The Callaway House

My experience with Callaway has been amazing since coming to UT. It is an absolutely amazing place to live and I recommend it to everyone.

This review is for the PARENTS of prospective residents at Callaway. You would think that paying between $20,000 to $30,000 "per year" (depending on the floor plan you choose) for this place that you would receive top-notch service from the people who run Callaway. Alas, that has NOT been my experience. Callaway is a well-oiled machine designed to get you in the door and sign that lease. Once you've done that, the machine falls apart. Their website for paying bills and managing your account are horrid. They're responsiveness to inquiries is non-existent. The "staff" that work there are kids working for subsidized rent and they have no autonomy to help you. What they do have is attitude. So be prepared to go all Karen on them if you need anything. But then again, I think most of the residents are children of Karen so the staff is pretty numb to verbal abuse from the entitled.

Living at the callaway house has been the best experience of my life. But what makes my time here better is our RA, Evan. He s more than just an RA, he s a friend. I wish everyone could be a little more like Evan.

the Callaway House is a fine establishment to live at, everything about it is fantastic. But, I d have to say that the RA Evan is the best part of Callaway, he really makes you feel at home at this home away from home. he s a super nice guy with a big heart, if you don t live at callaway- and more specifically don t know evan, you are seriously missing out.

The Callaway House is the best place for a UT student to live for their freshman year. The location is close to campus, the building has great amenities and the dining hall always comes through with some good food.

Callaway was absolutely the best place to live freshman year. The floor plans allow for a good amount of privacy, the amenities are insanely nice, and the food in the cafe is way better than anything I ve had on campus. Would definitely recommend!!

The Callaway house is a cool place to live. It's close to campus which is convenient and the food is pretty good! Right now there is a lot of construction going on which is a little annoying, but that's the only con. The study rooms are really nice and the staff is super friendly and fun.

First of all, I have to say how much I love living at Callaway. The food is great, it is safe, and it is in a perfect location. My favorite part about callaway is the RA s. My favorite RA is Evan no doubt. He always ensures that everyone is having a wonderful experience at callaway. He is hard working and a great employee!

Best place to live freshman year. Closest you can get to school without having to live on campus. You can choose to live in a room with someone else to get a dorm-like experience but with the luxury of being in an apartment with its own cafe and meal plan. Lots of places to hang and a cool rooftop pool and workout room.

Callaway House is much better than just your "home away from home". Undoubtedly, Callaway is like the Ritz-Carlton or Four Seasons of student housing and dormitory at UT Austin. The property is well maintained with a modern look. Callaway's staff work tirelessly to ensure the spotless floors and clean carpets throughout the building. The elevators are fast and never out of operation, unlike other West Campus properties. The lobby staff and RA's put in long shifts from 8-10 and after hour on-calls to meet resident requests. The staff and management are always friendly and polite, going above and beyond to ensure your satisfaction. The dining hall serves quality fresh and healthy food that is tiers above what is found on campus. The atmosphere is very safe with 1 point of entry that has controlled access manned by guards at night. Callaway is also very convenient, being only 1 block away from campus. The covered garage has spacious spots that fit full size trucks easier than most places. The amenities like the game room, theater, swimming pool, gym, and study rooms are also very useful. Overall, the premium cost of living at Callaway is well worth it in my experience.

Great place to live. Really well secured. Way nicer than any other competition hands down. Like a resort for 18 year olds

If you get locked out of your room it cost $75 to get INTO YOUR ROOM. If it takes you longer than 5 minutes to find a spot in the parking garage then its a $25 fine. You can not go from the parking garage to you room directly even with a fob. All of the hallways smell like wet dog. They promise a maid service once a week that came to my room twice last semester. However, I would give this place 0 starts, but the night staff is awesome. There is a guy who works at the front desk named Eli who is AWESOME. The security guard who works at night does make you feel safe at nights.

I would definitely advise living here, 10/10. Theres a great sense of community, nice facilities, and the staff is great.

Absolutely amazing accommodations, with so many fun, useful amenities, as well as spacious, private, yet connected living spaces would give this place a 7/5 if I could. 10/10 would stay again, They put Dobie 2021 to shame.

Very clean and nice amenities- i love the convenience of the gym and the printing center. The food at the cafeteria is usually good, but bad on weekends because they tend to serve leftovers. I love my room and they have housekeeping services on fridays. The location is super close to campus too. The price is very expensive, however.

Honestly the callaway house is probably one of the worst places to live at, unless you want to feel like your living with a 2nd set of parents. Unfortunately here at the callaway they find a way to fine you for anything possible, which indeed is pretty annoying. Rather than fixing their elevators or fulfilling the requests of the residents to fix certain things in the apartments they would much rather try to take advantage of you and perhaps take your money with a extra fine.What i m trying to get across here is that the management here is completely sorry and sad and you should definitely not consider living here in the future.

I hesitate to even put one star but that is the lowest choice. My son did not even live here. This review is based on the RIDICULOUS amount of money Callaway keeps when you apply for housing here and DON'T get into UT. You get $100 dollars back. They keep $350. I was just told on the phone that Callaway "uses this money to cover the employee cost during the period of time it takes them on this laborious task of assigning rooms". Really? WOW! JUST WOW!

very clean living environment with friendly staff. location is perfect in relation to campus, would highly recommend to any incoming freshman. as callaway is a great place to meet people :)

So I'm not a college student, but my camp during the summer uses Callaway as a place to stay and let me tell you this place is so nice. They offer many different types of dorms and no matter what room you have it comes with a full size fridge and microwave in the common area. Callaway also has a gym (kinda small but still great!), pool, gaming room, and T.V room as well. It also has a pretty decent size parking garage. And the dining hall has the some of the best food I've ever had, but if your not up for that many restaurants are within a short walks reach, and CVS and Target are nearby as well.

I live on floor 15 in Callaway and it s basically a coin flip whether I will get to my floor or have to take the stairs. The management is completely incompetent and basically a new set of parents who carefully watch you. The wifi cuts out at the worst times and the food is very mediocre. It would be a fine place to live if the people working there would just leave me alone and fix all the broken things.

I have taken a tour of this place and I already love it! I will be living here when it opens and I can't wait! The staff is very friendly and this place is easily one of the nicest dorms in the United States and I'm not exaggerating one bit. You HAVE to see this place for yourself!

I stayed at the callaway house for my freshmen year in Austin during 2019 and the staff was very helpful, I was paired with 2 really cool suite mates and got to have my best friend of 9 years as my roommate. I stayed there for the first semester and had to leave during winter break due to financial problems. My parents paid in full for the dorm, but I did not stay there at all the 2nd semester and refuse to refund my parents there $11,000 for the 2nd semester. This shouldn t not be a problem for anyone. This really isn t a place students are going to love living if the management is going to steal money from the parent s of students when they re not even living there.

I currently live in the Callaway Dorms in Austin, and its overall great. The cons living here though is the security here is defiantly strict so i wouldn't even try anything, the elevators suck! you will more then likely have to wait 10+ minutes for one, and the cafeteria is never open on time and people end up having to wait outside the doors till it opens. Other than that i would certainly recommend this dorm to any incoming college freshman.

I love living at the Callaway House Austin! It's 100 times better than your average dorm room, and the amenities (food, cleaning service, and maintenance) are great. The staff is so friendly and welcoming, and I always feel safe within this building. I would definitely recommend joining the awesome community at the Callaway House Austin!

Very nice rooms. It has everything you could need and even more for a typical freshman.

Evan was so patient snd helpful. He took the time to answer questions, show us all the areas, and provide accurate information. He was flexible with our situation and worked with our throughout our visit!

The Callaway House has outstanding facilities. The gym is the perfect size and has just the right equipment, while the theatre has great resolution and surround sound. The Callaway kitchen staff are always incredibly friendly and kind (especially Carlisa, AJ, Katherine, Kevin, and Sandy). The only thing that Callaway is lacking is a sense of community. The residents are not very friendly and if you are not already part of their clique you end up eating alone. That being said, if you do not mind the very "keep to yourself" community, I highly recommend.

The callaway house is awesome!! They have really good CA's (the room monitors) who are ALWAYS willing to help. Personally, my CA (Jack) is the BOMB. The food is good (especially the grilled chicken), and the layout of the rooms are just the right amount of space. That is saying a lot coming from me because before I came I was freaking out about the closet size, which ended up being perfect. 10/10 recommendation.

As a student who currently resides in Callaway, I would compare it to a prison. I have many friends who live in Callaway, and we all constantly discuss how much we despise this place. I would NEVER recommend this as a place for freshman living. The manager, Kyle Buckley, is an incredibility unreasonable employee. They will fine you for almost anything including a candy rapper falling out of your backpack.

The Callaway House Austin is hands down the best place to live freshman year! Along with one of the best locations an off campus private dorm can have, the luxury of having our own dining hall (unlike other residence halls on campus) across a breezeway is SUPER convenient, especially their flexible dining options (to-go sack lunch, late plate)! I always come "home" for lunch between my classes. Also, all of the hardworking staff (front desk, CAs (s/o to the coolest CA, Jack), kitchen, maintenance, and cleaning crew) are super nice, helpful, and are a pleasure to interact with! You'll love it here!

I am so grateful to have chosen to live at Callaway. There are many options to choose from when deciding where to live, but choosing Callaway was the best choice I could have made for myself. The receptionists, including Katie, and the CA s, including Caroline and Evan, are absolutely wonderful. Most of the friends I ve made at school have been from living here, and the facilities are amazing. Thank you, Callaway, for an amazing first year!

The Callaway House is a great environment for UT students. The rooms are nice and spacious, the staff are all friendly, and there is a diverse group of students that live here.

great place to live!!! Leo is the sole reason people like this place, otherwise it would go under. Leo singlehanded you runs the world of Callaway house, he even cooks the exquisite tastings in the kitchen!!!

is there a reason none of the washer or dryers work regardless of the number of times you submit a maintenance request

Wonderful amenities and the security as well as front desk staff is very well trained and equipped to answer any request! I love the 24-hour gym and the food plan is very flexible. The cafeteria food is delicious as well and offers a variety of foods that cater to any need. There are also lovely study spots all over Callaway, and we love using the theatre as a get together place for my sorority.

Where to start... I've been mistakenly fined for someone else's wrong doing so I scheduled a meeting and I still had to pay the fine! There is no reasoning with upper management when it comes to matters like these. Upper management told me they're doing me a favor for letting me live here and for fining me. On top of all of the fines your child will inevitably receive they charge a convenience fee, as if its inconvenient for them to take your money... On top of the fees it take about 15 mins to get from your car to your room every time and the staff and RAs are incredibly awkward. If I could do freshman year over I'd live somewhere way better like towers or villas for half of the cost.

Callaway is an awesome place to stay the first year of coming to UT. I was close to campus and around many other freshmen. The rooms are nice, but the cafeteria is not the best. There is many hit or miss days; but I can always find something to eat. Def recommend for first years!
