Great character that brings you back in time. The rooms are clean enough. My room was on the 8th floor. The Brown is a good choice for a conference/seminar and has walking access to some attractions and restaurants.

The over-the-top lavishness of this hotel is not to be missed!

Genuinely caring staff. They are THE BEST.

Do not leave this hotel without trying the Hot Brown, their signature dish. Even better, stay for brunch on Sunday morning. Probably THE most lavish brunch I ve ever seen. Leave room for the bread pudding with caramel/bourbon sauce: it s decadent.

We absolutely love this hotel, this is our 14th year anniversary and my wonderful husband planned this surprise weekend getaway for us.
The hotel is gorgeous and was first established in 1923 so the architectural details are divine.
I am disabled and part of a working team. Upon checking I usually like to inform the front desk of my Service Animal. I was surprised that they said there was a Per Policy I had to sign. It was stating that they do not allow pets and only service animals which makes sense so far. I was taken back by them asking me to PROVE he was an actual service animal...mainly since it is in violation of the ADA! After I replied I do have a registration ID # and a letter I carry from the government deeming me permanently disabled, but tried to infor Susan E. That she shouldn't ask for any type of ID or certification because there is not any office standard place controlled by the government to get such "Proof"
There are however hundreds of websites selling service animal items to any and all who have internet and a credit card. So I tried to explain while I understand her confusion if she would should look up ADA laws. She the said most people bring a note from a doctor! I said they could offer to give it
To you but you can not ASK for it to prove...she said the hotels attorney had written up said contracts and made a face like they know more than me. I agree I am not lawyer I told her she should should look up what i am saying or speak to a district manager because this is a very rude, disrespectful, embarrassing way to handle this situation. Not to mention it is discriminating and illegal.
I also would like to mention this is no small hotel...it is 4 diamond rated!
The worst part is I was calming trying to educate and inform her and she would just cut me off and talk over me. She was pre judging me before I was given a chance to speak! I
Feel it was necessary to mention I am not mad at this situation just disappointed that such a sophisticated
properly ran and historically known aren't able to use proper Service Animal etiquette!

Personally, I don t feel like this hotel warrants the price tag. It feels like a place that people pay for so that they can tell their friends that they stayed at The Brown Hotel to prove they have a decent bank account. The room is very small. The bathroom is large, but dated and the shower head is very low. I would think for the money they could give us decent soap and shampoo... nope. The decor is old and paint is peeling everywhere. The TV in the room is quite small, no sofa or eating area. Literally a beat up mini fridge just sitting on the floor by the window. It feels very old fashioned and if you like older architecture you ll probably love it. I ve stayed at a Marriott for half the price with much nicer finishes and amenities. The staff was very pleasant and the bathrobe is nice... pretty much the only positives I can think of though I did not eat or drink on site. I feel like the people this hotel is made for are not the type of people reading the Google reviews... again they just want to tell their friends that they stayed at the Brown Hotel.

WORST HOTEL EVER!!!!! The room was so small, the bed was broke down!!!! Awful pillows! Everything in the room was VERY out dated!! Had to pay 20 dollars to self park at the hotel!!! Couldn't even get the hotel to get me a shuttle from the kfc yum center when they said that they would be able to pick me up from there earlier that day! The hotel said that picking up from the air port was their first priority! After I was done told that they would pick me up. Therefore had to walk a mile in rain back to the hotel!!! Outrageous food prices! No vending machines worked in the building! Worst experience ever! Best western is better than this awful place!! Will NEVER stay there again!!!!!!!!

The staff is very friendly and helpful. Your drink stays full. The price is average , you get what you pay for. The food is amazing and delicious. I definitely recommend checking them out if you have never been and the hot brown and derby pie is worth it.

I travel for a living and this hotel is top notch in service, food and comfort. From the second you get on the hotel van, to check in, to service in the lounges and restaurants, everything is impeccable service. I am in the service industry and I adore staying here because whether I'm just picking up an order on my way out the door or having an evening sampling burbon, it is always stellar service.

The Brown Hotel is one of the best hotels in Louisville. As a historic hotel, you can expect the hotel to be traditional with fine furniture rather than modern. The dining is exceptional but prepare to dress appropriately and savor your meal. You must have a Hot Brown at the Brown Hotel. Delicious.

Excellent hotel with great amenities and fantastic service. The bar is impressive, the dinner restaurant was very classy and the breakfast restaurant has a great Sunday brunch. The rooms are very clean and has a nice classic feel. It can get noisy when there is a wedding so try to get on a high floor. Valet is only slightly higher than self park and the area is busy so I do recommend it. Look for online booking site where you are likely to find a much better deal.

I really liked this hotel. Reminded me of the Vernon Manor in Cincinnati. Classic old luxury hotel with a lot of great history. Will repeat and get the KY hot brown. Wish I had taken some pics of the room. Next time I suppose.

Best place we've stayed in Louisville. Can't wait to return. All the charm and elega a couple could ask for. There is a sense of old world charm that has been lost in modern building. You can find it revived here
Enjoy a full menu in the grande lobby, while listening to locals on the baby grand. Food is very good, service is great also. The hotel is under priced for what it offers

The Brown is a piece of history. It's easy access to everything downtown and very tastefully decorated. The rooms are a little on the small size but plenty big enough so I didn't feel cramped. Everything is moderately upgraded with outlets, working WiFi (slow, but good enough for light use), plenty of (pokey, but running) elevators, etc. I found the service in Louisville as a town to be grandly lacking. Most Southern cities have caught on. They don't seem to have. The Brown has better service than most of the restaurants and event spaces there that I experienced, so by Louisville standards I guess it's pretty good. By my normal standards it's poke-your-eye-out-with-a-pencil slow and daft. I worked and managed in the service industry for a while and I found myself thinking I'd fire pretty much every bartender and server. Without experiencing the town I would've thought the service at The Brown was quaint and painfully lagging. With the whole experience, I'm glad that at least they had decent service. I attended a wedding as part of my stay and I felt like it was their first ever wedding on site. Do try the Hot Brown at the restaurant. It's the local tradition that they invented. Even if you're a healthy eater, consider splitting it with someone as it's very heavy. Delicious, but the kind of thing you need a nap after.
