The hotel is beautiful and so are the rooms. All staff was so nice and friendly but a stand out employee was Jordan who worked the valet station. Saw him every day and he always had a smile on his face and offered to help in any way, always asking if we needed anything. Its employees like that that make a great place even better.
Perfect venue!! We held a company business meeting for a few days and it was truly the best experience. The staff was wonderful throughout the entire process, especially Katie and Rado. Both of them ensured our stay was completely taken care of and they went above and beyond to help us. The food was delicious and the whole atmosphere of the hotel (and rooftop bar!) was spectacular! The hotel is also in a great central location, about a 10 min walk from the harbor area, 20 mins. from cliff walk, and walking distance to everything. Highly recommend, I can't wait to go back. Thank you to everyone at Hotel Viking for making our stay perfect!!
Beautiful old hotel built 1920's. Rooms are well appointed and modernized with central AC and WI fi. King suite has 1 1/2 baths and a large living room with a pull out couch. Nice indoor pool, gym and spa. Restaurant on site aw well. Parking is extra, valet only
The location is great! Staff in the hotel are friendly and helpful, Rooms are nice. The valet requirement is terrible. It took over a half hour to park or get your car and my car was blocked in when it finally came. The fact that you have to valet your car and the experience was so bad i do not think i was stay at the hotel again.
If you have never been to Newport before, this is the place to stay! All local bars, restaurants, and stores are within walking distance from the hotel. The hotel staff are accommodating, the rooms are beautiful and the pool is amazing! The front desk even provided us with a map and highlighted all the activities to do in the area since we had never been to Newport. The room is fully stocked with towels, pillows, lotions, shampoo, conditioner and body wash so no need to worry about running out! Definitely recommend staying at Hotel Viking!
The only thing going for this hotel is the wonderful staff. We knew the room would be small but really the phone should work and the wood trim covering the ac unit didn t need to remain broken. (Covid was a good time to fix things up) I understand help is in short supply but for over $400/ night (taxes included) do we really need to ask for fresh towels and the trash to be emptied? (Which still didn t happen)
Good location and again, the outstanding staff(Jordan and Eric at the front desk and Dan in the bar) made the stay most enjoyable.
Way overpriced. This is NOT a luxury hotel. 3 stars at best. Basically a budget hotel disguised with some good marketing and expensive dining attached to it. They have built on to a historic building so most rooms are poor new construction. Probably fine for families and a great location, but if you want nice amenities or room details, this is not the place.
We complained about a smell in the room and the staff did offer a bottle of wine. Overall staff was friendly and helpful, the digs just aren t worth the price.
We didn't stay at the hotel but had lunch. It was disappointing. I ordered a ginger ale with lime ..no lime and the soda was flat. Ordered the lobster sliders ...salad was good but the buns were like rocks ...overheated. fries were good. Maybe it was an off day for the Viking.
Loved the hotel and it's location which is a short walk to all the shopping and restaurants in town. We had a great time at the roof top bar as well listening to live music while having some drinks. The Hotel Viking will definitely become one of our go to places while visiting Newport from here on out!
