This place is so impressive! Quality museum, kid friendly, ample parking, well set out. $150 for family of four includes stockman show which sounds very expensive but if you've come all the way to Longreach, you may as well support a good local tourist stop. Friendly informative staff, food & drinks available, perfectly clean modern amenities. We were greeted at the entrance by Luna the dog & the most beautiful horse & rider which was a great touch! Across the road is the QANTAS aviation museum too.
Legendary museum good exhibits that needs update and more interactive experience
Great displays well worth the entry fee, outside the building is getting run down but we were told it is getting a tune up soon. Bushrangers are still very active in the area as a pie with peas is $19.00!! Dont expect to get a feed here without selling your car.
A great show well worth the extra money. Stockmans hall of fame very informative for the history of the region and the outback.
We really enjoyed our visit & loved showing our kids Australia's heritage! I loved explaining all the tools and methods used on the farms from my childhood!!
Excellent exhibitions good value and price spent all day there throughly recommend it to anybody
We thought very expensive $63 for two adults and thought average. Didnt stay long. Notwithstanding, we are both from farms and what we viewed, was what we grew up with. Others thought it was excellent that we talked to and enjoyed the reading and story's. Make your own decision.
Take note, you need to book beforehand.
The staff were friendly and welcomed us nicely and explained the layout and procedures. It was however, overpriced ($35) for what you got. The historical stuff is good and informative but a bit more modernisation is required and perhaps decent lighting as it is hard to see stuff. The 20min video was good, but it could be improved with some information on what is happening now and positive/negatives of the industry. If you are female, don t expect to buy a monogrammed pocket knife as only done for boys!
More of a outback common knowledge history than a hall of fame
Lots of information to read and historical artefacts. Mini videos for little kids
Very interesting with an incredible amount of history.
Great introduction to the early settlers of the region.
Wonderful museum/ displays / stories of art ur stockmen past. No colour, religion or political bias - just telling it how it was - And recognising our First Australian stockmen and women.
Love this place full of history etc and show is great
Found the lack of maps and brochures explaining the layout disappointing. With the live show unavailable, the whole experience was a little disappointing
Great place with plenty of things to see. Good displays in the museum section and the drivers show good. The whip maker was excellent.
What a thrill to have wild brolga's, (friendly and used to people), coming around to say g'day n have photos taken with them!!!
Just so impressed with the way everything was displayed and the Stockman show as excellent too.
Excellent entertainment. If staying a few days take the package deal at $99 which will give you the 11am show one day and the dinner and show with a different theme another night and anytime entry to the Stockmans hall of fame.
If an Akubra hat collector prces in Longreach are well below other hat stores visited..
Sincerely Henk Reinking
A must see attraction showcasing part of Australia's pioneering past.
Great to see how our pioneers coped in this wide brown land. I especially liked the recognition of the aboriginal people and the part they played. Although sad to see how they were treated and taken advantage of. So many of them worked for food only and no pay!
Reasonably priced entry fee.. you could be there 2 days.. very interesting place... alot to learn.. awesome.. I would go again
We have just revisited the Hall of Fame after 27 years. We were very disappointed in the lack of displays depicting the original purpose of the center. The lighting was very poor, making it impossible to read most of the information panels. A handout map for guidance around the building would be handy. We have seen better displays at smaller towns at a fraction of the cost. If all areas are not open, this should be advised to the public. We will not be back. Word of mouth spreads quickly.
Excellent. All sections are very well presented & informative. Give yourself time to do it justice. So much to see.
A must see for local Australian history of the outback
Do not miss this. Got a 2 day pass which included day show and evening dinner and show. BRILLIANT
The Hall is currently closed but we went for the short film in the cinema. Short and sweet but it was very good. Looking forward to coming back when the Hall of Fame is in full swing again.
Visiting the hall of fame was extremely interesting for all ages. First being greeted by the lovely Di at the front counter who was so bubbly & full of helpful advise started our whole experience off fabulously. We visited the centre over 2 days. Taking in part of the museums & then the outback show, which was full of interesting information. My favourite parts was the Royal Flying Doctors section & the Stockmans section. Lots of history on our outback people.
Definitely worth a visit, so give yourself plenty of time to enjoy.
Try to book on-line with bad reception, they will turn you away. Not happy. They need to be flexible.
Had a great day out, loved the place and all the history is so interesting, i really loved the stockman show,it was great and really entertaining and informative and i loved getting close to the animals at the end,i would recommend this to anyone.
Absolutely WOW... ran out of time, so I'll have to go back and finish it all off....
Great if that's your cup of tea. Well done and very informative.
Well worth visiting, need a bit of time to see it all
Friendly staff. Definitely a must when in Longreach. Great history and collection. Their new short movie is fantastic.
Very impressive Disapointed there was no visitors book to sign to state we enjoyed our visit there
Very extensive and a variaty of displays pertaining to out back life from the ealy days to more recent times.
Well worth a look if your interested in this sort of thing
Very interesting place to see, Shannon was a great guide!
So much to see anid read. The history great. Morning show informative and very interesting. Nightt show just entertainment the dinner was well presented and enjoyable.
Service at the dinner was great. Helpful regarding being gluten free
Really disappointed- lovely building though exhibits are clinical, poorly illuminated and information is difficult to see/read. It feels like a city museum rather than a country/ outback museum designed by city people. Definitely left disappointed as I had expected it to be highlight of our visit to Longreach.
Leave plenty of time for your visit. So much interesting displays to watch, listen to ans read.
Loved the Outback Heritage Show. Very entertaining, realistic, educational & professional. My granddaughter from Melbourne enjoyed the comedy & the story as told by using the animals, and then being able to touch the animals & the fleece.
Great museum with a lot of history on display. I felt the lighting could have been better. Seemed to be more of a mood lighting than a reading lighting. Well worth a visit and I would recommend it to everyone.
Saw 2 show's and had dinner there. I enjoyed it, but I can understand that it's not going to be everybody's cup of tea.
Excellent, well worth it. Take in the daytime show too, it was great.
Love it love it love it. The history the stories it's a must see
Nice place to take the family, a great atmosphere and great things, the guides treat you well.
We were able to go to both the morning and night show with a bbq meal supplied and we thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of it.The museum
and display was very interesting. Well worth seeing even if a little expensive.
The outdoor area was closed for a private event, not good when you pay the fee to see all of it.
We had a great time there one for the bucket list tick
Brilliant great place to visit you could spend all your day there
Visited the hall about 15 years ago and was so impressed and felt like one day wasn't enough time to really take it all in. Bought a couple of quality souvenirs. So was excited at the prospect of seeing it again. Unfortunately it just wasn't the same, it has changed, but not for the better. A lot of the interactive displays were not working, the quality of the souvenirs was poor and it seems to have a lot less exhibited.
Show was lots of fun. Museum was a little underwhelming for the kids. Museum was was well laid out.
Great way to learn about Australia's outback history!
Very informative, and also had the kids engaged for the most part. Friendly staff and presenters. I enjoyed the displays, and learned more about early pastoralism. I enjoyed the show (again, great for the kids to see). I did think it relatively expensive, however.
Really well set out. Great history lesson. Even found out who matilda was from "waltzing matilda." All the displays were fantastic. I only went four stars because covid19 has stopped the night time show. Its definitely for the older generation but I really enjoyed it
Very interesting and informative, but two days not enough to cover everything, ladies at front counter very friendly and helpful.
Lots of outback history and royal flying doctor service a must to see
Disappointed drove 700+kms didn't know you had to book to go in we don't plan trips were not robots
Very informative, kids loved it. The night show with dinner is a must, food was delicious and the show was very entertaining.
Good experience but could be better. Felt teens and kids may not enjoy. Definately should have a tour guide option. The projected face theatre should have been used for the bush poetry. The area used could not hear properly. The live show is a must. Excellent. So much reading info may lose young interest. The food court had a good reasonable selection.
A wonderful experience and a renewed respect for our first settlers, Aboriginals, pioneers and most of all our women.
Good insight into the harsh realities of the Australian outback
