The Children's Home of Reading is a joy to visit because the people who work there are so incredibly caring. Every person I met when visiting was nice, genuine and sincerely concerned for the kids.

They have a great mission worth supporting - helping young people and families live their best lives possible. I look forward to the next time I stop by!

I was 16 and I was there from 2019 and 2020 I was there was mental health issue and I got help I miss being there because it was like home to me and I miss the staff when I was there and my friend that are still my friend's to this day. And I got the help I need to get out of there but I have to stay the. Got really good staff and I was in the GRTF unit and that was fun because you didn't have to see the boys but some people didn't listen to the rules but that what people do but if anybody have to go there try your best because there their to help you not hurt you

Would be more effective if the clinicians and other staff with authority were held accountable for how they guide the children and treat them. Both RTF and SRTF are as I remember well run and the majority of the staff have a genuine concern for the kids. That being said, since the kids have essentially no outlet to voice their concerns beyond the staff in-house, or writing a grievance which would yield some kind of backlash much goes on that the staff aren't held accountable for. More outside auditing would be helpful, principles before personality.

Was here from 1953 to 1962 I would say there were about 80 children there at the time we all had certain chores we did and they were pretty strick as for me I went from 1st grade up to 12th we had bad times and good ones but my best time was when August came and it was time to go to camp joy I really did every so often I tried to go back if possible and see it once again both camp and the children's home both will always be a place in my heart

I was here when I was 16 in 1980. I was the last kid to move off of the third floor when they closed the floor down. I have so many happy memories from the short time I called it home

I had no idea all the great work this organization is doing in the community and beyond. 15 programs! Two schools, outpatient, residential programs for girls and boys, adoption foster care, acute partial hospitalization...wow! I thought it was an orphanage....now I work there!

Last year over 1300 children and their families received services through our programming. If you want to learn more on how you can help give me a call!

This is a good service provided for troubled kids. They cld be a li'l better with communication, but overall...nice staff, clean, responsible and careful with personal items. Wish there was a facility closer than Reading tho. Takes 1hr1/2 to get there. (one way) Which limits our visits to 1 a month. I wld love to visit more than that!
