Well... it was open on a Monday afternoon in the rain after a long hike in the woods. The food was average roadside diner right down to the advertising placements. However the beer was cold and the soup was very good. Below average on the sausage, peppers and onions sandwich. Service was average. If you are into bobbleheads (I am not) this is your place. Hundreds of them above the bar.

Had one of the best fish fry s ever here! We went after an afternoon of hiking the Taughannock Falls trails. It was late and we were all starving. The hostess asked if downstairs would be OK. Having never been there, and not wanting to wait, we agreed. The downstairs basically reminded me of a church basement or a fire hall- rows of long, rectangular tables with folding chairs. It was very unusual for a restaurant (hence the 4 stars). However, the service was good, the food arrived quickly and everyone liked what they got

What a great little stop on the way up the lake. Was very busy, and still food came out hot and yummy! When we walked across the parking lot, I said to my husband I wish we could sit on the patio (it's winter so no go), but they seated us downstairs which has the same view of the lake, just inside! Yay!

It's a bar that serves great food. Stopped here for dinner after the long drive down the lake and was not disappointed. The fireplace in the dining room and the window looking out on the snow made for a great evening.
Get the burgers. Decent beer selection and beautiful views.
This place is a gem, they have a wide variety of food for all tastes, their burgers are great but I always go for their Tuna steak, popcorn shrimp or pork chops. They always have a nice selection of beers on tap and other drinks. I'mean also told their Bloody Mary is amazing.
Their owners and staff are always great and friendly and the building has such a great character.
One more thing, their views, views, views. A must if you're visiting Ithaca

Last time I was here it smelled like dirty mop water and sweat. Dank level over 9000. I walked out faster than the door could close.

The best restaurant in the Ithaca area! Delicious food, very friendly and quick service, excellant prices. I always get the fish fry with coleslaw and salad, and Kentucky Derby pie for dessert.

The place is cozy and the soups are really great. The main dishes are disappointing. The steak came with a very unpleasant and really charred burn. Whoever made the dish does not understand grilled. The chicken dish was not tasty either. Very sucks compared to the seafood soup that was crushed !!!
I have visited this establishment after seeing it in an YouTube video but was thoroughly disappointed at the quality of the food. There prices were extremely good but the food lacked quality.
We went an hour out our way on a road trip to try this place because my friend saw it referenced on a crappy tv show (designated survivor). The burger was good enoigh to deserve a mention on a much, much better show. God I hated that show.

Atmosphere was really nice. I heard WONDERFUL things, even on TV shows (all my Designated Survivor fan, that pines burger that's referenced). Naturally I ordered a bacon cheese burger, no veggies, side of onion rings. Now my burger was about the size of my palm and thin, I wasnt impressed with it. The bread was HUGE in comparison. Sides were separate and I felt expensive for the portion I got, but my onion rings were very good. The "pines chips" came in a heaping amount with a Reuben, it was an interesting take they had on the sandwhich, but was scarfed down, and the (I believe) fried, after baked, potato slices were amazing. Service was mediocre

We went there because we heard the burgers were the best in Ithaca. They were awful. Super greasy, on bread from the Ithaca bakery which was more like a sub roll. I asked for some cut up carrots or cucumber on the side for a healthy alternative to fries and they could not accommodate that. My child's spaghetti was over don end the sauce and meatballs were gross. I couldn't wait to get out of there. Disgusting!
Heard of this place when it was advertised on a boat tour as the best burger on Finger Lakes. Medium well burger was served burned. Since it was impossible to eat asked for the medium that came out also burned. Would not spend 15 minutes driving from Ithaca to this place.
Great service, great food... great rice pudding, carmel cheesecake and especially maple apple pie too! Good prices! Also, it's on the lake!

It's fine food. I didn't think the burger was great, nor the fish. I would not come back but can understand why someone would - probably be a lot better as drinking food.
This place is just awesome. The burgers are amazing...every single time. I have never left hungry. It s a very cool, almost camp like vibe in here. Authentic, genuine, friendly.
Asked about vegan options and the staff were very rude! Would not recommend going here if you have any dietary restrictions!

Fast service... delicious bloody Mary with 2 shots and just the right amount of horseradish. The house burger is amazingly fresh and served on a soft french bread. Also ordered the fried mushrooms, any fried food is always good. My husby ordered the Cornell chicken sandwich, it was moist and delicious. For dessert, gotta go with the house made rice pudding....this reminded me of the local diner I grew up with....sweet, great rice texture, excellent sweet finish to a great simple meal.

If you love char broiled burgers and haven't had a Pinesburger, you should. I've been a regular at the pines for about 10 years and the company I work for goes there for employee birthdays and special occasions.
My group loved lunch here. Burgers and fries were great and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere!
We love the Pines. Been going for years. One of our favorite places to eat bar none. The Pinesburger is a must and the fish fry is the best around.

I've driven by many times on my way to Ithaca, but never stopped. Dropped in recently on a trip to Taughannock Falls with family, great experience. Our waitress was very friendly, the food was served in a timely manner (to 4 people), and it tasted great (enjoyed a Pinesburger). I'll be sure to visit again.
