The Epic Hotel - The River Lounge Review

First time here and must say that I was impressed by the room even though they need to have more outlets. A big plus is that this place has four super fast elevators which meant it was no problem getting up and down from the higher floors!

No hot water (even after it was "fixed"). Key cards don't work in the elevator. Not happy.

BE CAREFUL! I got robbed at this hotel. Add to that the front desk manager who was not responsive when I reached out to him. Have to say it, I had a bad experience!

I would recommend it because of the breakfast and because there are unfortunately worse hotels for the higher price in Kimpton EPIC Hotel. You will not feel cheated, but a bit of Italian interior decoration charm could not do any harm.

Was an epic time at epic29! Rooms and service were outstanding. A lot of attention to detail. I've stayed At a number of downtown Miami hotels and this one is great. Both Kevin and Rosie were very friendly, accommodating and effective with their job of making sure the stay goes perfect. Highly recommend.

Went for happy hour on a Friday. Decent drink prices, good music, good crowd. And always, an amazing view.

Valet was terrible, took over 20 mins to get my car back.

Great Customer Service! Unfortunately we had a family emergency and we're not able to make the trip but Kimpton was very understanding and issued a full refund. Unlike other hotels who might insist on keeping our deposit we we're very thankful they didn't give us a hard time. We will definitely be staying here next time we're in Miami! Thank you so much! Highly Recommend.

Check in was at 4 and they didn t have our room ready until 5. Ridiculous. A courtesy call would have been nice since we re traveling all the way from Palm Beach. They only offer valet parking & they tell you to text the valet when you re ready for your car if you want your vehicle in a timely matter. After waiting half an hour for our car we decided to check with the valet guys to see what the issue was & we were told that their text messaging system isn t working. I m confused as to why this hotel has such high ratings. I ve only been here for 3 hours and I m already disappointed. I definitely wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone who would like to ENJOY their stay in Miami.

It's a epic hotel. No denying that. Overnight parking is $42 which is kinda expensive. Every item in the minibar is extremely overpriced. View is amazing and compensates for all that

The room was fantastic, every amenity I expected and more. A beautiful hotel. The staff was wonderful.
I especially enjoyed the roof bar and pool.

There was obvious mildew in the shower and outside construction went on the entire stay even at midnight. Save some time and money and book elsewhere. I probably won't stay again due to the interaction with the front desk at check in. Snobs are out in 2019. Be nice its goes a long way..

Nice place, nice view but way overpriced. Simple breakfast for 2 was over $75.

High pressure from the valet, over priced and maintenance issues! There was black mold in the corners of the shower, the bathroom countertops were cracked, one of the sinks had poor water pressure, the pool area was not maintained and they stock the fridge and desk with over priced items. Walk a block and get the same items for a lot less money! I was very disappointed!

Very nice hotel! Was a quick trip, so didn't get to use many amenities, but the breakfast was great! Bloody Mary was a bit bland, however. Donovan at the front desk was top-notch and very polite.

This is a beautiful hotel right on the bay. They are undergoing renovations at the moment but it has not diminished our experience one bit. The rooms are unusually spacious for a downtown hotel, and the bathrooms are gorgeous! They have complimentary coffee downstairs in the morning and a wine happy hour every day for hotel guests. This was the perfect place to stay before our cruise!

Luca was the absolute best. The staff was amazing the water view was great. It is in downtown Miami so a little loud but nothing to bad. Location is GREAT. The reason I took a star away is bc my comforter was dirty BUT I requested another one and it came right away and the parking omg $44 a day

Area 31 restaurant. Great service. Great views (outdoor on the 16th floor.) Great music in the background. Food tastes great. Little pricey but what you should expect for an overall nice evening.

Capacity/Resource allocation:

How come you have only one person "managing" valet's crew .. who, by the way, was far more busy worrying about his looks,, than anything else, yet I witnessed 4 people standing around, watching one person put new frames on one of the pool doors.

Employee's sense of belonging (Obvious discontent):

Employees were openly critizing management desisions and very upset about these, to be fair, they still went out of their way to comply with requests with a smile on their face, but It definitely shows a lack of leadership, or at the very least a failure to communicate the rationale behind directions.

Efficiency:

Even a six sigma amateur would have had a field day on this place with so much that can be improved upon! Let alone a green belt or god forbid a black belt.

Amenities:

Guest Pool: Open on Saturday and Sunday only!?!?

Food (Cuban Sandwich): Wasn't the worst. (closer to mediocre in all honesty) unless you brought the sandwich by chopter, from Cuba, a 47 minute wait is an insult, considering the price, and the aforementioned taste.

Bar: Knowledgeable, good people skills, and service, but multi tasking can definitely use some improvement/ Very limited liquor variety does not match clientele target.

Surcharges:
the hotel needs to either charge more upfront or reduce all the surcharges, as in, drastically! It is ridiculous that you get a $50 hold for a charger "wire" .. not even the whole thing.. yeah you have the usb's in the room, but they take 2 hours to fully charge the phone (That's when you charge it while turned off) whereas a fast charger takes maybe 35 minutes. No to mention that a $50 hold for something you can buy a block away in CVS for $2.99 is just absurd, oh, and, they didn't even have the Galaxy S8 charger (USB C) the one I was offered was for Galaxy S7 and below.

Toothbrush and toothpaste where like they were just shipped from county jail.. The vallet charge is ridiculous considering that it takes forever to get your car, there is mass confusion amongst the staff as they are clearly under capacity. And there is a parking lot a block or so away that charges around $5

Oh, I guess .. to be fair, the gym is really good!

In conclusion, this was an EPIC fail (pun intended) you won't be seeing me again.

Super nice hotel! I needed random things like safety pins and scissors and they were able to accommodate. The staff was very nice. Just don t order room service at peak times bc the wait reaches up to a few hrs! But they gave me the food complimentary so it made up for it! Overall I enjoyed my stay

Great stay and great views. Very clean and organized place. Everyone working there was extremely nice. Even though it was just for a night stay, I ve had no issues whatsoever.

If you call something EPIC it probably should be. But overall, this is a good hotel. Checked in early without an issue. They text you with a number you can text for service. Really good option. Rooms are nice but the design is a little funky and the beds are a little soft. Didn't love being woken up at almost 7 on a Saturday by hotel work crews with power tools.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was luxurious, especially the bathroom. Highly recommended.

The reason why I decided to visit this hotel for the second time is because my husband and I had a blast 7 years ago! The hotel had nice pools with DJ , drinks , excellent towels service and delicious food by the pool, it even had a small night club to seat and enjoy a few drinks as well as music! I had so many hotels options in downtown Miami , that I don t know how come we decided to stay again in the Epic !! and OMG what a waist of money and time and everything! Super dated hotel, the pools are a total disaster, no drinks to enjoy enywhere , Carpets are old, the lobby has a few old sofas with lots of stains! Cracked floors, unpainted base boards... and you name it! Everything is unpainted! They should close the hotel and reopen once is renovated! I guess the 4 stars reviews is from previous years, or people who don t stay as often in nice hotels!!!!! Extremely disappointed

This was the best place i stayed at in miami i enjoyed my stay. The staff was amazing and the food was great i will be staying here again.

Zuma is Zuma, despite NYC or Miami- very classy, very tasty and quiet pricey yet very well worth it! Advanced reservations recommended.

Perfect stay at the Epic Hotel, very comfortable and great rooms, staff is extremely nice and professional. The pool area is very cozy and nice during the day and transforms a bit during the happy hour and evening, then it becomes quite a "party" place. Would definitely recommend.

This hotel was near to the city proper and we always stay here whenever we want special bondings with the family. Their staffs were very friendly, accommodating and hospitable. The hotel itself, the restaurant and their rooms were very clean and comfortable. We love every time we are here! Thanks, guys!

Extremely clean and had a nice view of downtown. There was a lot of great art located all around the hotel which brightened up the place. The staff were warm and welcoming. The breakfast had a nice variety.

Nice hotel overall but we were in a room communicating with another door. The problem is that this door was very poorly soundproofed. In addition the hotel parking was quite expensive: 42 .

Very nice location and building. Valet and overall service is awful. Unless you knew someone you don't get recognized or treated with respect.

Annual company meeting wonderful place wonderful staff amazing venue

We were so excited to come at the beautiful hotel for our vocation, but ones we are check in first of all they checked in us at the dirty room , so I called to reception the guy was nice and he changed the room brings to us keys we moved to another room. In this room refrigerator is not working that the first. And At 8:32am started construction working right on top of ours had I guess room 2502. And no one in the hotel didn t answer on my calls. What do u think should I do? Can t sleep now

The Kimpton was a great place to stay, we were upgraded to a water view room since it was our honeymoon! Great location too within walking distance to Bayside

Very nice hotel did not stay in a room only visited the place. The main entrance lobby was very elegant the elevator was clean the bar was nice and the outside pool was so nice with great views of Miami.

Excellent stay, very comfortable, rooms with balconies (the views of the sea are better than the city). They offer a breakfast with a varied buffet. Very good location in downtown.

I went to the Area 31 lounge and I was able to enjoy myself and my guest outside. The vibe was chilled, the music was just right where you're not yelling to talk to the other person. Down side to the hotel is parking. Valet takes a while.

Hotel is great and have been here many times. The valet parking is terrible and lost my car temporarily. Had to wait more than 45 minutes. Normal wait times are 25+ as per head valet manger.

Absolutely loved Epic! Great staff and you meet other great people during your stay.

Nice hotel, great location! Only issue is that the room to room noise is bad : ( I get that you're in the middle of everything so expect city road noise but that really wasn't bad, the problem is you can hear the people in room next door and not just if they're being super loud but rather just like regular conversations...

Beautiful, excellent service from all the workers especially William 100% recommended, they will have the best time. Without words, I hope to return.
