I've been working as an editor with The Community ...

I've been working as an editor with The Community Company for a couple of years now. It's actually the second time I've worked here. Long story short, I left the first time to pursue another opportunity but quickly realized that the people and culture here are tough to beat. So I reapplied years later, and I'm so happy I did.

The company overall:

The biggest draw for me is how approachable everyone in the company is, including our co-founders. It still has a startup feel (everyone's ideas are heard and we're all trusted to do our work without being micro-managed) without the startup downfalls. Having come from a startup before this, it also really helps to have healthcare options and other benefits. Not to mention, everyone here is treated like a human. If I have a doctor's appointment, I don't need to ask for permission; I just need to make sure my work is done on time.

While we do have a HQ office in Boston, most of us work remotely, which isn't for everyone. Fortunately, there's still an aspect of community (after all, we *are* focused on community-building), like Slack communities where we can chat with each other at any point in the day about both work- and non-work related topics.

The work:

Day to day, our teams work really hard. In almost every role, we work directly with our members on a daily basis to help them. Education and assistance are a huge part of what we do. For example, if you're interested in joining the editorial team, your role as an editor isn't necessarily to make edits to articles entirely yourself, like at a publication. The bulk of our work is in helping members understand thought leadership content and to guide them with edit suggestions. It's definitely a mutual effort.

Don't waste your time applying here. I sent my resume and was told they would review it. I responded with a request for a timeline because I'm tired of waiting 3-4 weeks for an interview or feedback. Patrick followed up to say I wasn't a good fit when I'm more qualified to do the job. Stay away from these companies that have no diversity or human soul.

For anyone looking for a top notch company to work for, this is the one. The culture, management, teams, and communication between all is phenomenal. You also feel and know that management cares for you at all times. You are always encouraged to communicate and suggest your own ideas and solutions. If you in need of assistance with anything, you can simply ask anybody there. Everyone is always happy to help.
100% recommended!

The Community Company (parent of YEC) is an unethical and unprofessional company. They do not care at all about customer service. If you have a concern and want to discuss something with a member of their team, my experience is that they will completely ignore you. I have contacted various members of their staff only to be ignored, redirected, and then ignored again. I highly recommend that you do NOT use this service and find a better organization as the other review has pointed out.
