The Labworth Restaurant Review

Was asked when we arrived would you like to have a drink at the bar or be seated at your table . .they took and hung our coats and we had a very well cooked meal served by attentive and knowledgeable staff who were friendly and polite. I was also very impressed with the timing of the courses....they had this spot on .....didn't hurry you but also didn't keep you waiting too long between mains and dessert. The place was spotlessly clean too....would definitely go back.

Overpriced "cafe" and be careful if you pop in for a coffee you have to spend over 10 to use your card, but they don't tell you until you are ready to pay. Rather the trip into Leigh or Southend for better food at a better price where they don't try to make you buy more food by having a minimum credit card amount. Come on Labworth, this is 2020 not 2002, people don't carry cash as much

Had lunch here today 15th March had a wonderful lunch you will certainly not leave here hungry, portions are generous good menu selection beautifully cooked and with quick service. I have eaten in the cafe and the restaurant and both are wonderful you will not be disappointed.

Really enjoy lunches at The Labworth food and choices are always so good. Tha staff are friendly and helpful. The setting overlooking the sea is perfect. Highly recommend a visit here.

Great Food, Great service. Great portions. Have never had a bad meal in there. Is always packed so that shows how good it is. Food is absolutely gorgeous and desserts are wonderful. Very reasonably priced and staff are so welcoming.

A very pleasant evening. Food was nice, and the wine was very good. Great service added to a great night. The hot chocolate fudge cake with butterscotch and honeycomb is well worth a try.

Utterly disgusting and unprofessional.

At a day out on the Island, I have entered their premises asking if I can use their bathroom facility for my daughter, they refused for some odd reason.
They told me only for costumers, so I offered them to buy a drink and have a seat till my daughter comes out, they refused again, saying you can not buy only drinks...
No human, no feelings, no mercy, no nothing.
I will never ever attend this property, and I will make sure everyone knows their behaviour.
People were starring at each other with disbelief.
avoid going into this uneducated place.

The best that Essex has to offer for 5 star food and service, been coming to the Labworth restaurant many years and never been disappointed!!! Excellent set menu, lots of optional area s. Food is amazing and staff are professional and relaxed, giving the restaurant a uniqueness for what s on offer in the local area. Small restaurant with lots of personality, tables seated at 6pm & 8pm daily. Great views of the estuary whilst you eat.

My lunch time cafe visit was very nice. Staff were friendly, my crispy chicken salad was very nice even though a little overpriced. Views were also lovely, and would definitely return.

A clean and tidy restaurant with great food and friendly and helpful staff well worth the visit

Was very disappointed with upstairs restaurant. I have never heard of not having the choice of either potatoes or chip. With every meal you have to have potatoes that comes in a tiny dish of vegetables. My husband & I were shocked at this little dish between the two of us it was very mean. So if you choose to have chips with your steak then you pay extra because everything comes with potatoes & veg. Service was lovely girls very friendly but won't be back.

Food was excellent best steak I've ever had, staff was excellent, didnt pester you one bit would highly recommend, very relaxed apmospher.

First time here - thoroughly enjoyed.my meal and portions very generous. Tables look out over estuary which very relaxing and staff friendly. The only drawback is you cannot book so may have to wait a little while but worth the wait.

Shockingly poor attitude!!! Would not eat here. Tried to dine here at the weekend and the place was not particularly busy. Walked through the door and was directed towards the cafe. Asked for a table for two. I was again directed to the cafe. Hardly many people eating, so I asked another time if there was a table available in the restaurant. I am then reluctantly told I could have one of the tall bar tables near the door, which I said was fine. I go towards the table but get stopped and given a paper menu. I'm told to have a look and to make sure I check the prices!!! Unbelievably dire attitude, so decided to walk out and not spend my money there. I would give a zero star rating if possible!!!

LOVELY piece of fish & chips here and if you're with children, amazing that everything is thought of. Even go plastic plates with sides around them & smaller knives & forks. Spot on service and reasonable prices! Would definitely visit again.

45 year first date anniversary meal at the Labworth.4 corses of Magic.Canvy island sea wall 2deg.rain.50 mph wind.flooded car park.Worth it.

Really excellent home cooked food freshly prepared and served in large portions. Building architect also designed Sydney Opera House but this building is a bit smaller! Excellent location right next to River Thames with great views of passing shipping. Highly recommended.

Very good service and food. I am Coeliac and they were able to cater for me really well including a GF fruit crumble.

Always love visiting The Labworth. Great food, either snack, sandwich or main with a specials board. Lovely views of the estuary. Usually have to wait as it's always busy, but worth the wait.

I had a really nice dinner again. I have been going for years and can't knock the food or the staff. It's what a bistro needs to be.....

Great restaurant (by Ove Arup who designed The Sydney Opera House). Great view and lovely staff. Food is good and not too expensive. Always drop in here when I'm in the area.

Such a lovely welcoming place. Popped in on cold blustery day and had very tasty lunch. Great choice of food. Friendly staff.
