Great theatre. I wish they would at least attempt to enforce the no cellphone recording and picture taking rules though - it s really a bummer to have the person next to you or in front of you have their glowing cell phone out, sometimes for several minutes to take video. Enjoy the moment already.

Tried ordering tickers online for a comedy show but the system wouldnt let me pick any tickets. My mom tried also and couldnt buy any online. I tried calling the theater and no one answered. We showed up the minute the doors opened to find out somehow the whole place was apparently sold out for 2 seats together. Which is amazing since we couldnt buy tickets online even 2 weeks before the show. Very disappointed.

Also very small drink selection

This historic theatre is one of Iowa's treasures. The staff was beyond professional and helpful. Chapo was amazing loved the show. Oh yeah, the smoke detectors are very sensitive apparently even vaping can be detected we were told so don't be that guy. Solidarity forever, much love, #Bernie2020!

Great time with the family. We love this old theater. Been going to this place for many years. I have seen it change over the years. Aprox 26 years ago I went to a nightmare before Christmas at this theater. And Tonight I took the kids to see santa and some local talent.

LOVED IT! Great performances and the sound tech clearly knows his stuff! You can tell he stores all his sound information in that bulbous head of his quite well. Very impressed, highly recommended. The bathroom sanitary procedure MUST be top knotch - orally tested each seat, in both bathrooms, didn't get sick! Really progressive, it's an integrated theatre, which is a huge step for Iowa! Kudos! Let it be the shining beacon of the theatre community, representative of all that is good, holy, and thespian, in this, the American live musical performance arts culture. Yeah boi.

Sometimes I buy a ticket late and think my seat is gonna be so so, but then I remember, every seat is a good seat. I saw Nick Lowe tonight, with the Los Lonely Boys backing. What the hell, man? This might have been one of the best shows I've ever seen. And I have seen a lot of shows. Oh, and the staff is awesome too. Thank you. I had a really good time.

I went to the Englert Theatre for the first time last night to see one of my favorite bands, Beach House. The venue was very nice, with easy access to refreshments and bathroom facilities. The place was clean well maintained from what I saw. The only real downside was the security. There was a man, probably in his mid 60's running around the section I was sitting in warning & yelling at points about people using their cellphones. He was so very much more distracting from the entertainment that I was there to enjoy than the kids snapping a quick pick to capture a moment. I can understand the policy being in place for a play or classical performance, but at a rock show with fog machines & bright stage lights, a few folks taking a few pictures should not be an issue. In summary, next time a band I dig is playing the Englert, I'll try to catch them in Omaha.

In the seating behind sound or lighting guy in the balcony section you can't see but half the stage and none of the orchestra. What I could see was the booth guys giant head rolling around blocking the stage as he slid back and forth across More

Cute theater. We had balcony tickets. We went on a mild summer day and the theater had a noticable musty or damp smell to it. Didn't feel like any AC was used on my night was a little warm by the end of the concert.

Englert completes the Iowa City arts scene. Being a townie, I remember it back when it was a movie theater. Now, we enjoy seeing live shows of every genre. This gem is an Iowa City staple that is worthy of donor dollars from around the globe. Thank you, Englert!

A superb experience, whether an intimate onstage performance or a sold out dance party. You can't go wrong, and there's often new and unique groups brought in that challenge or expose me to new kinds of music!
