The unicorn of record stores. You may not believe ...

The unicorn of record stores. You may not believe a record store like this still exists. But it does. And once you visit, you'll see how magical it really is. Young, old, or in between, you have to visit Canterbury Records, browse through their extensive selection of bluegrass, blues, Broadway, classical, country, folk, jazz, old-time, pop and rock like it was 50 years ago, and take a magical mystery tour of music.

Vast selection of music on compact disc. Friendly and knowledgeable staff to assist you. Excellent selection in the following genera: jazz, classical, world, folk/country, and pop. It is one of last great independent record stores in the area.

Great experience with this shop! I m not a Pasadena local but I love visiting independent record shops since we don t have too many of those where I m from.

I was on a frantic search for signed Taylor Swift CDs and on my search came across this shop. They were super kind and helpful by having a simple and straightforward distribution system. I was put on a list and when the CDs arrived I was notified and had a smooth pickup experience.

We explored the shop for a bit and picked up a Nirvana vinyl while enjoying the atmosphere etc. cool staff, organized and makes me feel like I m in the 90 s. Nice collection of cassettes and CDs. Perfect shop for any type of collector.

A Pasadena institution, they have a large selection of CD's and vinyl. Often carrying hard to find items. There's both street parking and a small lot behind the store. Recently the corner of the building has been used for art installations.

In as much as we are so far out with technology and the milemium era, it feels real good be able still and get your favorite recordings, unique pieces of art, whether it is classic rock, great classical composers , or just today's comptenporary artists that can bring you so much pleasure when listening to. Bravo!!! Cantbury Records. Thanks so much for being faithful and to remain strong in despite of today's demands and still be able to serve us consumers that truly appreciates being able to walk in to a record store such as yours and our favorite music.

Canterbury records is a very large store with many selections for vinyl and cds. They have a huge cd selection which is cool if you are into cds but people go to record stores to buy classic vinyls, not cds

I love this place. Rusty (the owner) is the sweetest guy you could meet. He's very familiar with all types & categories of music. Anything you may want or like he may have in his store already. Whatever he doesn't have I'm sure he's always happy to order it for you. I frequent this place often. I hope you will too

Ever have one if those days where everything goes wrong? Well, lo and behold if it were not for Canterbury Records today, it would have been claimed a total disaster! I ordered Rihanna's Delux CD/DVD 'Loud' and her Unapologetic CD before Thanksgiving 2013, I went in today and lo' and behold CDs were still there;dust , the receipt, two rubberbands-It was so wonderful.: ) A round of applause to Cantebury Records!

Canterbury Records is a rare find these days, whether your thing is movies or music, recently-released or vintage and collectible, you'll find it all here. They have an extensive collection of new and used CDs, DVDs, and vinyl covering a broad range of styles - rock, hip hop, blues, funk, disco, jazz, reggae, ska, classical - as well as international music from all over the world. In the event that you're looking for something extremely difficult to find, a helpful member of the staff will be happy to locate a copy and obtain it for you. Very, very highly recommended!

Their vinyl collection gigantic.

Their vinyl collection gigantic.
It is a record shop founded by Leonard Gordon in 1956 in Pasadena. The round yellow sign is the first thing that comes into your eye, and if you can not find it, it's right next to your target building. If you go between the record shop and the target building, there is a kindly parking lot right behind you. This record shop has access to a variety of music including rock, jazz, classic, country, and fork. If you have any questions, please let us know your kindness and kindness. It's so good! It will be a haven for those who love music. Good!

I love having a vinyl store in Pasadena, and this store has great history. That said, currently the majority of the floorspace is still given over to CDs, and their Record Store Day policy is atrocious (basically, the lines are irrelevant - if you're in like in front of someone else, it doesn't matter if they run past you after the doors open). Also, I've been shopping here for years and I recently came in right after they re-opened after the quarantine/shut-down, and I bought a record I didn't even really want, because I want to support businesses like this in our community to make sure they're here for the long haul. My interaction with the person who runs the place was to tell me how much I owed him. There was no "thank you for coming in" or an acknowledgment of the customers supporting his business. I get that he's not a super outgoing person, because I'm not, either, but I can tell you that the businesses I return to repeatedly are the ones that learn who I am after having shopped there for a few years and acknowledge me while I'm patronizing their business.

My first time here, found a couple good albums, even my daughter who after years of trying isijs u now getting into vinyl and cds, found a couple cds she wanted, but we had to leave because my 7 year old needed to use the restroom, and they said they don't have restrooms for the public....I can spend along time in shops like this, but if I have to leave evey time someone has to use the restroom, then it doesn't work for me. So we left and didn't buy anything.

We drove quite a ways to check this place out. Very unorganized and disappointing. I asked if they had certain items, and was told that the woman who stocks the store was sick. Another excuse was that what I was looking for was probably in the warehouse. I asked about something else and the guy said "I don't think they make those anymore. My mistake. I thought that was one of their selling points-hVing stuff that was hard to find. A wasted trip.
