The Extension Factory Review

Sent an enquiry to find out more about their process, pricing etc to complete an extension on my home. Got a call back the next day which was great. The lady booked an appointment for someone to come out and chat to us 3-4 weeks later. I asked for a call a day or so before to remind me of the appointment as I'm a busy business owner.

Got a call this morning from Scott Murdoch telling me he's outside my house and we had an appointment. I explained I asked for a call before hand to reconfirm as I'm busy and my schedule always changes and I was sorry I wasn't home. He comes back at me with I called you at 9.30 but you didn't answer. When I tried to explain that's not what i meant by reconfirming, he cuts me off and rudely asks Don't you have a diary!?

He then goes on to abruptly tell me the appointment was with myself and my wife and then asked in the most rude manner, Where's your wife then?!

Seriously unprofessional.

Been working on and off as a contractor with extension factory for almost a decade. Great communication all round from the head office to your project manager. All trades are expected to deliver a high standard, Project manager frequently inspect works to guarantee compliance and standards. Never had any issues with payment unlike a lot of other companies in the industry. All job sites I have worked on the client are always happy with the service they're receiving.

Would recommend to any job seekers or people looking to renovate.

It is interesting to see these guys using their own contractors and community organisations they support to bump up their star rating.
The reviews from their customers tell a different story, one that from what I have seen, is an indication of how they operate, 1 star is generous.
They built the second floor too high and had to have the floor structure redesigned to make the stairs comply. They neglected to get the frame inspected by the building surveyor before cladding and plastering and were lucky that my partner had taken photos of the frame that the building surveyor could use to approve the build. The flow of work was mostly spasmodic with little to no continuity. The quality was low end and it is obvious why they leave the painting to others as you don't see how bad the plastering is until the paint goes on.
I know they will say my name did not come up in their database as the house is my partner's. I am just about to commence an extension/renovation and guess who I won't be using.

I have and currently been a plumbing/ roof plumbing contractor for the Extension Factory for the past 26 years. Social media and leaving reviews on various things we do now a days has become the new way of recommending or not someone , and how a bad review can effect restaurants tours on holidays & hotels we stay at due to some people not happy with service. Same can go for the building Industry also , It is why I think its important for me to give an honest review as a tradesmen running my own business , Being able to count on my fortnight payment without any issues for 26 years now. Prior to commencing any job I negotiate any price issues if need be so myself and the builder are happy with the price and there is then no problem being paid once invoices go in. I would have no problem recommending any trade to work for the extension factory.
As far as recommending any future clients wanting an extension and renovating done through the extension factory , I also have no problem recommending them . I believe what you sign up for is what you get delivered over the years there has been a couple of issues with some damage due to bad weather mainly on upper extensions . Which always gets rectified. I also over the years have seen some people that called themselves tradesmen that should not be on a building site which doesn't take long for a project manager to work out , There has been some project managers also that haven't been up to scratch which also doesn't take long to work out. This is not just limited to the extension factory its across the whole building industry.
In a whole as far as a future client and or tradesmen , I highly recommend the Extension Factory and have enjoyed and hope to enjoy many more years with them.
