The Eastland Motel Review

Me, my wife, 16 month old son and our dog stayed here at the end of September 2011. It is a pet-friendly motel and we had one of the pet-friendly rooms. For those that travel with pets, I would recommend it--the owners have a very friendly Labrador. We had 2 nice beds, coffee maker, sitting area and plenty of room. All was very clean. In talking with the owner I learned that rooms are steam cleaned weekly. We felt at home and had a nice, restful stay. Out back are grills and picnic tables. Each morning there are fresh-baked muffins, coffee and other breakfast items. The cost is the same as others in the area but the service is far better. We felt like we were visiting friends and this was the first time we stayed here.

I went to Maine looking for a memorable vacation experience and found a nice piece of it here in terms of friendly owners and a good night's rest. The scenery is great--small towns, lighthouses and rugged coast. We watched harbor seals play around while we ate lunch in Lubec. At night, if you walk outside, you will see literally millions of stars. We will be repeat visitors. I hope you enjoy your visit as much as we did.

Nice motel. Very friendly, clean, and good condition. We stayed in the "new section". Not so new, but larger rooms. Would stay here again.

We recently stayed here on our annual motorcycle trip. Six bikes, 6 rooms. The motel is very, very clean. The owner is very friendly and informative. She bakes fresh muffins every morning for her guests, which were delicious. Ours were blueberry and raspberry, Yum yum!! The free phone calls anywhere in USA and Canada was a great benefit. The area is beautiful and I would definitely stay here again. Thanks Heather for your hospitality!

We came with our golden retriever and it was a wonderful place to be! The room was extremely clean and the pet friendly rooms are right by the exit that has lots of grass for romping around! This it the best motel experience we've had!

Great experience. Clean comfortable room. As others have mentioned, homemade muffins are delicious. Excellent wifi connection. Most rooms face east southeast so you get the sun as soon as it's up. I recommend this motel to anyone looking for a clean, comfy place to crash.

This is a nice place, big rooms, nicely appointed, big bath, comfy bed, breakfast of yogurt, fresh fruit, juice, coffee and fresh baked muffins(mmm). Rooms have a fresh, new feel to them. Some pet friendly rooms. Looks low key from the outside, very nice inside.

This place was perfect for what we needed. Plenty of room to walk the dogs. They have a grill to use. There is a variety store right down the road with the greasiest and best pizza I have ever had.

Great place to stay, best SHOWERING,nice owners, really good homemade muffins in the morning, enjoyed our stay, #6,see you next year !

Pro: fresh breakfast, big/clean rooms, clean grounds, the owner was helpful and gave us wonderful advice on local attractions and hiking

Con: the only thing I can say is my bed was a squeaky

Love to stay here! Some updated rooms, some retro rooms (which I soo love). Homemade muffins for breakfast. Always clean with friendly employees. And they are dog friendly with an adorable black lab serving as a greeter lol.

Very, very nice. Room was all updated and super clean. Homemade muffins for breakfast were amazing but get there early because they go fast! Owners are very eco conscious. Wonderful place to stay and a great priice.

Nice place for a roof on a cold windy night. Friendly and knowledgeable staff/owner. Good location for exploring Campobello. Best of it is dog friendly.

We hadn't expected such a clean and pretty room, but it turned out like that, equipped with a microwave and coffee maker. It is also the only hotel in town opening year round. The receptionist is very friendly.

Rooms are clean, reasonably priced, a bit outside the town center but close enough to everything. I wanted to relay a story while I was there. I was bicycle touring and when I arrived I soon realized that I left my passport and ID in Machias. The owner drove me back to Machias (25 miles away) to scour every place I stopped. We did not find it unfortunately but when I offered to give him $ for gas, he steadfastly refused. He and his wife were very helpful, friendly and accomodating throughout my stay which is not always the case with motel owners. I mean, how many motels have homemade muffins for their guests every morning??? Would definitely stay there again.

Would have been a 5 but women in # 6 keep her tv on all night and was rude

Friendly people. Locally owned. Reasonably priced. Comfortable clean room. What s not to like? And best of all it s located in Lubec Maine, across the border from Campobello island in Canada, at the entrance to the spectacularly beautiful bay of Fundy.

Extremely friendly. Spotlessly clean. Nice modern rooms. Shower was a little small but everything else was perfect.

This place is great, there was friendly staff, the muffins are great,
and the beds are comfortable. There are two problems, though.

1. If in rooms 9-21, you have to enter your room in a hallway, which the entrance is by two doors. The one by the ramp, the one that most use, slams LOUD. A lot of the people that are staying don't care about the slamming door, so it slams all night long.

2. Don't take a shower here. The shower is FREEZING, it's like taking a shower in an icebox. It won't warm up, and our toilet had issues as well.

Then again, you have to think, this motel is in Lubec, a town of 300 year-round citizens. The nearest big town is Machias or Calais, which are both about 45 minutes away, so I think this is an O.K. hotel. It's not bad, but it's not great either.

We loved this place. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. Muffins was wonderful as well. If we ever make it back up that way will definitely stay there again.

Lovely owners they make fresh muffins everyday. If you wish for a peaceful and friemdly stay in Maine this is the place to go. Close to a few state parks and right down the road from town with whale tours.

Heather and Greg are friendly, kind and rates are reasonable. Rooms are clean and comfy. Great base for exploring or just visiting family. Breakfast is good too

We stayed in the cottage. Super cute! We enjoyed it tremendously. Home away from home.

A spacious room and very clean. Staff was awesome, many personal touches not found in hotels or motels, almost a B&B feel. I highly recommend this hotel.

We loved it. Clean, everything was up to date, and the bed was so comfortable we didn't want to leave. The girl at the front desk was very helpful and pleasant. Highly recommend staying here.

It's okay. Quiet, no wifi(its unuasble) service lackluster.

Room is small. Bed was well used. Difficult to hook up to internet. Had to check back with desk apparently the routers do not reach all areas. Free US phone service our room had a block on all numbers we tried to dial out to. Desk could not transfer incoming calls either. Limited exterior lighting out front.

Great place to stay. Very reasonably priced, lovely owners and delicious banana chocolate chip muffins. The room was huge, incredibly clean, hot water and great water pressure, the mattress wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worst. Definitely stay here if you are passing through.

Great motel!!! This motel is very clean. Some of the rooms were pet friendly. We had a large room with two double beds. We saw a moose from our hotel room window! Home made muffins and turnovers, fruit and yogurt for breakfast. With coffee, oj and apple juice. Yum!

I love it here lubec is cool in summer and warm in winter the motel is clean and comfortable the owners go the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable and the area is beeeeutifull there are some nice restaurant in town and you can't get fresher sea food lobsters clams and Scollops all in season are harvested here yummy

Stayed with my daughter and her fiance and friend, and grandchildren. This place is so so nice. Very clean, and it includes everything you need. A full kitchen, a bedroom and sleeper couch, recliner, shower is really cool with rocks on the floor of the shower floor. Full living room big screen TV in the living room and TV in the bedroom. Chairs and table to sit outside. And of course table and chairs in the kitchen. I totally recommend staying there!!!

Highly recommend this motel. Adorable place and location near the iconic lighthouse. Stayed on 12/17/18 and the owners were so friendly and helpful!! Especially with no experience in driving in the snow I was able to call them for help if it was needed. Heather really made me feel like home :) she preheated my room so it was nice and cozy on arrival. Will definitely visit again in the summer. The views were absolutely stunning!!!!

I love this place. Heather and Glen are amazing owners, who treat all their guest like family. I honestly can't wait to go back.

Friendly, clean, good beds, quiet, nice continental breakfast, coffee set up, microwave etc. Not enough towels for the three of us.

This is a nice motel if your looking for something cozy. The staff was friendly and the free muffins for breakfast were delicious.

Have been staying at this motel for 8+ years now. Its a small town family owned motel. The owners are constantly making improvements and go out of their way to make all guests feel comfortable and at home. They have a continental breakfast each morning in the office. It's a wonderful place to stay!!!

What more is there to say? Recently renovated rooms and it looks like they are still at it. The beds are comfy and you can find a pillow you like among the many provided in the rooms. The muffins are great in the morning as is the coffee. I would/will stay here again.

Great example of reviving a classic motel. Years ago this place was failing. With the wonderful energy of the new owners the Eastland is warm welcoming clean and friendly. Great place to stay "way downeast". Owners provide excellent area information and homemade muffins while planning your day.

I was excited to do a nearby Puffin tour but it was canceled due to the pandemic. I had booked Eastland Motel 6 months in advance. A month before my stay, the tour was offically canceled. I asked for my fees back from booking.com that the motel was allowed to keep. Thankfully, they did not decide to keep them. I will stay there the next time I do my tour no question.

Stayed two nights. Good location for our planned activities while in the area.

Very nice hotel. Owners are wonderful people and do alot for customers and community. Free breakfast, Wifi and clean rooms.

A wonderful, comfortable stay! Being able to open the window for the great Maine air was a plus.
