The Hitching Company Review

I had a great experience with the Hitching Company. I bought a carriage ride for my parents during their visit to Minneapolis at the holidays. After realizing at the last minute that I accidentally booked the wrong day, I called the Hitching Company and was treated to outstanding customer service. Even though the whole thing was my mistake, they worked with me to move the reservation to another time during my parents' visit at no extra charge! My folks loved the carriage ride, too!

Took my wife on the one hour carriage ride for our anniversary. Had a very nice time. The slow carriage through the busy city was fun. Nice sites. Frank (our horse) was great as was our driver Meghan. Very friendly. Made for a good evening. Thank you for helping make our anniversary memorable in a good way.

We had a one hour trip at 6:30 and our horses name was Marty. Our driver never got down to help us & we had an 82 year old couple with us. We got in the carriage and he didn't introduce himself OR the horse. He never spoke on word during our entire excursion...no history was given, he didn't tell us where we were or where we were going either. There was a person walking near the carriage who was trying to ask about the company because they were interested in booking a ride and the driver wouldn't answer them or even acknowledge them. He took us across the Stone Arch bridge 3 times, never thanked us and I handed him a tip and he let it fall to the ground under the carriage. He didn't even get down to help my elderly mother get out and she tried to pick up the cash he dropped and the carriage began to move forward and he did nothing. A gentleman nearby got her out of the way and helped.

The carriage was all dented up and very rusty and was in overall poor condition. We just moved to Northeast Minneapolis near the Nicollet Island Inn and we will NOT be recommending this company!!

The driver was very personable but we needed to see more views of lights as it was a Christmas family outing
We had fun but it didn't quite hit my expectation of route

This was a fantastic experience. The price was reasonable and our driver was extremely kind and friendly. I will definitely take my girlfriend on another one of these rides.

This is the 4th time in as many years that we've done this tour and now that our girls are older, the family enjoys this family time so much more. Our driver was excellent, connected well with all us and made the trip that much more pleasurable. As long as the tour is going on, we'll be there every year, whether the 30 or 60 minutes tour. Doesn't matter, each has it own charm.

While somewhat a unique experience, it ended up just being a ride vs a tour. Our tour guide didn t talk at all! Not worth the cost in my opinion.

My Valentine's Day Eve date and I had a wonderfully romantic carriage ride along the banks of the Mississippi river before dinner last night. We both LOVED it!

My wife, daughter and I went for a 30 minute ride yesterday, as a part of our Valentine's plans. It was a LOT of fun. Carol (our driver) and King (the horse) were excellent. Carol was very knowledgeable about the area and all things horse, of which my daughter took full advantage and peppered her with questions. All in all, I'd definitely go again!

Wonderful experience carriages where awesome drivers are very respectful and courteous

Very disappointing. The Driver did not speak other than to tell us the Horse's name. He did not greet us, nor offer assistance getting in. It was awkward. The blankets were soaked, and the cover on the carriage leaked. This should have been a great experience, unfortunately it was not.

I booked my experience for the first time during my Birthday last month in September 2020. I loved it a whole lot. I totally recommend it everyone to explore more of the beautiful City of Minneapolis. It s also another way to ride either by yourself, group of friends, family members, meeting new friends for the first time and or even going on a date. I can t wait to book another ride experience soon! Keep continuing to do great work! Go Twin Cities Go!

Took my wife on a 30 minute ride for a date night. Not only was the coachman(owner) a delight to ride with, he informed me of book that was written about the history of nicollet island that mentioned my uncle a few times. Not only would I recommend it, I will be doing it again.

Great time for couples or groups - super friendly staff and a nice spot to grab a drink and good eat at the Inn pre/post ride. Definitely recommend!

Such a special time to share with your loved ones! It would perfect for a romantic date, friends night out or a family ride. It s nostalgic to be on a carriage ride in such a busy city. The sites were beautiful. Our driver was very polite, offered to take our picture. Overall, a must do if you are staying in the Twin Cities!!

My girlfriend and I went on a carriage ride for our anniversary and it was absolutely lovely. Our driver Moe did a great job answering our questions when we had them but just letting us enjoy the sights when we wanted to. Definitely go for the hour long tour, it s soooo worth it.

I got the hour long tour for my wife's birthday and the carriage driver (woman. Sorry I forgot her name) was really nice. The tour was great, relaxing and very enjoyable, despite it being really cold out. The carriages came with two very thick blankets and were pretty warm. Frank the horse was such a sweetheart and was such a champ. I'm sure carrying all of us wasn't easy. Will admit I almost took the horse home lol. Overall it was worth the money and would do it again.

We enjoyed our ride despite the rain. The carriage was covered and we had lots of blankets so we stayed dry. My wife did this tour 8 years ago and wanted to surprise us with it as an early Christmas gift. The only downside was the driver did not do the verbal guided tour of the historic areas that we drove by. Her previous experience had a bigger carriage and full interactive guided tour. Since it was raining we understand that maybe that is why the tour was not given, although before leaving the destination the other driver said she would be giving one, not sure what happened. Overall all 4 of us still had fun and would do it again.

Terrible humans for using animals for entertainment against their will.

Sure, they'll tell you its okay because they "treat them well" but using an animal as a tool is just straight up slavery. And you cant do slavery "well"

They shouldn't forcing animals into busy, loud traffic for novelty transportation.
Its far from natural, and shocking to see something like this still happening in a progressive city like Minneapolis.

I'm ashamed to see it and am embarassed for our city.

Its for all ages I took the wife and both kids (9and19)and they both where smiley .. definitely relaxing and a cool experience and definitely great for a night out and or like I told my son this is a definite winner for say a second date period. We did not eat at the Nicollet Island Inn but definitely might get dressed up and have some dinner and a carriage ride in the summer.. Till then thank you Hitching Post...The Aydts( might even stay overnight)

My niece and I went on a carriage ride on Friday, August 31st at 7 PM. We had the best time! We arrived a bit early and the carriage was already there, waiting for us. Our tour guides were fabulous, well informed about the area and told great stories! I would highly recommend them!!!

P.S. My niece wants to go again next summer :-)

The hour carriage ride was very enjoyable. We learned new things about Minneapolis and the views were great. Dress warm and bring blanket.

We had a great time tonight with Noah being our guide. He shared a bunch of fun facts about the city while enjoying the perfect weather. We highly recommend these rides.

We took our 9 year old granddaughter on the one hour tour. She loved it as did we! It was a great time and the drivers were very engaging! Will do it again!

Two friends and I hired the Hitching Company to provide us with some birthday fun for a horse and carriage ride on Nic Island. It was magnificent! Jen was our hostess/driver. She gave us a verbal tour of the island which was terrific. We are from the area but learned so much new about our own city and the history of St. Anthony and the Island. Jen was pleasant, informative and fun. I would encourage anyone interested in this activity to do it! You won't be disappointed.

Purchase the Mississippi grand tour ride for my girlfriends birthday, it was roughly $130. I had planned this amazing night out around this. The evening was amazing, until we got to this point in the night. I had appointment set for 9pm and got there about fifteen minutes early just to make sure everything was all set to go. I didn't tell my girlfriend what we were doing to have a nice surprise ending to the evening. We got to the pick up location and waited. 9pm rolls around, then 9:10; finally at 9:15. I figured they were running a bit late, no big deal. Well at 9:15 I called them, and got no answer. At this point my girlfriend and I have been standing outside for over a half over waiting standing around looking back and forth down the road. Just to make sure, we waited around till 9:45. Still no one showed up. It wrecked the whole evening after that. It's been almost a week and I still cannot get in contact with anyone regarding this. Or even gotten a call back, i was just looking to reschedule the ride, but at this point I've given up hopes on that too. Tomorrow I'll be going to work (I'm the assistant manager of the bank that i bank with) and setting up a charge back.

This may be a isolated incident for them to not show up, but it ruined my girlfriends birthday evening and the whole image of the company for me.

We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and the company contacted us about our reservation, asking to reschedule due to a illness the horse was suffering. We did, at the date and time They chose. Also because of this rescheduled everything else for the evening as well. Then on the way there they contact us again to tell us that they overbooked and the Only way to retain our reservation was to book a double tour at double the price! Ruined a long standing bucket list item for our anniversary! Very disappointed and Will Not recommend in future to friends and family.

Our host for the evening, was Marty ( the horse of course) . We had a wonderful carriage ride thru Minneapolis along the river .It was a very chilly nuggt but was very comfortable tucked under the blankets provided. We had a wonderful experience.

We used The Hitching Company to provide us with a horse and carriage for our wedding on May 19th 2018. The Hitching Company was very easy to work with and was always willing to help us and answer every question we had. Their services are reasonably priced and they showed up and performed on our wedding day without a single issue. The horse, carriage and driver were all absolutely perfect and beautiful in every way. We would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to add a special extra touch to any special occasion. The Hitching Company was extremely professional and went above and beyond to meet all of our expectations. Thank you!

The experience was amazing! Arthur was such a great tour guide and very friendly. We got to learn history about the city we probably would have never know. Marty, the giant Belgian Draft horse was fantastic as well, he knew the route and would move to the side of the road as often as he could. It was fun to see him operate as a professional as well. I highly recommend this company!

Took my nieces and nephew for a ride and they loved it! My 3 yr old niece said she felt like a princess! Highly recommended for a memorable ride!

Lots of fun for the 4 of us on a beautiful snowy December 26th evening after a meal at Nicollet Island Inn. Thinking of making it a new Christmas season tradition. Dress warm and you'll be fine!

My husband and I reserved a ride for our 9 year anniversary it was very romantic and beautiful I would highly recommend

We have been doing an annual fall carriage ride with another couple for the past six years. Every year it is always great service, on time and just a wonderful experience.
This year we went from the carriage to the Hay Wagon and brought along all our kids. Just a wonderful way to see Minneapolis and enjoy the fall weather.
You will not be disappointed.
