I had no idea how great this place was . Never even thought it would be worth a visit on my many visits to nyc . Huge error Small and perfect incredibly enjoyable and not overwhelming .
great place to take the kids, cousins, niece and nephews. Loved the animals and the Polar Bear.
We visited in the winter and i think alot of the animals were doing their winter thing, hiding in caves & sleeping. We didn't make it in time for a show/feeding but the sea lions were very entertaining! Highlight of the visit. The cafe was expensive & food wasn't great - definitely worth eating before you go.
The facility is actually very manageable compared to the size of the Central Park, but still a lot is offered here. The various shows were very well worth seeing and also in the enclosures was often an employee who could tell even more with questions. Here is currently being rebuilt.
A leisurely fun place to go. Not overwhelmingly large. Beautiful birds, seals and other zoo animals. Also a children's petting zoo that is delightful. Places to eat, walk and sit and enjoy a great New York City day.
The zoo is nice. There are a few species of animals but the zoo concept is more like child friendly.
Great place to take the kids ..going back soon for another visit with the family
A small zoo in the middle of the city that never sleeps. You don't need a whole day there just about 3 hours are more than enough. There aren't any good places to eat nearby but you have the whole world's cuisines at your fingers so please don't eat the hot dogs or the fried cafeteria food that usually come standard at the zoos
Very great location with the cutest animals! Highly recommend
Very nice place to spend time with kids. A clean and tidy zoo. Not particularly big but satisfying.
Fabulous, much more than I expected from a small zoo.
My daughter's opinion, I was waiting under the umbrella: a cool but small zoo, animals have very small catwalks and one more thing, the zoo has nothing to do with the Penguins from Madagascar.
Was pretty, went around Christmas time. Seen a drug deal but hey it's the city so nothing is strange
Kinda small, and when they close off half the place for Covid it hardly seems worth it
Fun place for kids and adults, from exotic birds to sea life.
Did the whole park adult and kids in 1.5hrs...was perfect. If you go on a weekday toddlers can walk around at their leisure.
The Central Park Zoo is a great place for all ages. I went with a friend, and we had loads of fun! However, there were rats running around at one spot where there were supposed to be animals. We did not like that since we can see rats anytime in the subway. We came to the zoo to see new animals.
EDIT: after the 2nd trip, I take back a star. I came back (because of a free visit voucher after filling out a survey). They refused to use the free voucher that my acquaintance had, despite the fact that my acquaintance had filled the survey out. A worker suggested she take the survey again, which worked. Thank you to that worker (her name was Simonie).
Recommended for all ages. The tour starts at beautiful, airy and unique Central Park, the park itself already has lots of activities and beautiful places to visit. The zoo is really cool, everything is very well maintained and safe. At the entrance, there is no reminder of the cartoon "The Penguins of Madagascar".
The exhibits and critters are well cared for. It's nice and would be exceptional to view the contentment in the creatures. Some areas are overwhelming with people, greasy fingerprints, and exhausting tourist confusion, but the animals seem well cared for and the maintenance is nice.
Wonderful respite from the business of the city, IN the city!
Its a great place to take children for they can have fun.
Summer Sunday Afternoon quick attraction. Food is very expensive spent more on food than tickets for 2. Still nice distraction for my 5 yr old. Lots of tourist. Some locals.
Well cared for, but beyond small frustrates expectations as there are no lions, giraffes or hippos. Now where am I going to get a picture with Alex ????
Reasonable admission fee. Variety of beautiful animals.
It was my first visit to a zoo. I was fascinated, except for the monkeys: they were the only melancholy animals. For the rest it is phenomenal, to see birds that go around with visitors and are not locked up in cages or behind glass is really beautiful.
A fun zoo at a great price. Come and see a snow leopard, grizzly bear, penguins, sea lions and a large assortment of monkeys right in the middle of manhattan.
PARENTS AND CHILDREN YOU MUST COME HERE!
This place has a magical feeling when your at the Central Park Zoo. The zoo has different frogs, monkey and you can see the sea lion show. Afterwards, if you have time you can walk around to see the rest of the Central Park.
If you have 15 mins you should check out the 4D RIO movie segment. It cost $7 but worth your time and money.
Very cool .... not great .... mad damn it's central park .... in the middle of Manhattan!
Great walk for those who go to Central Park ...
Obviously it is spectacular and the few animals that are there are impeccable. But it is a Zoo small and with few emotions. The entrance is worth more than one expects. Better to save it for the end of the trip and if there are enough coins to do it.
A wonderful arrangement focusing its limited space on spacious accommodations for a few selected species and environments - snow leopards, grizzly bears, penguins, tropical species... Very child/family friendly!
Great family experience. We met a "bubble artists", climed on statues and had a great day
Perfect for a toddler's day out. It's a small zoo and very easy to navigate. The bears, the peacock, the owl and the sea lion show were the highlights for us. There's also a petting zoo which is fun for kids (make sure to wash hands thoroughly after).
Avoid the 5D experience - the glasses are wrinkled, lines can be long and it's just not worth it for 10 minutes of a story that makes no sense (we saw the Ice Age show).
a small zoo in downtown manhattan, groomed animals! really liked the red panda (I did not know that they exist) funny bears coming straight to the glass, they smoke and snoop into the water! That s great!
Nice little zoo to check out! Do not miss the penguin and seal feeding!
Zoo is too small, not worth the price .. You can stay there for an hour
Great plave to bring young children. O ly con is that. Tou have to leave stroller outside amd have to carry young babies lot of walkimg so have comfortable shoes
Amazing little zoo in the middle of this bubbling metropolis
The child is delighted, a lot of animals, live in excellent conditions. The pavilion of the tropics is beyond praise.
Greatest park in Manhattan. The kids love climbing on the rocks. There is a zoo, trails, ice skating, rides and more. Enter through 59th street. There is a lot more activities near the south end of the park.
Fun visit, but it keaves the visitor used to zoos wanting more.
The last time I went was on a hot day, hence the animals weren't too active, exceot fkr the aquatic ones. Be warry of the temperature.
Big giftshop and easy to find everything with the map provided.
Been here so many times and always love coming back. Its best when the kids are little, because relatively small. But, it sure brings back memories to our own childhoods and also there is so much to do in the immediate area. Highly recommend!
The only place in New York that is not magic. Caged animals unpleasant smell is not worth the detour.
Small and a lot of animals were not out when we visited. It was closed off. For the price... not worth it.
