A big Thank You to The Barley Neck for hosting one of my favorite local bands, Chandler Travis Three-O, for an outdoor social distanced music concert Sunday evening!

What a wonderful spot to celebrate our parent's lives! My sisters and I planned a memorial service for our parents at their former church and wanted a happy hour following the service where we could gather to share stories with friends and family. We worked with the new owner, Ashley, on the menu and set up of the private room. Since we were out-of-towners and making the arrangements via email, we were a little worried how everything would turn out. But we were in great hands. The food was fabulous, including the amazing decorative carvings, the staff was great, and everyone had a great time. Thank you, BNI, for adding to our wonderful memories of being with our parents on the Cape!

Fresh food and great service, but 3 of 4 dishes were under seasoned. My claim chowder desperately needed more salt and the sauce on the sole was not as flavorful as I would expect a lemon sauce to be. Go with the fish and chips. They were sliced so thin with a very thin batter that didn't over power the fish.

Matt and his new culinary team hit it out of the park (again) today with a wonderful Easter Sunday dinner (take out, for now). We both had the roast leg of lamb, beautifully prepared and seasoned. It came with a to-die-for potatoes au gratin (so flavorful but not at all salty) and wonderfully roasted carrots. We are so happy that the Barley Neck is still cooking during this pandemic crisis, and so grateful that they dedicated their Easter morning to work for those of us lucky enough to be nearby!

This was my first time getting food here and it was curbside or delivery only. First off....whoever changed the menu.... BRAVO. The reason why I ve never been here before was because the food selection was not family friendly. Good food is good food. It doesn t need to be overly complicated or try to be high end. My first impression was with the person that answered the phone. He was extremely friendly and you could tell he enjoyed what he was doing. I even had to call back to add dessert onto the order. The young woman who delivered the food was also delightful. She wore her mask and was socially distant. On to the food.... so I ordered the linguine with meatballs for my son. I think our family of 3 could have just eaten that. There must have been an entire pound of delicious pasta and four sizable moist and tasty meatballs. My boyfriend got the Caesar salad with steak. After ordering it delivery my boyfriend thought it might arrive soggy. The lettuce was extremely crisp and the anchovies were packed separately as was the steak. The steak was tender and flavorful. I had the chicken piccata. It was fantastic. The sauce had just enough lemon. The pappardelle pasta was wonderful and the chicken was tender. The whole dinner was a home run!!! The staff is doing a great job here especially during a time of many unknowns. The Barley Neck has adapted to a new time with new challenges.

Twenty five cent wing Wednesday. Can't beat it. The buffalo wings are expertly prepared (no breading; nice and crispy) and seasoned. Pair them with your favorite beer, and it's a perfect mid week night out.

My husband and I went here recently with another couple who are real foodies. I had the crab cakes and Thai shrimp and both were delicious. My husband has to dine gluten free and the staff were very understanding of his needs.
I do not recall that the service was slow. Everyone liked their food. This place is cozy and romantic in the winter, so it's also a nice place for couples. I like the variation on their menu, not confined to the typical New England dishes. We'll go back again I'm sure.

I wish I could give this place 10 stars. They have the best fish and chips I have ever tasted, even before I had to go gluten free. Their sweet potato fries are amazing and are also the best I have ever tasted. Most of the menu is gluten free. The chef has celiacs and is very careful about cross contamination.

Chicken was excellent. Wine (red) choices were on the low end. The one thing that really annoyed me was the $26 dollar scallop app that arrived with only 3 small scallops. I don t mind spending money on food, wine or experiences (and do regularly!) but the feeling of getting ripped off ruins the rest of my meal.

Great food and service! Their set up at the bar is safe and comfortable, and the $10 burger night on Thursdays and half price apps are SO reasonable, it's hard to resist just cooking at home. Thanks for staying open and feeding us good food all through the winter! Keep it going!

Updated 2019 - had hair in a dish. Sure, they took it off the bill, but we've been coming here for years and it just isn't the same as it has been in the past. Not sure we'd come back. So many other places in town are great and don't cost nearly as much. Like the Yardarm.

This place is terrible. The food is mediocre. They also changed the menu this year, and the only thing edible there is their burgers which are bad enough. The fish tastes like sawdust, the rice is cold, and the green beans are bland. The waiting staff is okay but the seating staff and the owner who always stands at the seating podium are both terrible. They are rude and will never apologize if they did not help your dinner situation. Last time I ate there I wanted to subtract the total price of my dinner instead of raising it with a tip.

I have eaten at the BNI many, many times as I live in the area. It has never let me down. The apps, salads, and entrees are all very good. The casual bar/dining area is my favorite because of the local, lively atmosphere. You are as likely to sit next to a local lifelong cape codder as you are a tourist from London. A great mix of well prepared food and lively company.

If you have a gluten issue, or any food allergy, Chef Will can accommodate your needs.
He is a celiac and the menu is 85% gluten free. The bar is really hopping on the weekends with live music.

Started out with the stuffed quahog, flavor was OK but the texture was mushy and undercooked, then I had the fish tacos They came in corn tortillas, no flavor, Under seasoned. We ve been coming to the Cape for the last 18 years and always loved Joes. Won t go back to BNI again. Such a shame

Ordered the 3 course meal (soup, sole, ice cream) for $18. The sole was not delicious at all. The dessert saved the day, though, but I had to remind the server to bring me my dessert (she forgot). The salmon was pretty good, though.
My wife and I have been coming to Cape Cod for yea...
My wife and I have been coming to Cape Cod for years, and we've come to The Barley Neck Inn at least once every year. Tonight was the last time for this yearly tradition. In past years, the food was always exceptional, tonight was very different.
For starters, the dishes were not clean. My water glass had lipstick on it, my wife's wine glass had some dried food on it and her salad plate did not look clean.
We each ordered soup to start, and it was okay. Nothing special, but decent. I ordered the turkey burger, and it was just not good. The burger and fries both tasted frozen and the burger was under seasoned and overcooked. My wife had a salad and crab cakes. The salad was very over dressed, her crab cakes had several pieces of shell in them, and the corn relish and crab were both clearly frozen, not fresh.
Overall, nothing tasted fresh, nothing was seasoned appropriately and our dishes weren't clean. This was a very disappointing experience, especially considering it's the one place on the cape that we've always made it a point to come to each year. Based on the re-branding, new menu, and the change from fresh to frozen food, "BNI" appears to be under new ownership.
On a positive note, our server was very good, and everyone was very friendly. Hardly enough to make it worth coming in though.

I am a regular customer at Joe's. I find the atmosphere friendly and fun. I usually ask for Nic as my waiter as he is curtious, friendly, makes sure the kitchen knows of my allergy, and always takes great care of myself and friends. I usually order the "chicken wings your way" with the pesto sauce, a Caesar salad, or the steak with Bernaise sauce. Friends have always enjoyed their meals and continue to come back with me. Kathi and Joe always welcome me and treat their regulars like family. This is my "go to" restaurant and I highly recommend it.

What is there to say except it is the best place in town for good food and a great atmosphere and Joe and Kathy ALWAYS come by and greet people with warm smiles!! Of course I am prejudice my daughter Liz is heading into her 15th year serving people at Joe's. And Jimbo, the bartender has to be in his 15h year as well. Doesn't that speak volumns?? .
Don't miss a meal at Joe's this summer......the old chef is back...more good news!!
