Agree with other customers. Terrible customer service. Quick to take my money. They don't respond to emails and they simply do not care. Avoid this company.
Great local company that sells WHOLESALE to large box stores across the United States. A lot of great people work here that I've had the pleasure to meet and work with over the years as one of their CPAs. There is a small clearance sale at times during the year to clear out samples and discontinued items at steeply discounted prices (I recently bought a great looking 9 foot, prelit tree for $88 while the same one was on sale at a department store for $575). These sales are first-come, first-serve, and are final (no returns) because the point is to clear it all out.
As one reviewer mentioned, they did acquire the former Sterling Company, but as that company was not ultimately successful, it would appear their business model of selling a large quantity of items through their warehouse sale was not effective. Hence, Gerson's warehouse sale does not offer a huge amount of merchandise. I will say they had probably 50+ different trees on display, ornament packs, LED string lights, and lots of other neat decorative items available. Prices are far cheaper than anywhere else, so you may find what you're looking for and save some hundreds.
I love the Motion Flame candles. While vacationing in Florida, we purchased 3 packages ($89.85). When we returned home in Illinois we learned one of the candles is defective. I called Gerson Companies to find out how to get it replaced. They will not replace the defective candle & suggested returning it to the store where it was purchased. Sadly, that store is 1280 miles away. How is this issue the store's responsibility when the candle is obviously defective? VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!
I love the acanthus leaf collection, but as much as it cost you would think there would be some type of quality control to ensure that all of the products in a set actually match in color. I bought the same item twice thinking maybe the color was just off on the 1st one.
Disappointed! Can I get an oil and vinegar set to match everything else?
We didn t know what to expect when going to this warehouse sale. It was easy to find do to the signs leading you to the back of their building. Items were spread out with a lot of repeat inventory so I didn t see the urgency to rush in or crowd the doors like people were. There was a lot of season items and a decent selection. A lot of little items and the big ticket seemed to of had a big ticket price. Christmas trees were going for a few hundred dollars, just like Walmart or Target. We didn t go for Christmas trees, just an observation. Now, if you were looking to go all out and find some pretty neat unique items for Christmas, then they had some items. A really cool metal train for the yard had a $1500 price tag. Some items were things you may even find in a boutique, but they were far and fe between. There were also a few items that were cheaper there than advertised on Amazon. We spent about 20 minutes there and walked out empty handed. We had one item that retailed for $8.00 and they were selling it for $2.00. It wasn t worth out time to pull out the debit card for. If you had a small store where you could resales, you could make a few bucks.
This past weekend we had a cute baby shower. I ordered the attached lanterns off of Amazon on Monday, March 5th. I ordered 2 black and 2 red (it was a camping themed baby shower). We received our order on Wednesday, March 7th and to my surprise we received 4 black lanterns. I called Amazon and they informed me that they would fix the problem and send us 2 red lanterns, like we ordered, and we would just need to send back 2 of the black ones. The red lanterns were scheduled to arrive Friday, March 9th. They arrived and to my surprise, again, we received 2 black lanterns. I called amazon to see what in the world was going on. They of course apologized for the second screw up and said that we would just need to return both sets of black lanterns. So now I m only down to the 2 original black lanterns and no red lanterns.
After reviewing the box further, the white box that the lanterns come in is actually labeled RED .... but they have BLACK lanterns inside. Digging a little further into the packaging I came across the manufacture... which is the lovely Gerson Company....
It s pretty pathetic that your company cannot differentiate between the colors red and black. It s also just sad that your company is just too damn lazy to do its jobs properly.
I know you re a bigger company and you could not care less about your customers (considering you re so careless with your own products), but it s not complicated to do a job correctly nor is it complicated to have employees that are competent enough to do a job correctly.
Also, I will review this product on Amazon so other individuals will know not to order it, as it s very clear your company is not capable of making sure something as simple as the correct color of a lantern is in the proper packaging/box.
In my opinion this is a very unprofessional place. During my time there was disrespected by managers one particular named Bruce Hunt who i would even say is borderline a racist. Again also by a woman named Donna Vilinsky the Director of customers experience who I would throw in the same boat as Bruce as a racist. I would not recommend anyone working in the terrible conditions and treatment this place offers
Began shopping with this company when they were in Mission ion a little warehouse.have followed them ever since. Followed at Grandview Mo,Sterling Prices have risen as I am sure products are caused.
the problem I find is that prices are varied for same merchandise. There needs to be better consistency.
I know your inventory and employees are massive. I do appreciate your location and your sales. Tootie Mahoney
Since I can't give zero stars, I have to select at least one. Understand this, it gets zero stars across the board!!
This is directed mainly at their so-called Christmas Warehouse Sale. This company bought out Sterling Inc. because had the not, they would have gone out of business. It would have been better had that happen because this company destroyed Sterling Inc. Sterling was the company that originally had the big warehouse sale out in Grandview than later at the airbase in Belton. It was the best Christmas sales around. People came from three states away. It was clean organized and had the best Christmas merchandise you couldn't find anywhere. And the prices were far cheaper, even Walmart couldn't compete. I have pictures of the old Grandview warehouse but I can't post them here.
I posted this review on their Facebook page.
"DO NOT GO!! A waste of time. If you think this place is more then one star, you are completely brainwashed!! I was expecting something similar to Sterling Inc. setup at their previous location but it was no where near the same. It looked like junk yard garage sale. A few tables with stuff randomly set on them. In some areas they had sheets covering stacks of pallets they were using as tables. No organization and poor lighting. I only saw 1/3rd of the Sterling items. I was totally unimpressed and thoroughly disappointed. Drove 40 minutes hoping to see something similar to what Sterling had out at their previous location put it was an absolute joke. Some of you may think different but I thought it was worthless.
The worst part of all, out of the countless garage doors, not one was set up for a ramp like the one at the previous location. The friend that came with me was in a wheel chair and could not go inside. The person I talked to had no idea what to do and had the audacity to ask if we could lift him up the staircase. I was so furious I just left.
Out of the kindness of your hearts, you help Sterling Inc buy offering to take over their company. They would still make the product but you'd help sell them. However, you would only sell them your way and only a few items. Nothing Sterling could do about it since they were near financial ruin so they just except it and move on. That is total crap in my book!! You should be ashamed of yourselves. Took a good company and basically crapped all over them."
Everything I have ever had shipped from them arrived BROKEN-- terrible
