I'll be updating this review as the situation progresses, but here's my current experience with Dupli (which I'll try to keep as factual as possible and include pictures so that any prospective clients can form their own opinions):

I reached out late 2018 for a quote because I LOVED their business cards. I had met the team at a convention 3 years prior and held on to the card ever since. I was now ready to get premium cards for my team and wanted what they had.

I have a designer who put together the files (I am not a designer at all). I sent over an .indd file on 12/31 and received a physical proof 4 days later. This was a cheap proof, really just a proof of concept, not the actual product I was to expect, which was made clear from the start. No problem. Proof looked as expected, I confirmed multiple times via email that I wanted their exact same business cards, and we moved forward.

By 1/10 we started talking Data Merges (I had 10+ people needing cards). They ran a data merge, pointed out that the font was too large, and after a couple tweaks from my designers, we got everything fixed. On 1/15, I sent a .ai file (Note: originally I sent a .indd file), they sent me a pdf proof (picture included), and by 1/22 the pdf was approved.

There was an issue of pricing around this point where they tried to charge me for design time from their side (I assume for the Data Merge). This hadn't been discussed prior, I hadn't agreed to any of those charges, nor had the rates been disclosed to me, and they waived the fee. Fine...moving on. I sent a check on 1/24 for the full payment of around 8000 cards.

2/4, I get an email there's a delay due to the temperature - this was when Chicago was -25. Understandable

2/8, I have someone pick up the first half of the order (only half was completed at this point). I personally see the cards on 2/9 and notice my logo is missing from the front. By missing, it's practically invisible in most light. (Picture attached - please compare to the pdf proof).

We connect the following Monday, Brian says the fault is with the .ai file I sent and that the color settings were "changed" from the original file. (My designer didn't change any settings, they simply changed the font size and exported to all popular file types).

I speak with Wally, he supports Brian and suggests that I pursue the designer in this matter. I argue that I approved a pdf proof generated by the Dupli team (below), to which I'm told proofs shouldn't be viewed on computers and that he can't "read my mind" about what I wanted. If we were arguing over a specific shade of blue, I'd agree...but we're discussing whether or not my logo exists on the front of my card (you can judge this for yourself).

Regardless, even though my logo is suddenly missing, the card is still usable. We move on.

(it's also worth noting that my cards are not exactly the same as the Dupli corporate card I requested. The material on mine feels more like cardboard, where their's feels more like plastic. I didn't bring this up with them because the card was still usable, but it added to my disappointment.)

Then I get a few cards into my shipment and find the card pictured below. Looking at it, the card is off center and the cut of the right side isn't clean (notice how the lower right corder tapers in while leaving a "burr" towards the middle of the edge).

This is not usable, especially not at ~0.40 per card. I emailed Wally and Brian late 3/6, but received no response 3/7 or 3/8. In that time I asked two other team members to check out their cards. I've attached pictures of three of the boxes, and it's clear that the corner-rounding process is highly inconsistent.

I'll update this review with more details as they occur, but as of current, I have some very expense, off-center cards that are missing my logo, waiting for a response to see if Dupli decides to stand behind their work.

Update: It's been over a month and there has been no response from Dupli. I'm revising my review to 1 star.

Have had only the best experiences working alongsi...

Have had only the best experiences working alongside Wally and his skilled team to make projects come to life. Clients have been continuously happy with the reasonable prices, quick turnarounds, and of course the end product itself. As a designer, I have appreciated Wally's suggestions and assistance throughout the printing process!
