoke on our right and cigar smoke on our left. The rooftop experience was a little disappointing in these regards, but it is really beautiful up there, and we spent several daylight hours (before bar opening) up there enjoying the view, reading, a little sun on the skin. It was a great hotel experience, and we would definitely go again. The experience overall was wonderful.

clever concept but poor value for the money. room themes and reading room are fun. rooftop bar is wierd -- plastic cups, limited wine selection, loud "w" music. service was inconsistent.

The beautiful weather brought us to the library hotel but we soon realized the space was way too crowded. The concept and bar was nice but be prepared for a wait, with tight areas to walk through, and expensive fancy cocktails.

Centrally located and full of caring staff, the Library Hotel will provide a relaxing home base to any New York trip, whether for business or leisure. The library theme blends seamlessly and provides an engaging atmosphere that will have you turning your head at every juncture. The rooms are comfortable and the amenities provided will leave you wanting for nothing as you enjoy all that the city has to offer. I already want to go back!

New Yorker celebrated out of town sister's birthday with overnight stay. The book shelves in my room were dedicated to performing arts. 200sqare feet not too small for one and felt very comfy and intimate. Service was impeccable. It was magic.

We were visiting the hotel for our honeymoon. The hotel itself and the room were great and the staff were excellent. The complimentary cheese and wine every evening was a nice touch. The roof terrace is also a nice place to chill. Great experience!
