Nice french bistro with a fun atmosphere at night and an interesting take on some french dishes. Had the coq au vin and it was tasty but not exactly traditional. I'd like to come back and try more of the food!

Service was okay but not in line with the high-end nature of this restaurant. Especially concerning was that the chef seemed put off by my request to make a small modification to the entree that I ordered.

Sommelier Rebecca Cagle's wine classes are a must attend! She picks interesting wines that she's passionate about and shares her knowledge in a fun and accessible way. And afterwards, why not stick around for a delicious meal! Such a great idea!

The hipster chic is inviting but I was always a little intimidated about fitting in. I decided to give DBGB a try during restaurant week. Surprisingly, they did not rush us along even though it was a Saturday night. I MUST make a point of that. The server was very knowledgeable about the wine menu and the food was all perfect.

Had the escargot, tartar, cauliflower and steak frites, truly delicious with out the white table cloth stuffiness of a typical French restaurant. Say at the bar, it was busy and very efficient. Super knowledge staff

DBGB is in a great location, the City Center of DC. Quiet atmosphere with modern decorations and great for someome that can do well with a very limited menu. There are only six entrees to choose from, with options that lack variety. The food is a little over priced in that when we left we weren't completely satisfied and still hungry. If you are looking for convenience then this may be the place for you because of the location but for the money you will spend you will definitely be happier at Del Frisco's Steakhouse also located in City Center.

Left Tiffany's and went to DBGB with friends. Love the atmosphere, but the food, hold the tastebuds, they are overly engaged at this time. Something for every palette. We all ordered the same thing, the steak frites, it comes with a grilled romaine salad oh my, I ordered another side salad. This will be one of my go to places.

This was one of two places that I went to as part of restaurant week and this was the clear winner, hands down. But it is a win even without that comparison, and is an experience that makes the non-restaurant-week prices worth it, if you can afford it!

The service is amazing, the food is delicious, the wait-time is reasonable, and the ambience is really classy. We reached about a half hour earlier than our reservation, but we were very affably seated right away. A small detail in their service that I really appreciated was that the servers rearranged the dishes on our table and expertly accommodated the subsequent courses. I always have this little awkward moment when I'm(/ we are) still working on one course and the next comes in. It's all sitting there clumsily as we try utilize table real estate most efficiently - one little jigsaw puzzle where all the pieces fit JUST about right as long as nobody gives one little careless nudge that can set plates toppling outside the table. So brownie points from me for taking care of that little detail!

Food itself - the appetizers were moist, fresh, and warm, with the madeleines being my favorite. Being a vegetarian, my choice was made for me on the restaurant week menu - french toast. It made me a little apprehensive since I'm not one for an entirely sweet breakfast. I saturate on my sugar levels beyond a certain point. But I was quite blown away with the BEST FRENCH TOAST I ever had! A wholesome slice with a rich creamy consistency of batter, uniformly soaked, and with custard-like balance in taste. We did also follow it up with ice creams and tried chocolate, pistachio, and mint between 4 of us. The pistachio definitely was the one sour point while the chocolate trumped. But a pretty average ice cream - not superb, nothing to complain either. By the end of it, we were so full that we didn't feel like getting out for another hour. But the staff didn't give us one awkward or expectant glance. So, again, service - 5 star!

Ended up walking out feeling like happy kings after a hearty meal!

Another rare new space in DC that gets the design aspect down, its lovely inside. I've been twice now, for a late afternoon coffee/snack and dinner a second time. The bartenders know there thing and mix a solid cocktail with ease. The food was great--nothing overly complicated, but solid good food for a decent price.

My only negative was the service from the serving team. It was the end of the night and my server didn't seem too happy to have a group of 6 seated in her section at 10PM--she wasn't very warm and welcoming and forgot much of our order. At some point, she must have decided to tag out and pawn us off to another server--without telling us--she just disappeared until we finally realized she was gone. Upon asking someone for her to come to the table, we found our new server. As weird of an exchange as it was, she was very nice and accommodating. She seemed to go the extra mile with us as she knew we were kind of neglected.

I'll head back, though, I assume everyone is entitled to an off day now and again and ultimately we had a good experience.

Given the general lack of human decency demonstrated by the manager and staff, I will never again give DBGB my business. My wife and I left our table momentarily to change our son's diaper in the restroom and came back to find our stroller and belongings had been moved and another couple had been seated at our table... despite telling our server that we would be gone briefly to change a diaper. The hostess told us the manager had told her to move our things, which were relocated to the front of the restaurant near the hostess stand. I found this both offensive and unacceptable. Families with children, be warned.

Having had AMAZING exoeriences at Daniel and Bar Bouloud in New York City, I must say the bar was set quite high (this is a budget restaurant by comparison: we spent five times more for dinner for two at Daniel for a birthday celebration). Sadly, we were disappointed. Although my son received his order in good time, my husband and I waited more than 20 minutes for our drinks (mine was slightly watered down and hubby's [a neat (iceless) up drink which arrived five minutes later] was barely cool. The waiter captain seemed to be more interested in other parties without children (our boy is 10) than in us. None of our food was delivered by her. We ordered a particular wine and were told it was out of stock. We chose a slightly more expensive bottle ($10) the manager suggested. He said he'd give it to us for the lower price of the wine we desired. When our food arrived, (mind you, the wine arrived at least five minutes AFTER the food) the presentation and flavor was that which we'd come to expect from a Daniel Bouloud restaurant. In the end, our boy needed sleep, so we skipped dessert. However, we were disappointed again when the check arrived with the extra $10 charge for the wine. When we questioned the waiter captain, she sent over the manager, who proceeded to place blame on the waiter captain for the mistake. The manager made good on his promise and corrected the check, but not before my husband (once a fine dining captain himself) explained that the fault lay not with the waiter captain, but with the manager who, having known she was new to the position and brokered the deal himself, didn't think to check whether our waitperson knew how to ring up the bottle at the discounted price. In the end, our waitperson received a 15% tip (everyone starts at 20% with us), but we shall not return to DBGB. When one is spending $200+ on dinner , one shouldn't have to argue the bill. And though $10 is a drop in the bucket, it's not about the money - no amount of money can buy back the time we spent arguing the bill while on holiday. Skip this one...

I ve been to their NYC location many times and this was the first time in DC. I can happily confirm the food is great here, service is warm and hospitable and the ambience is fantastic. A really great place for a night in the town. They have an impressive wine list and some really good drinks. I highly recommend this place.

So, if your in DC and you want the absolute best and most delicious food money can buy then your in luck my friend. Executive chef Nicholas will give you and your taste buds something to remember. I wish I could afford to eat here every day! The scallops are 10 out of 10, the rock fish is absolutely phenomenal and the desserts are life changing. I tasted the mussels and was blown away with the flavor. The rock fish was so light a flaky with this light crust that have a blast of flavor and balance that would melt in your mouth. The mussels we're so freaking good, with the sauce having a bit of heat in a very subtle but deliberate touch. Service is second to none. Don't come in here in a hurry, take your time and savor every bite, even down to the last morsel. Price is not something to be concerned about considering what you get in quality and flavor. Make reservations ahead of time and be prepared for a flavor experience like no other!

Our best meal of the 4 days in DC. Service perfect. Iva was friendly without being overbearing or pushy. She was available when needed, but did not hover or make us feel pushed to finish our meals. Her recommendation for meal and wine pairing were perfect. Additional staff cleared plates in a timely manner. Crab cake was one of the best we ve ever had. The Thai sausage made in-house was very tasty. Soft-shell crab pasta dish had plenty of crab and steak was cooked to perfection, very tender and flavorful. Extensive wine selection too. An all around wonderful experience and we would return regularly if we lived in the area.

Having lived in NYC for 8 years, there were more than handful opportunities to dine in Daniel Boulud's restaurants. I thought I missed my chance after moving to DC, who knew one would magically establish its first location in the DMV area right on the ground floor of my building.

My husband and I brought our in laws for Father's Day celebratory dinner. It was surprisingly easy to reserve our table through opentable - even an hr before our desired time - every time slot was still available for a group of 5. We were seated promptly and service was on point from the moment we sat.

There were no pre-fixe or specials for Father's Day. The menu wasn't too extensive but there were plenty to choose from - we started off by sharing a few appetizers - fried calamari, duck pate, and fried burrata. The fried calamari was paired with a tasty spicy mayo sauce - delish! I personally am not the biggest fan of any pate - so their duck pate gets an okay from me - reminded me of a cold sausage. And their fried burrata - I fell in love with burrata since my visit at Obelisk this past winter and it had become my fav cheese of all time - the one here did not disappoint - Just think of a super tasty giant ball form of fried mozzarella stick paired with house made marinara and pesto sauce. I ate through two bread baskets thanks to this giant ball of heaven - so good.

And the power eating continued

Seared scallops - our server's personal favorite - the scallops were bit too salty for my taste which were a strong contrast to the sweetbreads that were smothered in a sweet and sour sauce. The sauce however fell flat and only reminded me of not so well made Americanized Chinese food.

Beef Duo - hanger steaks with oxtail - very rich and flavorful. My father is picky with his steak but he ate it all up.

Pesto Cavetelli - loved the ricotta pairing but i found the pesto wasn't pesto-ey enough. Still a good dish nevertheless.

Sausage Duo - Vermont and Bratwurst - my brother in law could not taste the difference between the two. He wasn't a big fan of either. The hash brown and potato salad were standard. For a restaurant with section on the menu just for sausages - it was quite disappointing.

Frenchies - my husband did not particularly enjoy the tomato jam - it was too sour for his taste. Still a good burger - just not the best burger.. or top 5 burgers of this year in his book.

Celebration = Sweet ending!

Souffle - Warm, custardy, melt in your mouth. The gold standard of how a souffle should be!

Blueberry tart - my father in law polished his plate without ever offering a bite. My assumption - damn good

Rhubarb and buttermilk sundae - a nice balance of sweet and tart - refreshing choice

Profiterole - the coffee flavor was too overpowering - wished there was a more hazelnut presence. Too rich, too bold - wasn't for me.

Baked Alaska - cuz im a fatty and I would get a dessert made for 2 ppl. Nothing outstandingly special - but I loved the presentation and the 30 secs show. The pistachio ice cream tasted more like green tea ice cream? Raspberry sorbet + vanilla ice cream + vanilla cake + house made meringue = a tasty combo.

Overall - there were plenty of hits and misses but as a whole we enjoyed our meal. Now I'm intrigued by Boulud's other restaurants, maybe on our next visit back in the big apple.

When we found out that DBGB was extending restaurant week, my friend and I took advantage of the opportunity and weren't disappointed. Service was great with Victor and Jason. The food was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. A nice surprise at the end of the meal was a bag of Madeleines. Definitely worth going out in the freezing cold to enjoy such a wonderful lunch.

The service was fantastic, the drinks were awesome, and the food was terrific! Highly, highly recommend the Careless Whisper from the bar, the eggplant appetizer from the menu was Heavenly - order two of them! And we have loved every sausage plate on the menu! Also, we recommend the Chop-Chop Salad - the dressing is to die for!

Food was great, but the service was lacking. Waitress kept commenting on our menu choices and the wine we ordered, pinot grigio was so good ordered a second bottle but they only had 1 bottle. They suggested a blanc in the same price range ($60-70), it was ok, but ordered a second bottle of blanc, no more of that either. Wound up drinking 3 different bottles of wine. Wasn't happy about that, if I'm spending that much on each bottle they should have enough on hand. Needless to say I spent quite a bit in this restaurant and I didn't get the wine I wanted and the waitress needed to keep her comments to herself and just say "good choice" instead of "you must really like oysters" saying it like we are gluttons. Will not be going there again.

Amazing food here. I got the black angus beef duo, and it comes with hanger steak and oxtail! So goooood. Their drinks are also on point. It is a bit of a fancier place since it's in city center, so people tend to dress up a little bit.

I stopped here quickly for their happy hour which is a great deal for the city. 8 dollars cocktails and some good appetizer options. I was served quickly, but i think the bartender was new because he charged me full proce and took 25 minutes to get a manager to come fix my bill. Otherwise the food was good, and there was a good atmosphere in the restaurant. I would come back to try the rest pf their menu.

I love this place. Tables are always available, food is very good, and the place is very pretty. Staff is not the nicest, but not a deal breaker for me. This is my go to place for last minute plans, when everything else in the city seems booked. And the quality is great! I dont understand why this place is so underrated.

10/10 Would recommend. Enjoyed Happy Hour oysters and a nice glass of wine. Service was great - prompt, polite, not overbearing. Could not be more pleased with the oysters, some of the best I've ever had. Looking forward to going back.

Had a wonderful night out for my birthday at DBGB! The menu was a fresh take on classic French favorites. Our table was ready as soon as we arrived, and no time was wasted getting us our menus, and bread for the table. Our server was friendly and attentive for our entire visit. To start, we shared the escargots, and enjoyed every bite. Our entrees were the Singapore Duck and Dayboat scallops. Both were delicious, and we cleaned our plates. They graciously brought out a dessert of my choice on the house. The strawberry rhubarb cheesecake was the perfect blend of sweet and tart. Bonus - they make a great cup of coffee. We will definitely be back to try brunch some time.

The food, atmosphere, and staff were excellent! A perfect spot to stop for a bite. There are indoor and outdoor seating options. In the late afternoon much of the outdoor seating is shaded. Mushroom soup is a must try!

Went to the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon to sit at the bar. The bartender Kalina was nice and suggested the arugula salad with chicken or Frenchie burger when I said I wanted something "meaty". I ordered the salad with the chicken which was topped with some sort of seasoning and dressing. It was by far the best thing I tasted in a while. A woman who appeared to be a tourist came in and ordered the same salad. I overheard her basically give the same compliment. This is a good go to choice for anyone in the area. Delicious!!!

Came here he other night for some burgers. The burgers were excellent and the fries were delicious. Service was friendly and attentive. The group was rather large and the server was able to handle our table with people coming and going throughout the evening. Excellent facility and great food. The draft selection is wonderful and there are some unique beer options.

Dinner for two here compared well with the excellence of Daniel Boulud's NYC restaurants. Eamonn gave fine explanations for our questions about the menu and wine list. Restaurant Manager Alexander was warmly attentive, dropping by during the meal and near the end to inquire about our satisfaction. Just make sure to work out at a gym soon after dipping into the scrumptious Baked Alaska! Anyway, such a pleasant dining experience could not be excelled anywhere in MetroDC.

We held a large dinner party here for 30 attorneys in the Salon Bleu room. Caroline and her crew were so incredibly attentive to our group even after we changed things up so many times. We will absolutely be doing another private event there and you should too!

I am a college educated BLACK MAN in the top 10% of the nation in income. On September 4, 2016, I was the only person sitting in my section at the front of restaurant which is all glass with people walking by on the sidewalk adjacent to me. There were two televisions, one at the bar with one White man watching and one in my section. I was only watching the one in my section directly in front of me. A white male employee came out of the back, and turned the TV I was watching off without saying a word and went back in the back. I expressed my displeasure to the manager, paid my check and left. I will NEVER GO BACK THERE, and I give this place a BIG THUMBS DOWN.

We had a delicious meal and had great service. I had two cocktails and my husband had two glasses of the House cabernet without looking at the menu. Imagine our surprise when we got the bill and we were charged $32 per glass for the wine! Although it was a nice wine about $30/ bottle retail and a wine we ve had before, by no means should they be charging $32 a glass. We dine out frequently and are far from cheap, but we are actually very angry and feel VERY Ripped off! This ended up ruining our meal. Be careful when you order the house wines.

Traveliing from out of town and stumbled across this place. Crab cakes were excellent as was the beef fillet. Peppery with mellowed leaks and rich jus. The restaurant was busy and lively but not at all loud.

Great place with good food. I don't regret taking my family here as everyone enjoyed the food. The staff was amazing and this is one place I would not mind giving 20% tip! When I'm in DC again I'm surely going back for lunch... complements to the chefs in this place! The prices are not too bad either! I do recommend this place for drinks, lunch and good service!
