During pandemic we re looking for a charitable organization to donate to for our kids milestone birthday and ended up donating to the INN. The place provides meals for the underprivileged and also accepts volunteers to help out.

About The inn (interfaith nutrition network)

The INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network) is a non-profit organization that has been serving the Long Island community for over 35 years. The organization was founded in 1983 by a group of concerned citizens who recognized the growing problem of hunger and homelessness on Long Island. Since then, The INN has been dedicated to providing food, shelter, and support services to those in need.

The mission of The INN is to address the issues of hunger and homelessness on Long Island by providing for those in need who seek our help. The organization operates soup kitchens, emergency shelters, and supportive housing programs throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties. In addition to providing basic needs such as food and shelter, The INN also offers a range of support services including case management, job training, counseling, and educational programs.

One of the unique aspects of The INN is its interfaith approach. The organization works with over 100 different religious congregations from various faiths including Christian churches, Jewish synagogues, Muslim mosques, Hindu temples among others across Long Island. This interfaith collaboration allows for a diverse group of volunteers to come together with one common goal: helping those in need.

The soup kitchens operated by The INN serve hot meals seven days a week at various locations across Nassau and Suffolk counties. These meals are open to anyone who is hungry regardless of their background or circumstances. In addition to providing nourishing meals for individuals experiencing food insecurity or homelessness; these soup kitchens also provide an opportunity for socialization which can be crucial for individuals experiencing isolation or loneliness.

The emergency shelters operated by The INN provide temporary housing for individuals experiencing homelessness due to various reasons such as eviction or domestic violence situations among others . These shelters offer safe accommodations along with supportive services such as case management which helps residents find permanent housing solutions.

In addition to emergency shelters; supportive housing programs are also offered by the Inn where residents receive long-term affordable housing along with ongoing support services like job training ,counseling etc.. This program aims at helping people transition from homelessness into stable living situations while addressing any underlying issues that may have contributed towards their situation initially .

Apart from these core programs; there are other initiatives run by the Inn like mobile outreach program which provides basic necessities like clothing , hygiene products etc..to people living on streets ; educational programs aimed at teaching life skills like financial literacy , cooking classes etc..and many more .

Overall ,the work done by this non-profit organisation has had significant impact on lives it touches . With its interfaith approach ; it brings together people from all walks of life towards one common goal - making sure no one goes hungry or homeless . If you're looking for ways you can help make difference in your community ; consider volunteering your time or donating resources towards this noble cause!
