A great tiki bar with a speakeasy style entrance through the poke shop refrigerator. The mixed drinks are simply phenomenal, and while pricey at 12 to 16 each, contain ample alcohol to make it worth it.

Cool vibe..great service..drinks more fu fu than alcoholic. Limited menu in some regards. Korean wings, very good, spicey tuna roll, OK, rice bowl OK..paid $65 for 2 and that was at HH prices..would come a couple times more..with others who might want to try it..

The Grass Skirt has a beautiful Palm Springs, midcentury, tiki vibe. I love the secret entrance and that our visit was couple with trying to find the way in with some strangers. Seeing the Poke shop next door was a fantastic thematic element to the whole experience. The bar is spooky sexy and perfect for a tiki date night. I think some of the drinks were fantastic and others not quite worth the cost (that Clarified Painkiller was a good idea but the taste didn t justify the $20 price tag). Our favorites were the Aloha Beaches, the Mai Tai, and the Oaxacan Dead. We accidentally showed up on a trivia night but it turned out to be so fun! The bartenders were helpful when asked specifically but they could have been more service minded and more attentive. They might have been overloaded (they maybe needed another behind the bar on trivia night). Would definitely recommend and would certainly go again!

Friendly staff, the right amount of busy. The secret entrance is pretty cool and quite unexpected. Inside, the decorations look great and theirs a surprise every hour or so when the music changes.

Great drinks, decor, and food! Drinks and food are a bit pricey, but good deals at happy hour. One of the best Mai Tais I've ever had. Service was good for most of the meal, but it took a while to get our bill, and more time to get it back after paying.

Drinks were very good, and lots of fun. Food was ok. My tuna hand roll had mushed tuna in it, which seemed odd, but tasted ok. I wouldn t get it again. Service could have been better, since we had to get up several times to ask for things, no one ever asked if we wanted another round. Still giving it 4 stars, because of the fun atmosphere, and really good drinks. I would recommend checking it out. They need to focus on improving the service.

Visited for drinks on a Saturday night. The place is very unique. If you can't find the entrance, make sure to check out the poke place next door...

The drinks were a bit expensive (~$11-15) but they are tropical mixtures involving fresh fruit and blending.

Alohaaaa so this is super fun speakeasy tiki style bar in Pacific Beach! We started out by having poke bowls at @goodtimepoke (the vegetarian poke bowl I had was incredibly flavorful ) As we ate we watched people in Hawaiian shirts wandering around trying to figure out where the entrance was to @thegrassskirtsd (which we got a bit of a kick out of ) The truth is, the entrance to the Grass Skirt is the big metal freezer door in Good Time Poke! So once we finished our food we joined the party in The Grass Skirt for some fun cocktails 10/10 would recommend

Cool decorations and use of space.

Super nice place but way more frat-tastic than I was hoping and expecting. Then again, I'm probably not their target guest. So if you're in the over 30 crowd, maybe not your scene. In your 20s, you'll probably love it all.

Aside from the crowd, drinks and service were both amazing and the food I saw looked incredible.

Don't be discouraged when you can't find the door! The secret entrance is great fun, and everything inside is amazing, from decor to truly splendid drinks. Don't miss this fabulous tiki bar. We didn't eat there but the menu looks great. I can't wait to go again!

Hit both local (to SD) tiki spots tonight. False Idol in downtown had a better ambiance and a more personable staff. The Grass Skirt has better cocktails, is much bigger and will likely be more accommodating for groups. I would absolutely recommend both locations in a heartbeat. What you're looking for specifically would determine which I would recommend more.

Great selection of island inspired cocktails. Our group had over 20 drinks and we liked everything we tried. Personal favorites were The Cheat Sheet and the We Owe It All to the Guavas. Pork Belly bao buns melted in my mouth. The fries was delicious. The chocolate bento box was a must try if you like dessert. Atmosphere was fun but not too overwhelming. Will definitely go back.

LOVE this place! Great date night or celebration spot! They have such a variety of tropical drinks and southeast Asian inspired foods that are all sooo delicious! Their exotic tiki theme is on point and the little music light shows that they do every hour are super entertaining. Highly recommend ordering the Tenderbelly Pork & Shrimp Wontons pupu and the Painkiller cocktail!

Definitely one of my favorite tiki bars in town. It took a little while for us to actually get in, but once inside, it was fantastic. Reservations aren't strictly necessary but highly recommended if you want a table... we were happy at the bar, and the bartender was happy to chat with us from time to time.

A fun experience of tiki cultures with an American twist. Brace yourself for the drums and fire that goes off at random intervals. The food was amazing but the cocktails are what the Grass Skirt specializes in. They lost one star because I reserved a private table but was given a community table. I was told I would be moved when a private table became open but they never came back to do so and I saw new patrons take the newly opened tables instead.

Amazing tiki drinks, great staff, delicious food, bitchin tiki decor. This is the perfect place to go with a date or a group of friends. Indoor space flows into outdoor space, each nook is interesting and visually stimulating, and the overall experience is very impressive. I highly recommend this spot
