The infusion center next to SAint Agnes Hospital provided Services to me for a short time. As their policy was for all copays to be made at the time of service I kept up on communicating with the billing manager Melisa so to ensure I did not have a outstanding bill. She confirmed at every visit that I did not.
Nearly a year later I received a bill for 180,000.00 I contacted the office and they sendt me a letter indicating that their letter was in error.
Ten months latter I received another notice that I owed them 20,000.00. Again I made contact with them and requested copies of the billing and why I had not been informed at the time of service.
Then they tried to print the billing after a few minutes and they said they could not manipulate the software to print it. A few minutes latter they provided sheets of paper indicating a total billing of 8,000.00 dollars.
I offered to contact my insurance company once I received a copy of the billing to discuss the situation with them. I was informed they would contact me the following day. They did not.
I am now being threatened with a lawsuit for billing I never received and no means to verify with the insurance company what was paid or was not and why. Three years after services and no explanation only a demand.
I left the infusion center a few months after starting there after my neurologist stated the significant bruising on my arms was not necessary. I then received home infusions at the same rate and frequency with the same insurance coverage that my copay was only 60.00 per month until I went onto SSDI.
I have as yet to receive any explanation other than to have Saint Agnes security called on my wife and I while we sat in the reception room awaiting copies of the billing they were trying to print but were unable.
With the notice of being sued I am again making a third attempt to Obtain a copy of the billing so that I may have the opportunity to ask questions of the insurance company.
It is my understanding that when I assign the infusion center the right to bill my insurance company and when the facility accepts my insurance and the terms of my coverage that I as the patients am not involved in there billing war. That I am only responsible for any copay.
This does not seem to be the case with this facility. Notification at the time of service would have been appropriate if I owed them anything. And to be put in a position of the new office manager trying to have us thrown out because I was requesting a copy of the billing to resolve the issue presents itself as nothing less than humiliating for us and unprofessional on the part of the management staff.
