We came here as a part of a wine tour and it was AWFUL! They took us to the backyard, and brought us beer and put it on a barrel. There were no seats or an umbrella or a table that they could serve us. It was 30 degrees outside and there was no shade! We had to stand there under the sun. We were so hungry we ordered 2 cheese platters which literally was 2 pieces of brie and some crackers and we had that on top on the barrel, and they charged us $40 for it!
This was the worst experience I ve ever had! The backyard had potential to turn it into a nice place for customers to sit, but I guess they didn t want to put in the effort!

This past weekend, we hosted our wedding rehearsal dinner at the brewery. When we originally were looking for a location to have the rehearsal dinner, we knew right away, the event coordinator, Kathryn, was someone we could trust to organize the event. We were coming from out of town so all the planning had to be done over email and phone. We can't say enough about her - she was so patient, kind and incredibly helpful. When you plan a wedding it's so nice to have a vendor you don't have to babysit, and the exchange brewery was one of those vendors. The event space is beautiful, so it required no additional decor - and she even helped recommend catering vendors too.
The night was amazing and the weather was nice enough that we were able to enjoy the private balcony too. We hired Niagara Gourmet Catering for the food and they also did a fabulous job.

Thank you all so much!! To the bartenders, and all the staff - you all did so so amazing and we are so happy we chose to host our event there. Thank you!

Interesting selection of sprints. They offer tasting "plank" that allows you to pick 3 sprints to sample. The bar staff are really efficient and helpful. There are some displays that explain how the sprints are made. Well worth visiting if you are in the area.

A gem located in the heart of Niagara on the Lake if Craft beer is your thing this is a must stop. The historic building was one of the first phone company's in Canada and The Exchange pays homage to the History in several ways. My taste tester fell in love with the fantastic flavors that are brewed on site. The layout is very unique and you can watch the process in action from below or above. The staff was fantastic and our host Andrew was a pleasure . Very friendly and professional . A asset indeed! Very impressed how they utilized a small space to create so much ! Highly recommended if your a beer lover or into some local NIAGARA History

I have been in about four times and love the beer here.

My only negative comment would be that the staff were not very friendly.

I usually stop in during the day and been the only one at the bar.

I would have thought maybe they would have paid attention rather than just poor the beer and talk amongst themselves.

Some explanations of the beer, maybe ask what I thought and made some recommendations.

Hidden gem on the main strip! Amazing beer, fantastic service, surprisingly good prices and cool decor. As craft breweries go, these guys know what they're doing. Unlike most craft/micro breweries with very limited selections, this place has something for everyone

This used to be a telephone exchange back in the day (hence the name). All the beers are presented on a rotary phone-type slab with numbers. Some of the beers were good (I recommend the Bill Nye PA) but for the most part it seems as if they tried to make every single type of beer and it didn't all pay off. Interesting layout though.

Tried a few of their beers, sours ("Pi Day"), porter, winter Weiss - and they all really fell short. I've enjoyed a number of new craft breweries, this one surprisingly fell short on product quality. May be time to head back to the drawing board.

Server was really nice, never got her name, and got the opportunity to try a few different releases. Tried the beer nuts, not bad. Worth a visit if you're looking for a break from wine within walking distance.

We had three beers here. Not one of them was good. A Belgian stout, brewed with candy crystals, sounded promising but was really disappointing. It was sour, despite there being no mention of this on the tasting notes, and had none of the characteristics one would expect of a Belgian stout. The black lager was also incredibly sour and had a really nasty odour and aftertaste. The third beer, the only one which was supposed to be sour, was also unpleasant.

The barman asked us how they were and we said we were surprised with how sour the the stout and the lager were. He said words to the effect of 'well, you did choose 3 sour beers'. We hadn't.

I can't help wondering if the wild yeasts and bacteria used in their sour beers had infected their other beers too. Strongly recommend avoiding this place, especially given the extortionate prices.

Absolute stop anytime I'm in Niagara on the lake. There patio is small but really beautiful and peaceful. Their beer selection is absolutely spectacular. The menu although small is delicious. Can't wait to come back.

Beer wasn't the greatest...but it was an experience to try out when you're in the area. We were seated outside in the rain with no cover and these metal, uncomfortable chairs beside the air con or something electrical. Eventually we were asked if we wanted to move under a covered area. Experience is not over the top. Just go in, order what you want and don't expect anything more.

My friend and I are locals to the area and decided to check out The Brewery for the first time. Upon arrival we decided to sit on the patio upstairs, which only had another table seated. The waitress took our order and subsequently forgot about us while she had seated and served another table. We sat there for 20mins at which point no one had come up to us or brought us our drinks. So we decided to leave, on our way out we let our waitress know that we hadn t received our beers and we were leaving. She was surprised and had clearly forgotten that we were there. I would hate to see this place if it was busy.

Great beer, great food and the dogs on the patio makes it even more fun. Our server was incredible, served our dogs water like 4 times throughout the afternoon and was so sweet to us despite our 2 Great Dane puppies being all over her.

We stopped by 10/4/19 for a light night beer. It was very cold night, but the staff was very warm and inviting. There was a guy playing guitar (wish I could name him), who was incredibly entertaining. He played a variety of songs including Harry Nilsson. We had the porter and loved it. A couple who stayed in the same house mentioned that they went the next day and loved the BBQ. Wish I was there earlier cuz I love smoked meat. This is a nice alternative to the wineries.

This craft brewery is absolutely amazing! I have tried many of their beers and all of them have been very good.

Golden ale, New England IPA - These have been two of my favorites.

I highly recommend giving them a try. They have a limited selection in some of the supermarket retailers (Fortinos, etc...).

It's really good!

Went here for sushi Sunday with my boyfriend while we were on break. Sushi was great but service was terrible. My boyfriend was here another time and said the service wasn t great either but decided to give them another chance. Disappointed.

This is a greta place in Niagara-on-the-Lake. I highly recommend the Helles beer. Very crisp and as near as I have had to a real German Helles, from any Ontario craft brewery. They also have a good Reuben sandwich (forget the "Reuben sauce" and have it with the local artisinal mustard- MUCH better! Thay was recommended by our server- Alex who was very knowledgeable of the food and beverages on the menu.

I am disappointed to say that I did not enjoy any of the beers that I had sampled at this brewery. I am an avid beer drinker who enjoys a variety of different brews, however, I did not enjoy or was impressed by any of the 4 types of beer that I tried.

Nice place. One host was super nice, but "neck-beard" was a dick. He totally ignored us and talked to a couple that came in behind us. The beers are not bad. Not amazing! If you think so, you probably like Bud Light. Need some fine tuning to differentiate between them. Not really bad though. Liked the peppercorn. Pretentious! Better places down the road.

Would have given more stars but it seems u have to buy 1 of their special growlers to take their beer home. Man lots of lost sales there. Like I need growlers from places I go to once a year. The peppercorn saison was exceptional. I would have filled 2 64 ounce growlers with it. Other than that prices are the same as everyone else's for taster flights.

The staff are the only thing good about this place, the beer......great favor for about two seconds then look out, it's like drinking out of lake Ontario, if you know anything about small brewery's just head over Silversmith Brewery you will not be disappointed.

Super friendly staff, great atmosphere both inside and out. Our server, pretty sure his name was Paul, was amazing, extremely knowledgeable, he regularly checked to see how we liked the selection of beer and apps and really helped make it a great evening.

We will definitely be visiting here again next time we're in the area.

Went here on a wine/beer tour. Was so disappointed with the service we received. We were expected to sit shoulder to shoulder with other people on the tour that were not in our social circle. We politely said we would be ok standing... to which the waiter said we needed to sit. He was so rude and made me feel so uncomfortable. As much as I felt pressured to sit at a table with strangers (which I would be not wearing a mask as we would be sampling the beer) we did not cave and refused to sit. My group were the only ones in the tour who took covid safety into mind and I thought we would have to leave our tour group but then another waitress offered to seat us at our own table. Our experience was awful, Our original waiter was very unkind and I would not recommend this place unfortunately. They were not practising covid precautions for wine/beer tours and I hope to never feel that way again at a brewery.

Mediocre beers which is fine as you won t find anything better without driving 10 mins to oast but the service is the real negative. Bar tender acted like we were inconveniencing her and we were the only people there. They should spend less time stocking merchandise that nobody wants and focus on providing customers with a good experience.

Edit: I changed my review to 3 stars as the owner did indeed reach out and try to make it right. Did not change the fact that it put a damper on our day but the effort is appreciated.

Went here on a wine/beer tour this past weekend. Showed up with a group of 10 people and expected to be social distancing while tasting beer. They took our temperature before going into the brewery so we though that they would be following all of the guidelines. They had a small table for 10 set up, with no more than 2 feet between chairs. These were random people we were in the tour with and were not going to put ourselves and our families at risk and not social distance, especially without our masks on while we tasted beer. My friend and I decided we would stand at the end of the table so we could still be part of the group but to help us feel safe. We were told by a waiter to sit down on the two chairs at the end of the table because we were in the way. We would definitely not be 6 feet away from the other people at the table if we did. We said we were not comfortable sitting there as they are not in our social circle. We were then directed outside on the patio where my friend and I had our own table. Very disappointed that we were expected to sit that close to someone during a global pandemic and as if we were inconveniencing the because we were choosing to follow the rules(the law). We will not be returning here, especially not during a global pandemic. It s upsetting to see this as the numbers of covid 19 are surging in the second wave.

The EX was such an AWESOME find! This place is a total gem- great staff, lots of beer options (no they don't serve liquor or wine, they're a brewery) and they have some pretty awesome events! We were in NOTL in January, and looking for something fun on a night out- we attended a comedy show and it was GREAT! The lineup was a great variety of comics, and our tickets included a beer (for less than $20pp!). Mind you, the layout isn't exactly ideal; very intimate (like enough room for 30 people and that would be a crowd) but great nonetheless; the entertainment was upstairs and i didnt notice any accessibility if you're in a wheelchair etc. the washrooms on the main floor also seem super small for a chair, so if you need assistance I would call them and confirm or check their site for accessibility? The main bar area on the main floor is a super vibe though- very up-scale/posh/modern for a brewery (90% of the ones i've been to are country/rustic) and ONNNN BRRAANNDDDD omg these guys have marketing nailed; their brand is cool, their black an moden transfers from their logo to their merch to their building to their cans and growlers- love love love. Would totally return. They also have an outdoor patio and 2nd bar (also upstairs) which I can imagine is very chill in the summer.

The beer was good, but the service could use some attention. After arriving and being directed upstairs because the main level bar was full, we sat and waited to be acknowledged. We were the only table inside and could hear the two servers standing only a few feet away at the bar discussing who should serve us with neither taking accountability. We were about to leave when we were approached, but it felt like we were an inconvenience.

I dont give five stars to just anyone. This place was great. The bartender/server was definitely informative and knowledgeable about the products sold here. A group of us went for paint night upstairs had a blast. A must go to place when browsing around at Niagara-on-the-Lake

My husband and I visited this brewery for the first time while staying in Niagara-on-the-lake. We didn't even know it existed but my husband loves craft beer and we thought we'd give it a try. As soon as we walk in, there is a warm and friendly smile welcoming us. We ordered an IPA because that was familiar to us, the girl takes the time to explain to us why this particular IPA is different and more complex than a traditional IPA. We were skeptical but so amazed by the experience. She was very knowledgeable and actually took the time to explain the process as well as the result. She also really cared about us enjoying what we were drinking and our experience. I've never seen my husband thank anyone at a bar for their knowledge and explanations, but he did, many times. He even asked her name, which was Linda, and almost a week later, he's still talking about how nice and friendly she was.

So many unique takes on traditional styles of beer. Loved all 8 i had on my flight and walked away with some from the bottle shop. So glad we stopped by. It was actually a recommended stop by two other breweries in Niagara.

Very basic experience. Did not feel like I was informed about the beers. I asked about Sours, was told they had one.... minutes later, read on their special feature menu that they had 2 more sours.
I don t think I should have to research then offerings of an establishment when I m already in it. Disappointed I the customer service and also the cost. Higher that most breweries.
