I think this a brilliant thought provoking place to be !! With beautiful surroundings and lots to take in and even has parking which isnt too expensive.
I personally dont think there is enough exhibits there that are going to keep a child interested but thoughout the holidays they have lots of interesting and interactive events on that my kids love to go too and a park they like to play in too and there is the free city bus that goes too so u can always get there and see other things round wakefield when they have done enough at the hepworth

Excellent gallery, highly recommended to anyone in the area with an interest in modern and contemporary art.
The Hepworth showcases some major works of Barbara Hepworth, alongside other key players in British modern art. The space is well thought out with good lighting and positioning of exhibits in a fantastic building.
The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and happy to chat about the exhibits on display.
Lovely cafe and a well stocked shop. No steps to the entrance and lift and stairs for access to first floor. Free entry.

A great museum with interesting objects on display. I was slightly disappointed not to see more from Barbara Hepworth but there were other good things to see. The building is beautiful and the cafe is good.

A lot of people comment on the actual design of the building being a 'concrete block' without actually understanding or noticing the art behind it. As the sun moves it casts linear shadows on the building almost making it more dynamic and it kind of shows what you will find on the inside - lots of art based on light and shadow. Inside The Hepworth you will find a nice cafe selling okay coffee and nice cakes, several galleries and a interior design that continues through every room. The art is stunning and the displays showing you the process from initial idea to the final sculpture is a nice touch. There as often events on for families and they are always trying to encourage children to be artistic. It is the sort of place that would be a nice afternoon out but you couldn't spend a whole day there.

Great creative activities to keep children entertained when we visited with some nice interactive exhibitions (though these could vary). There are tables inside for picnics as well as a good cafe and an outdoor play area allows them to burn off some pent up energy. Parking convenient, but at cost... But entrance to Hepworth free!

A very small, modern museum that tries really hard to be engaging, held back by the fact its full of the sort of art that doesn't really have mass appeal. Too much abstract art. Either you love a bunch of big paint splats and lumpy More

The gallery was smaller than I expected but still really nice to walk around. The cafe was amazing with great quality food! Homemade beans on toast with pesto was hands down the best beans on toast I ve ever had, and the sausage sandwich couldn t have had any more sausage in! Super tasty all round. Thanks Hepworth

I guess you can recommend to those who like art. For those insensitive to artistic sensations, it will be boring. Which I confirm from my autopsy. However, the area around the gallery is very interesting and this is definitely worth seeing. The entrance to the gallery is "what a grace." The gallery is also good for the English playground.

Open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10am – 5pm (closed on Mondays), The Hepworth Wakefield offers visitors a chance to explore its vast collection of artworks that span across various mediums such as sculpture, painting, photography and more. With entry fees starting at just £12 per person (with discounts available for members, Wakefield District residents and under 18s), it's an affordable way to experience world-class art.

Inside, visitors can explore over ten exhibition spaces spread across two floors.

The museum's permanent collection includes works by renowned artists such as Barbara Hepworth (after whom the museum was named), Henry Moore and Antony Gormley. In addition to these established names in modern British sculpture, there are also works by emerging artists on display throughout the year.

Aside from its permanent collection, The Hepworth Wakefield also hosts temporary exhibitions throughout the year which showcase works by both local and international artists. These exhibitions often focus on specific themes or movements within contemporary art which makes them particularly interesting for those who want to learn more about current trends in artistic expression.

For those who want a deeper understanding of what they're seeing during their visit, The Hepworth Wakefield offers guided tours led by knowledgeable staff members who can provide insights into individual artworks as well as broader themes within contemporary art history.

In addition to its galleries and exhibitions spaces, The Hepworth Wakefield also has a café serving delicious food made with locally sourced ingredients. There's also a shop where visitors can purchase books about modern and contemporary art as well as unique gifts inspired by some of the artworks on display.

Overall, if you're looking for an immersive cultural experience that will leave you feeling inspired and enlightened then look no further than The Hepworth Wakefield.
