I cannot believe how run down the Desmond has become. I had to switch rooms because the first one was so filthy!! The second one is only a little better.

The hotel staff was incredibly professional and helpful. The hotel itself was gorgeous, a,d the ballroom I was in was fantastic.
Great food. Great service experience . beautiful hotel, pleasant staff.
Very nice hotel with great amenities and helpful staff but building decor and atmosphere is very dated.
Very nice venue for events. After seeing the place and it's charm, I may stay there in the future.
Absolutely loved my time at this hotel. Went for a convention. The banquet food was very good.
Hotel is nice but dated. Alot of wallpaper peeling off the walls. Bathrooms have slight amount of mold hallways are confusing.
I attended an event in King room 8/6 and I have to say that the Banquet manager Don is by far the most disrespectful human being I've come across traveling in the past several years. He actually scared my wife. His attitude is very unprofessional and inappropriate. He was yelling and throwing stuff around like a child. He then stormed into the back hallway where I heard objects hitting the ground as though he were throwing a tantrum. He did not show us nor his employees any respect. I feel bad for them. I dread returning to the Desmond hotel in Albany NY.
Great Victorian place to stay in Albany. Near (next to) airport. Staffs are friendly.
On big negative point for me is Internet. They have a free wifi with strong signal but you cannot reach the Internet. If you did reach the Internet, you most likely lost the Internet access every 5 minutes. Complaints to the front desk on the first day and the third night was still no stable Internet.
The hotel was a great place and I found it clean and good service
really nice staff. great place. clean. just a bit outdated. would go back
Loved their bread pudding.Besides , my dust allergies acting up in the room. Other than that it was spacious. Most of the staff is welcoming towards young adults around my age. Interior design on the hotel itself was cool.
Great place to stay very clean and quiet and the beds are so comfortable
Wonderful hotel to stay in. Old southern charm. We were there for graduation. Enjoyed our stay!
I went to the desmond for a school event celebrating 100 days before graduation. The decor was beautiful and the staff was very friendly. Very cool balconies inside. It's like artwork
Overall it was a good experience, but not great. The food was subpar and the suites where we were meeting in are showing wear and their age. The location is convenient and the staff were good.
Vintage Style Hotel, clean rooms, fast check in, great hemisphere! comfortable beds. Only the wi-fi is not that great!
Food was excellent at the conference. Dessert portions 2 could be smaller. Wait staff very friendly.
Great food. Tyler and his crew are always great to our large quarterly breakfast meeting group. Reasonable conference rate for a good cause. Friendly and courteous staff. Great food (always hard not to eat too much!)
The location of this hotel is very convenient, right off of I-87 and near the airport. Getting out of the hotel parking lot can be tough due to high traffic. Food was very good. Courtyards are nice. Some room furnishings are dated.
Since we discovered Simpsons, there is no other place that compares to the elegant breakfasts served here. Everything is fresh and presented well and always delicious. I hope Simpsons always stays there.
I'm just rating the Beer Festival which is best around. Great job by all.
This place is disgusting. It smells the bed mat was dirty, stains on the floor, toilet, and shower. The manager wouldn t refund me money when I was disgusted in the room, he said their was no one else to talk to either. We changed room and this one is just as dirty. Won t ever be back!
Great location for conference and meetings! Courtyards are very cool. Good service friendly people!
Rooms are quite nice, clean and comfortable. Don't like the hotel layout but they try hard. Not bad place to stay.
Staff is friendly. Check in and out was easy. The food was great. Place is a lot bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. It is a older hotel and has an old smell. Close to everything I needed.
The hotel is kind of older styled which some people may like. I do not. There isnt a refrigerator in your room like most hotels have. You have to request one and they charge you 15 dollars for it. The staff is friendly but some seem confused most of the time. It is also right near the Albany airport so you hear the planes coming and going. It would wake me up through the night. The carpets seem dirty and like they need a good cleaning. The room service food is very expensive for hotel food. The beds are uncomfortable and cheap. The walls and doors must be thin because I could hear people very clearly in my room. It's very hard to pull into the parking lot because of all the traffic. It is near a main strip with tons of food places but it is also very busy. It's an okay place to stay but I wouldn't recommend it for a long period of time.
More of a historical feel to this hotel. There are things that could improve but it is made up for in other ways like its charm. At night I enjoy hanging out by the koi fountain. It is relaxing area. They need to work on better wifi and few minor fixes here or there. But still a place I enjoy staying at. They have a gift shop, bar and dining area. As well as a swimming pool and pool table.
Very nice hotel but some area are under renovations. I really liked the style and hospitality of the staff.
This place is really neat. It's themed like Revolutionary New England, complete with flags, and the entire hotel is meant to mimic as if you were walking the cobblestone streets of early Boston.
This place is worth visiting, purely for exploring the actual building. It's definitely interesting, and the courtyard is a pretty good hangout. This is a good place to host an event. I went here for a masonic conference.
There's two courtyards here, which are covered with a large skylight, and sets of rooms where the front/entrance of those rooms are made to look like row-houses in the city of Boston, and then courtyard itself mimics a town hall area. Which is incredibly neat. There are second floor rooms too, which have a balcony on them with glass double-doors, the balcony jutting out to overlook the courtyard, which is really, really interesting. I stayed in a handicap-accessible room, because my partner used to be in a motorized wheelchair until his passing, and while the room functions really well for anyone who is immobilized, the doorway is really tight.
Handicap accessible shower is alright, albeit really awkward. The curtain opens from the middle, and the shower itself is just totally flat, and flush with the floor, and if you're not really careful about it, you can get water all over the place. Also, there are two removable showerheads in the shower, but only one works.
Rooms come with exactly what you need. Includes a nice desk with a drawer, a lamp complete with some plugs on it, and the lamp itself looks really nice. Definitely drew my attention, for whatever reason. Chair is comfortable and adjusts.
The restaurants here are really good. The tavern was expensive, but the service was really good. They have (I think replicas?) of rifles and muskets from the era, which were really interesting to see. There are some rather questionable statues of Native Americans dotted throughout the building but uh, it definitely keeps true to the era from which it mimics.
The beds here are unfortunately, really really uncomfortable. The sheets are starchy and scratchy, as well. I've had more comfortable sleeping experiences on fold-out cots during my term of service in the US Army. Fred Flinstone would rate the beds a solid five.
It's a shame of just how absolutely memorably uncomfortable the beds in this place are, because it's the only reason I'm giving it a 3 - that and the fact that this hotel is just somewhat in the middle of nowhere. There's no real interesting places within walking distance here, besides a really good Japanese steakhouse.
We often come here to eat when we are in Albany. Classy relaxed atmosphere with a wide variety of food choices. Service is always excellent and any food item delicious. Plenty of parking available.
Great service & atmosphere. Food is testy & portion are more then satisfying .
Bad event planning to get in the door for the wine and chocolate festival which sold out. Had to walk down 3 hallways to wait in line. But the festival was awesome! Lots of fun. Needed more chocolate
Cool rustic hotel off the main drag. No complaints whatsoever!
its colonial....or old...either way. courtyard a great place for weddings. so many great colonial flags .... so its a colonial hotel with colonial decor ---- why the pineapple logo? someone pkease explain that...
Cool theme, but the rooms need to be updated. Carpet and wallpaper is old throughout and shows signs of wear.
This was a place I went for Youth and Government and the staff were amazing. The scenery was beautiful its like walking into a little town of its own.
Staying in a clean spacious room in the quaint old village atmasophere is a welcome change from chain hotels. The bread pudding is devine!
The service was great the staff was very considerate and professional i would recommend the Desmond hotel to anybody
Friendly staff, comfortable beds, and attractive grounds with lots of greenery and birds. Was quite surprised by the restaurant; the food was fine-dining quality, although the service was a little too casual for my liking. My only real complaint, though, is that whenever another guest left a nearby room, the much-louder-than-normal slamming doors sounded like a gunshot going off, which made for a rather fitful night.
We didn't stay overnight but walked around inside. Beautiful courtyard space!
Very good staff, great food and location was perfect.
Decent place with ok food, but good service and accommodating for large groups.
Stayed at the Desmond Hotel for one night, for a work related conference. Everyone was very helpful, polite and friendly. The conference ended up extending past check out time. But the company made sure Desmond Hotel would not charge us anything further for a late check out. When it was time to check out, all I did was mention the group I was with and that it was a late check out and they were fine. No problems at all. The rooms were large and clean. A little disappointed there were no small refrigerators in the rooms, but overall was a great trip. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful.
I cannot wait for the renovations this place will be better than it already is
Your entrance sitting area was much in need of your attention. Furniture past its prime. Area rug was extremely soiled. Davenport needs to be replaced. It left a very sad image for a first time visotor.
A upscale hotel. A very nice place to take someone s wife and pound Her out like a mallard duck.
Clean rooms and good service, but an old hotel that needs some renovations.
I attended a wedding at the Desmond - from start to finish the hotel did a wonderful job as host. The food was very nice and staff were very responsive to special requests. We started the night and the room was clean and comfortable.
Nice older hotel. Great service in all areas. A little shabby.
Above-average hotel. Quite large, with many rooms, which are fairly spacious and clean.
Colonial style. Decent bar and restaurant. Fair prices.
Very friendly and attentive staff. Clean and unique setting. I have attended a couple seminars here as well as stayed in the hotel and all experiences were wonderful.
Very beautiful hotel. The staff was very nice the day I parked my vehicle there and the shuttle driver was very nice. The day I came back to pick up my vehicle the staff on the phone wasn't very pleasant or helpful. Sorta rude. The shuttle driver was very nice.
