From what I understand from a good friend staff is horrible towards kids/adults there this was about a month ago this place needs new staff and to do better with who they staff. Your not supposed to break a spirit and be mean or abusive
Staff that I spoke with has always been kind and courteous.
The programme itself isn't bad, if a bit flawed. The staff are often times petty and abusive of the power they have against the youth due to specific youth behaviour. Beyond that, the programme itself is officially labeled "Transitional Independent Living." Which means that the programme is meant to help youth transition out to living on their own.
This is all well and good except at times, the Inn Home treats youth as if they're toddlers. For instance, all meals are scheduled and nearly all eating between meal times is, depending on the staff, discouraged at best. At worst, youth is talked down upon for asking for food.
Each and every night the program unplugs the WiFi network, unofficially enforcing a bedtime(transitional independent living programme indeed).
Staff often times engage in petty disputes with youth, often ignoring rules while recognising that they're doing so. For example, if one youth is acting out, certain staff attempt to punish particular youth by disconnecting the WiFi (even though it is specifically mentioned that WiFi is not to be used as a punishment against youth), without any heed to other youth who aren't acting out. I reiterate this point because often youth are obligated to complete online school courses and if the internet is unplugged as a punishment to certain youth, regardless of such obligations, school and probational failure can often result. What's more, if certain staff are confronted, they respond that the WiFi will not be reconnected until certain youth decide to comply with their whims.
Overall, the programme itself isn't bad, they provide individual rooms and three meals a day. However, certain things certainly need to be worked out.
