A classic, music venue to see acts up close. However, bring some hearing protection. The board operator doesn't know how to adjust the sound so that you can enjoy the music without losing your hearing.
cool experience our 1st time their saw Jim Breuer and as always he was AWESOME
Kinda dodgy and rundown looking. Bartender was extremely nasty and unfriendly. Hardly anywhere to sit so 60% of crowd was left standing for 5 plus hours. In a bad area. Several bands complained publicly about the room onstage and also sound equipment provided by venue was iffy at best. Clearly a money only minded place. I will not return.
Good selection of bands but sound system was not the best. Made it hard to understand the lyrics
Honestly can't understand why this venue is still standing. Sure it brings in a lot of great talent but it's very small and tight, the bathrooms are always filthy, and the staff is very unprofessional.
Its the chance do i need to say more? Best live venue ever.
Love this place, a little run down. Little odd, but makes me feel at home and comfortable when I'm there. Absolutely a place you'll remember
I haven't been there in years but have been a few times and it's a solid live music venue, they get great bands so that certainly is a good thing.
This place looks like it needs a remodeling job a refresh even saw killswitch engage here and there was a fight on the second floor I was afraid for other people's live they could have easily fallen from the top floor
Cool "old-time" theater ... Great place to see rock n roll; the sound is excellent in this venue!
Some of the greatest bands played here, and still do!
This is a very cool venue. Views are available on multiple floors.
Always interesting, the place needs a little repair...PRONOUN/ JIMMY EAT WORLD...Blend of new and old
Great place to see a show. The staff and crowds are usually really good and a lot of high caliber acts hit the stage here.
Been to a lot of concerts seen some of the best performance here
Amazing old school concert venue. Doesn't look like much but it's a great place to see a show.
One of the best places in the Hudson Valley to see bands
Great venue. Sounded great, bar front and center, low priced bar, great drinks, friendly hosts, and amazing bands week after week. 10/10
Bathrooms are redone which is a plus. Volume is always jacked far too high for human consumption
The place needs lessons in customer service. Ya know, you're supposed to be nice to customers !!!
This is a quaint old theatre that has been converted into a show venue and bar. I'm sure it was a beautiful theatre back in the day, although it could use a face lift. The fabric trim, in a beautiful deep red, is thinning out and needs to be replaced. The place could use a paint job too.
That being said, it's a fun place to watch a show. If you want to be near the stage make sure you're at the front of the line, since the place fills up fast.
This has been, and always will be, the primary live music venue i go to.
It was freezing inside. Had to sit thru the show with our coats on
The concert rocked, love the atmosphere awesome concert venue
Filthy establishment, the building in it s entirety is clearly neglected. The bathrooms were vomit-inducing. Staff had no respect for the customers, they were rude and dismissive at best. Show started 2 hours late and the crowd was never given any updates. The building was bitter cold throughout the whole show in the winter.
The drinks were overpriced for the bottom shelf garbage they tried to pass off as liquor and they had very little to choose from. No wine at all.
I m reposting this review because it seems someone managed to take down my first entry.
That s ok. I can revisit and repost.
Cool venue built in 1912. Also looks like it was used for Masonic rituals.
They may not be a big venue but they have a lot of great acts and there is a lot of open area. Only complaint the staff can be dismissive.
Decent little theater for a snug concert. I went to go see mushroomhead there. It was a good show.
I've been going here for a long time. The show is great when the sound guy is great, and the beer can be quite expensive, but it's all in making money to keep the business going. If you plan on drinking a lot, plan to bring a lot of cash.
Well, beer price is expensive and shots are water down Evan if you ask for no ice, bouncers over step they're authority A.H. besides that good place to see excellent , good bands past, future . Historical night club of The Hudson Valley . Wish more popular bands perform there . Good price for tickets and location . Not far from train station . Past performers Ramones, Misfits, Black Flag, Motorhead , Heatbreader, Danzin and more
I spent most of my youth here, jamming out to some of my favorite bands. This venue saved me from my darkness, now that I look back. I could have easily been abusing drugs and causing mischief but instead I chose the drug of metal music and I can't thank The Chance Theater enough for so many amazing, fond memories that I will never forget. xo
Going here for the club nights was horrible. I highly suggest that if you're 21 or over, don't come here. The bartenders don't know what they're doing and they over charge you incredibly. The music sucked, and so do the bathrooms. The workers are rude, and stuck up. If you want to actually enjoy your night, go somewhere other than The Chance Theater.
Small venue, however an excellent place to see your favorite band up close. The stage is right there and I was able to take up close video and photos without any hinderance from security. Amazing show and nice venue.
I've been seeing shows here since I was a kid, I've even had family members perform here. It's a great place!
Great place for live music, if your up tight and use to fancy clubs with mixologist this is the place for you. One of the best venues in New York state for up close live music.
I ve really have enjoyed getting to the know the staff here over the years . Makes for any easy day . Very Friendly and efficient club .
Great old theatre to see a show. Plenty of room to see whether on the lower level from stage to the bar to the balcony area that has it's own bar there. Parking is available close to the chance.
Best local music venue for Rock, both well known and new acts.
Sound quality is decent for a tight rock club. And this is exactly an old school rock club. Cool vintage pieces on the walls upstairs on the mezzanines, although I've never seen people go up there. The drinks are reasonably priced and the bathrooms are ok. But I don't like that the outside smoking area always billows smoke back in to a club where it's already hard to breathe and the security doesn't care at all. Don't expect to linger here but expect to get your money's worth from a local vintage rock club.
Great venue to see amazing shows in an intimate setting
The Chance is to the Hudson Valley, as CBGB's was to NYC
The only decent club north of NYC for hard rock and heavy metal concerts. The price is always affordable to boot.
Always a good venue for a show, always too loud,up close and personal with the bands
